FUN & GAMES FOR LESS!
FEED YOURSELF, YOU’VE GOT TO EAT! Everybody has their favourite takeaway. Even in a new city you’ll find yours quickly enough. But men (and women) cannot live on kebabs and burgers alone. We always have a great range of top brand kitchen cupboard fillers and food essentials to ensure you never go hungry. Who knows? You might even try cooking something. Here are a few tips to get you started...
GENIUS TOMATO SAUCE (enough for 4) This is one of the only things you’ll need to learn how to cook as a student. Once we’ve shown you how to make it we’ll give you a list of 5 other things you can make with it, that’s why it’s genius. You’ll need to go to the greengrocers or the market for a couple of ingredients, but you can get everything else from Poundland. MARKET: Garlic. Celery. Onion. POUNDLAND: Tinned Tomatoes 400g. Salt. Pepper.
Olive or Vegetable Oil.
TO MAKE THE SAUCE: Finely chop one onion, one clove of
garlic, and one celery stick. Gently fry them in a small amount of oil for a few minutes or until softened but not brown. Add the tomatoes and season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper. Simmer this for about 15 minutes. Simmer for another minute and it’s done. If you’re not using it straight away, let it cool and store in the fridge. Now the fun begins. We stock all the ingredients to make these meals & snacks except fresh veg and a few extras like some herbs – back to the market for these. Cooking for yourself is fun and you’ll save a fortune on takeaways.
NOTCHOS. Like natchos but different. Empty a pack or two of tortilla chips or bacon bites or chip sticks or a few of each onto an ovenproof tray. Pour some of your genius tomato sauce over them. Grate on some cheddar cheese. Pop them under a hot grill for a few minutes until the cheese is bubbly and brown.

Drain a can of kidney beans, add these, along with some chopped up mushrooms. Cook in the oven for 15 minutes. Serve it with some rice or chunks of bread. Woofilicious!
