Roald Amundsen is remembered as one of our greatest polar heroes. Together with Oscar Wisting, he was the first explorer to reach both the North Pole and the South Pole. It is 150 years this year since Amundsen was born, and we are celebrating the anniversary with the issue of two commemorative stamps. They mark the expedition to the South Pole and the expedition to the North Pole with the airship “Norge”. Magnus Rakeng designed the stamps.

NEW STAMPS

Norway Post is celebrating 375 years. In 1642, king Christian IV of Denmark and Norway ordered his Norwegian governor Hannibal Sehested to improve the roads between Copenhagen and Christiania so that a postal connection could be established between the capital cities. Norway Post was founded on 17 January 1647. Society has undergone an enormous transformation over those 375 years, as has Norway Post. Today, Norway Post is a Nordic mail and logistics group that develops and delivers complete solutions within postal services, communications and logistics. The Group has two brands on the market, Norway Post and Bring. Norway Post concentrates on the private market in Norway, while Bring targets the business market in the Nordic region and private customers outside Norway. Our vision is: We make everyday life simpler and the world smaller. Two stamps are being issued to commemorate the 375th anniversary. The motifs show Norway Post as our customers are used to seeing us: postal delivery staff wearing the red uniform and delivery staff from Bring dressed in green. Each stamp features a QR code that links to a video celebrating the anniversary. In this video we take a fond look back at our history. We hope you enjoy both the stamps and our anniversary video. Polarforskaren Roald Amundsen (1872-1928) er mest kjend for å ha leidd den første ekspedisjonen som i 1911 nådde fram til Sydpolpunktet, og for å ha vore den første som sigla heile Nordvestpassasjen. Det første frimerket i jubileumsserien viser Roald Amundsen, eit kartutsnitt av Antarktis med ruta inn til sydpolpunktet og Amundsen i isaudet. På det andre frimerket ser vi Amundsen og luftskipet Norge, som han flaug over Nordpolen med. I bakgrunnen kartutstnitt over Nordpolen og delar av den nordlege halvkula.
