Henri Matisse
One of the artist’s greatest works was the design and creation of the Chapel of Saint Paul at Venice. Matisse spent a considerable amount of time on this important project and personally designed every aspect of the building including the altar, the candlesticks, the priest’s robes and the chalices. He created a number of original lithographs which were sold to raise funds for the project and this is part of that series.
