INTERVIEW WITH
FRANCES DUPREE
Who is Frances Dupree? It's interesting that you ask me that question because for many years I did not know who Frances was. I knew the titles that Frances held such as a child of God, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, student, and employee. The fact that I did not know who Frances was really bothered me so after my divorce I had to take the time and learn who Frances was all over again. What I learned is that I have a heart of God, I love helping others. My favorite color is red because I am a hopeless romantic. I am very indecisive at times and it drives my husband and close friends crazy. When I am hurt, angry, or sad I close myself off to everyone. I'm a simple person that loves simple things like going to the movies with my husband or supporting my children at their games and award ceremonies at school. I have a goal of becoming a criminal defense attorney because I want to speak and fight for those that can't do it for themselves. I am trying to build an empire and to own property and land so I can leave a legacy for my children. These are all the things that I learned about myself.
What inspired you to become a motivational speaker and author? While I was in bible college working on my BA in ministry I kept saying that I was going to write a book called Marrying Outside of God's Will. To be honest if was nothing but God that I had the idea because I can't think of any other reason I would want to write the book in the beginning. When I first sat and started writing the book my divorce was fresh the ink didn't even dry all the way, and I was so bitter so of course I made my ex sound like a monster. But after some time of healing, experiencing life, spending time with God, and experiencing pure genuine love again I started to write again. Except this time I was able to write from a place of love because I was being loved the right way. One night my sisters were on the prayer line and my sister I was in the car with I asked her for the number to get on the line. The prophet on the line told me that I needed to stop starting and writing my book, that I needed to finish writing it because souls were depending on it. Now mind you only my two sisters knew that I actually had started writing the book so I knew that the prophet wasn't lying. So from that night on I started writing and I was determined to finish because I felt like God had given me a specific assignment and I needed to complete it. Now in regards to the motivational speaker part I have a mentor/coach by the name of Alicia George and during one of our sessions she said I need you to get your business cards made and they need to say author and motivational speaker. When she said that something stirred up in my spirit, that with all of the journeys that I have experienced in life and all of the blessings that God has given me my testimony is a motivator. As a mompreneur, how do you balance your personal and professional life? I have a great support system, my husband, my mother-n-law, my son's God mom/sister, my sister they all help me. I have eight sons and one daughter to be exact and sometimes it is very overwhelming. I'm in the process of finishing my BA in criminal justice, I am putting the finishing touches on my book and it's in the publishing process, I am pre-selling books, a wife, mother, and now home school teacher it is a lot. However, I pray and command my day, I make sure that all of my children get the individual attention that they need, I always make sure that my husband and I have our one-on-one time. At night is when I usually do homework. I market and manage my book from my phone. What 2 tips would you share with ladies who may be experiencing uncertainty and challenges in this season? My first tip is find a place all to yourself scream, cry, and pray give it all to God, my second tip once you give it to him do not take it away and start moving in faith as if everything that is troubling you is already done. This is way easier said then done because I still struggle with it but I am getting better at it day by day. What is next for you in 2020 and how can readers connect with you online? Marrying Outside of God's Will is going to be fully published the beginning of April. I am planing a book release and signing which all details and updates on the event can be located on my website at gods-will-ministries.com. I can be located on Facebook as Frances Dupree, on Instagram mrs_ninethehardway, and of course my website gods-will-ministries.com

Introduce yourself and brand: My name is Alice Ilonga, I'm a Congolese(DRC)-Canadian woman who grew up in Belgium, Germany and moved to Canada where I learned English and started my two businesses. Through those brands, I sell lingerie, swimsuits and makeup. What makes your brand unique? What makes my brands unique are that they focus on authenticity and inclusiveness. What 2 pieces of Entrepreneur advice would you share with readers? 1) Start today because making excuses won't help you start a business and it sure as hell won't help you create the lifestyle you want for yourself. 2) Launch before you feel ready because if you wait until your product or service feels perfect, someone else will already be doing a better job of helping your customers solve their problems. What is next for you in 2020? For 2020 I'm planning to launch a wedding lingerie collection and newmom collection with my Ilonga Alice brand. For my cosmetic brand, I will be introducing a perfume in collaboration with my two beautiful sisters. How can readers connect with you online and support your business? Readers can connect with me on Instagram: @ilongaalicebrand @ilongaalicecosmetic. My personal Instagram is @alice.ilonga and you can subscribe to my Youtube channel: Ilonga Alice!
Jody Prendergast Please share a bit about your entrepreneurial journey: My entrepreneurial journey has been one of great success. I am the current leader of my own home healthcare agency where we provide services to seniors and the disabled. When I started White Rose, it was very challenging because in Healthcare, individuals would prefer a professional with 30 years experience versus someone who is just starting. Knowing this, I decided to hire the staff with the experience and market their years of experiences. This method gained the respect we needed to sustain. What inspired you to launch the “Essence of a Boss” event series? I was inspired to launch Essence of a Boss from the need to have successful Black women who looked just like me. Women who are Entrepreneurs and Executives who said: I can, I will, watch me! The idea started with just a birthday brunch one Saturday and is now a 3 day conference. I wanted to give back to my community and create a space for women to excel in all aspects of their lives, especially business. What 2 tips would you share with readers as it relates to thriving as an Entrepreneur? My Main two tips are as follows: Lead with your heart, it may get you in trouble at times but love always wins. You cannot control the cards you are dealt but you can manage how you play the hand. How can readers connect with you online? Understanding and mastering these components will provide readers with effective knowledge of self and can serve as an excellent template to reach sustainable success in all areas of life. Share 2 pieces of business advice for emerging entrepreneurs: “If you fail to plan, then plan to fail.” We all know this to be somewhat true, but an entrepreneur needs to learn to expand this to include the importance of being fluid. If you fail to adjust your plan, then plan to adjust your expectations. Entrepreneurs like all others are subject to bounded rationality. The idea that decisions are limited by the information available, cognitive limitations of the problem solver and the time available to make the decision. Within entrepreneurship, the learning curve is steep and the terrain dynamic and given that the entrepreneur is likely a novice and the set of skills necessary to succeed within this arena unrefined, the rate that new information needs to be interpreted and integrated is quite high. Mastering this skill is key to sustainable success. Do the work upfront! Define balance. Define success. Create an exit strategy. Make sure that all the terms in your plan can be defined and measured so that progress can be tracked and controlled. Many people possess the ambition and fewer the vision, however the truly successful have identified their goal, can track the progress to said goal and have instituted accountability measures that help guide their progress to their goal. INTERVIEW WITH
ROSLYN ELLERBEE
Please introduce yourself and brand to readers: Hello, I am Roslyn Ellerbee, the founder of Dream Team Digital Marketing and Express Errands & Courier. Entrepreneurship has always been a passion of mine since I was a young girl. When I'm not helping my clientsto create profitable digital solutions that elevate their brand and drive growth, I'm actively working in my other company establishing new partnerships that help small businesses become nationwide enterprises through same-day logistics deliveries. Share 2 pieces of advice to new entrepreneurs: My advice for rising entrepreneurs is when you have a product, service, or idea that you know is needed, you know you have a winner, and you know it can change the world, give it your all and go all in. All or nothing! Invest in your business. Investing in your business in the early stages will save you a lot of headaches, and you will see the rewards much quicker. Second, be prepared for change. Change is the seed of growth! Who has inspired you the most on your journey and why?
Finding inspiration was not hard for me, and is not hard for me. I was the youngest of my mother's six children, the babygirl. Growing up, it was just my mother and I. Growing up, my mom talked to me, she prayed for me, and she prayed with me. But most importantly, she spoke blessings over my life everyday. She would tell me how proud she was of me, how much she loved me, how pretty I was, and she encouraged me to want more out of life and to never accept failure as an option. I now realize I needed all of that encouragement, all of the positivity growing up because it developed me into the strong woman I am today. As far as who's inspired me along my entrepreneur journey, I can honestly say that there have been many. But my mother truly inspired me to want the best for myself, to want the best for my future, and she was the perfect example for me to model "legacy building."
What is next for you in 2020? Growth & Innovation for both of my companies. Currently, Dream Team Digital Marketing has 2 locations, one in Jacksonville, NC, and our corporate office is located in Atlanta, GA. We plan on opening our 3rd location in Austin, TX, by the 2nd quarter of 2020. INTERVIEW WITH
MELISSA D. WHITE
What inspired you to become a Glam CEO? As a generational entrepreneur, I intentionally chose the corporate path before building my business. Growing up I had a first-hand look at entrepreneurship through my mother who had several businesses from the time I was eight years old. I have had a master class of life lessons, and I understood that being a CEO is not for the faint at heart. I didn’t want a business just because. It had to be meaningful work that was my passion. Through several ventures I learned that it takes more than passion. Being a CEO of your own business or the executor or anyone’s business requires capital, focus and a plan. It was not until I found my purpose in training, coaching and teaching and identified a clear cap in the market that I staked my claim as a CEO in my own right. Tell us about your mission: My mission is purpose activation and income maximization, and this is my primary aim for all that I serve, especially women. In an age where we are still fighting pay gaps, battling imposter syndrome and still finding our unique voice, it is more important than ever that we help women to become their best selves in every endeavor. Coaching is my superpower, to help women see themselves the way God sees them in their purpose. If we are not well mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially, then we are not truly free to operate in our gifts at the optimal level to impact others. I am committed to seeing sisters have healthy thriving businesses and a clear vision on their journey. If you could share business advice with yourself 10 years ago, what would that be? Pride comes before the fall. You can avoid a lot of head and heart ache if you just ask for help when you need it and use your network. That’s what they are there for; reciprocity. I have been fortunate to gain a very supportive network throughout my career that followed me into entrepreneurship. What is next for you in 2020? 2020 is the year of “ships”: partnerships, relationships, and mentorship. I am focusing on deeper and intentional relationships. The last 2 years, I built my business as more of a solopreneur, and I did a lot of the operational foundations solo. I am now at a place where I embrace and need the connection of a team to scale and grow as well as solid mentors to coach me to the next level of business. Yes, even coaches need a coach! This year also brings more curated content and master classes to pour into quality coaching training and certifications. My goal is to produce quality over quantity; to put out work I am proud of and produce the best coaches and leaders I can from my business. How can readers connect and support your efforts? ELECTRA DAVIS INTERVIEW WITH
My name is Electra Davis. I am the CEO of Mysteek Naturals. I was inspired to to create my temporary chemical-free hair coloring due to the fact that I had spent time dying my hair in the past, only to have to cut it out later. In other instances it fell out over time. But like so many other women I like to express myself, so I came up with a perfect formula to get the color that I wanted, without the damage. This allows me to switch up as much as I would like, and I can continue expressing myself outwardly as I feel inwardly. Also, this is not my first business, it's my second. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit and finally, I came across something that could get me into my dream career. In 2020, I plan on scaling my business to try to become a multimillion-dollar entity. It is also one of my dreams to create jobs for others. I would love to be able to get to a place in which I teach other people on a regular basis, who are wanting to leave their nine-tofive, how to transition and how to start their own small business in the beauty industry. Connect with Electra on social media! Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube: Mysteek Naturals.
INTERVIEW WITH
TANISHA MACKIN
What inspired you to become a CEO? I always had a passion to be my own boss, make my own business decisions and follow my own rules. I've always been like that. What business advice would you now give yourself 10 years ago? I would tell myself that success doesn't happen overnight and it takes hard work to get where you want to be. Stop looking at what others have and what they are doing, focus on you and your business. How do you feel self-love affects the entrepreneur journey? To be an entrepreneur you have to have tough skin. You have to mind the business that pays you and not worry about what others are doing. Self love plays a major part in that because you have to be confident in yourself and your business. You have to know when the business is wearing you down and when to take a day to refocus, refresh, recharge and release. What is next for you in 2020? In April 2020, I will have my Pain Into Profit Writing Workshop in Atlanta, My 2nd Annual Rebuilding After Bullsh*t Brunch held in Buffalo, NY July 18th and my second Pain Into Profit writing workshop September 20th in Buffalo, NY.
