John Farrington It is nearly twenty years since Rigby Graham introduced me to the paintings of John Farrington. Graham and I travelled to Bridgnorth in Shropshire to find him. Over the years most of the subterranean rooms in which Farrington worked had turned into corridors as one finished oil painting after another was consigned to the ever growing stack. by the arrival of a van laden with new paintings. This catalogue shows many of the latest batch. At nearly 80, Farrington has lost none of his power. He invites us to meet the strange characters and animals who inhabit his paintings and to explore the world that they inhabit. Ancient myths are reworked often sitting side by side with obscure tales of the present. Farrington offers no judgement. He neither condemns nor condones, choosing only to share with us what he has seen.
