The motifs cover everything from pets to royalty and Norway to Antarctica, and February marks the debut of a QR code on a Norwegian stamp. Norway stamp number 2,000 will be issued in January, and will be properly celebrated with its own minisheet at Nordia 2019 in Sarpsborg in August.

André Bjerke was one of Norway’s most prominent post-war authors. He was both a writer and a poet, he translated literature from the world into Norwegian, and several of his books were adapted into movies. Hans Børli is often referred to as the poet of the forest. He is one of our most popular poets, and his works feature a closeness with nature. Enzo Finger has designed the two stamps.

The theme for this year’s Christmas stamps is Christmas preparations. Many families decorate for Christmas together, blending old traditions with new. Gina Rose designed the Christmas stamps. The 2019 stamp year begins with Oslo taking over as European Green Capital on 4 January. We do not issue many stamps in this country, but in February, after 164 years, we will have reached stamp number 2,000. The entire stamp program is presented on page 2. Before we head into next year, though, we will first celebrate Christmas. I hope that you will write many Christmas cards and remember to send all your Christmas post on time. Hans Børli blir gjerne omtalt som «skogens dikter», men i diktene sine var han også opptatt av politikk og eksistensielle temaer som angst, tro og død. I sine første diktsamlinger holdt han seg innen en tradisjonalistisk retning, med vers og rim. Etter hvert beveget han seg i en mer modernistisk retning med frie dikt. André Bjerke var en ruvende skikkelse innen norsk litteratur, kultur og debatt gjennom flere tiår. Han var både lyriker, gjendikter, polemiker, vitenskapsteoretiker, humorist, barnebokforfatter, riksmålsforkjemper, spøkelsesjeger og kriminalforfatter.
Få forfattere har preget sin samtid som André Bjerke og Hans Børli. I år ville de begge fylt 100 år.

The cards are cancelled with a special exhibition stamp and are franked with a personal stamp. The motif on the stamp features the hashtags that bring together the exhibition cities, Norway Post and the stamps.
