Upon their arrival, they are dismayed to find that restoration of the once elegant Marigold Hotel has stalled. There is water…sometimes. And electricity…sometimes. OPEN CRUISERS CAFÉ, BAR & GRILL GRAND OPENING The grand opening of Cruisers Café, Bar and Grill was held on Friday, March 2, and what a night it was! Over 100 guests gathered to toast the return of great food and great service as Michael and Diana Borowicz, former owners of Mahjongg Café, launched their latest culinary endeavour, Cruisers Café, Bar and Grill. Delicacies such as duck liver and cognac pate and Peach Bellinis were served and guests were treated to goodiebags that included triple chocolate fudge brownies and Italian almond biscuits – all handmade by Diana herself. It was a night of great food and great fun and an indicator of things to come for Portside Wharf’s newest dining destination.

COCKTAILS ARE ON THE MENU AT BYBLOS Cocktails with a Lebanese twist is on the menu at Byblos, with an eclectic cocktail list designed to tantalize and tempt even the strongest of willpowers. Cucumber and mint flavours are prevalent throughout the diverse offerings, with a variety of old classics and an abundance of brand new concoctions. Classics such as Hanky Panky and Lions Tail grace the pages of the extensive menu along with a new era of specialised drinks. Names such as ‘Rockin’ Rolla Cherry Cola’ and ‘Ooops-She Daisy’ have cropped up on the menu and an array of new formed additives and flavours have made their way into the margarita glasses, sangria jugs and martini shakers. With a list of over 50 cocktails, there is certainly something to suit every taste and mood at the riverside bar and restaurant. For the boys, try The Mac Daddy, created especially for men. And for the ladies….well, you’ll just have to go back over, and over again.

The team at Moda sat down with Ashley to get the goss on her dream Easter wedding. 1) What attracted you to get married at Portside? We love the atmosphere and area. We find ourselves there quite often having dinner and drinks. It is also central for guests coming from interstate as it’s not too far from the airport and Brisbane CBD. 2) Was it important for you to get married over the Easter period? Yes, we chose to get married over the Easter period as I have always wanted an April wedding and by having the four day holiday it meant friends and family from interstate could also make a little holiday out of it! 3) Will you be bringing any hints of Easter into the wedding reception itself? Yes, as a little gift to go with the bonbonniere we are giving each of the guests a bag with little Easter eggs in them. 4) What’s your favourite Easter tradition? Getting chocolate and lots of it!
