Jordan Hart Pop/ Rock jordanhartsound.com
Renowned for their breathtaking live shows, it is clear that few bands have the creative range and work ethic of Moulettes. With a brave approach to production and arrangement, Moulettes look for peculiar ways of blending acoustic and electric instruments. They weave several genres with Cello, Violins, Guitars, Drums, Bassoon, Double bass, brass and synths into an incomparable pop/ rock/folk Universe. The band contains a mix of self-taught and classically trained multi-instrumentalists and singers, who will often play more than one instrument per song and even at the same time. All members have shared the stage and studio with well-known artists, including Mick Jagger, Nick Cave, Seasick Steve, Bonobo, Gentle Giant, Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Bellowhead, The Levellers and many more.
Jordan Hart is a young, multiinstrumentalist, singer-songwriter who is known for his strong falsetto and his approachable personality. He is a seasoned performer at the age of 22, having honed his craft while doing live shows across Canada, playing an average of 300 days / year, over the last three years. In January 2016 Hart was signed by Watchdog Management (Hedley, Matthew Koma) in Vancouver and has, most recently, been in studio with Juno Award-winning, multiPlatinum-selling producer Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen, Hedley & many others) continuing work on his 5 song EP entitled Break Away. The tracks on Break Away blend acoustic soul with pop and illustrate how Jordan’s smooth voice and incredible vocal range meld effortlessly with his mastery of the piano & guitar along with his powerful lyrics.

august 3 Justine Vandergrift Singer/Songwriter justinevandergrift.com
Justine Vandergrift is an emerging artist with that most precious and rare gift - an original voice. It’s hard to capture such things in words but hearing is believing. – Stephen Fearing Justine Vandergrift’s clear, rich voice and finelytuned song-craft bespeak an affinity with the likes of Patty Griffin, Bonnie Raitt, and Sarah Harmer, but her own brand of country soul has deeper roots than that, ones that dig into the hymns and folk songs of her central Alberta youth. Her three studio releases reveal a rare and irresistible knack for melody, and her new album Sailor (November 2015) represents a deepening of that artistry. Justine is like the old hymns she grew up with – even if you can’t quite put your finger on what makes them genuine and authentic, they are undeniably so.

Theatre at Festival Place is a large part of our community life. Over 10,000 people attend the Christmas musical and the Family Day children’s productions. There are hundreds of individuals that participate as actors, dancers, carpenters, lighting and stage crew and the many many other activities involved in bringing a show to our audience. Like sport, theatre teaches invaluable life enhancing skills like teamwork, responsibility, collaboration and leadership. Participants develop enhanced physical and intellectual capacities as well as life-long learning skills like analysis, problem solving, reasoning, abstract thinking, conceptualization and creative thinking, all of the skills so necessary to success in school and the workplace. The Rotary of Sherwood Park has a history of commitment to international and community philanthropic projects. THE ROTARY COMMUNITY THEATRE EDUCATION PROJECT Rotary recognizes the opportunities community theatre offers individuals for personal growth and development. Accordingly, Rotary is undertaking a project with Festival Place to support the offering of courses and training opportunities. This is a capacity building project, one in which the participating individuals will develop skills and be able to be better contributors to their community. Programmes will be offered year round commencing late this summer in areas like acting, script interpretation, dance, lighting design, sound, makeup and the many other skills involved in a theatrical production. Festival Place thanks Rotary of Sherwood Park for their commitment to our community and to community theatre. Look forward to further information in our local newspaper in August.
