Love is the casualty of the cold world of modern art, a brash world of strident gestures. In the middle of it work created by the quiet unassuming man from Nottingham will be seen increasingly as pictures of genuine merit bringing warmth and satisfaction to all who own them. ROBERT DAWSON THE LINOCUT PORTFOLIO
When Robert Dawson died in 1997 he left a house full of paintings, the vast majority of which we have now found homes for. The recognition that Dawson had never courted during his lifetime continues to grow, with many of his paintings now finding their way into important private collections. Dawson also left a manuscript and illustrations for the book, Painters and their Houses, which Goldmark published in 2007 and has now almost sold out. In Dawson’s studio we also discovered 5 linoblocks which he had cut but not editioned. With the kind permission from his widow, Peggy, we now offer a portfolio containing the 5 linocuts, immaculately printed on BFK Rives 280gsm paper by Ian and Jan Wilkinson at the Goldmark Atelier.
The prints carry the Dawson Estate Stamp signature and have been produced in an edition of 100 sets only. There will be no further editions. The portfolio, containing the 5 prints, is being offered to our customers at £500 until 1st December, at which time any remaining sets will go on general sale at £750. The special price includes vat and uk p&p. Prints are not individually available. Documentary dvd Just Being an Artist £15 + p&p. Book £20 + p&p.
