Miró Sculpteur A set of seven original 1974 lithographs offered at an amazingly low price Joan Miró was one of the greatest Surrealist artists of the 20th century. He drew heavily upon his own highly individual, fantastic universe of signs and symbols through which he was able to create a magical world populated by strange configurations in vibrant, vivid colours. Miró was a colourful and charismatic character who loved to associate with poets, writers and intellectuals. Two such were the art historian J. Johnson Sweeney and the poet Jacques Dupin,

both of whom produced books to accompany exhibitions of Miró’s work. The books were printed in several languages and Miró created an original lithograph for each one. The seven lithographs offered here are from the unsigned editions of 1500 copies printed in 1974 by the prominent master printer La Polígrafa in Barcelona on heavy cream wove Guarro paper. Each is signed in the stone. We have just found a small cache of these which have lain dormant for 35 years.
