Andy Warhol
Inspired by the work of Andy Warhol, The Souper Dress was created in the 1960s by Campbell’s Soup for an advertising campaign. Paper dresses were fashionable at the time and this is a classic example of fashion, art and the industry intersecting in one image. We know of one example making an outrageous £24,000 at auction and last year a number sold at between £10,000 and £15,000. Most that have sold for less money have been in very bad condition. Ours is near mint and we are pleased to offer it at £4750. The label reads: No Cleaning - No Washing - It's Carefree Fire Resistant Unless Washed or Cleaned To Refreshen, Press Lightly with Warm Iron. 80% Cellulose, 20% Cotton The dress is in The Metropolitan Museum of Art collection, the Andy Warhol Museum, FIT, as well as other museums and collections around the world.

Since his death in 1998, the popularity of Pasmore's prints has grown immensely, with the earlier work becoming very scarce. His international reputation grew from the 1960s, including a retrospective exhibition at the Tate Gallery in 1965, a one-man British Council touring show and a special display at the Tate, both in 1980. His work is held in most leading U.K. collections. Pasmore was made a Companion of Honour in 1981 and elected R.A. in 1984.

Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso was born in Spain in 1881 and was to become the most famous, versatile, prolific and influential artist of the 20th century. It is our good fortune that Picasso had such a great love of printmaking. By the time he died in 1973 he had produced a substantial body of original etchings, lithographs and linocuts, which rank alongside the greatest prints of the century. While the ownership of an original painting is, for the majority of us, out of the question, Picasso’s prints are still relatively accessible.
31. Picador, Woman and Horse linocut, 1962, 27 x 22 cm
£375 Original linocut after Picasso
Between 1958 and 1961 Picasso made many linocuts, a process that he found hugely stimulating. These linocuts were first issued in signed editions of 50 by Galerie Louise Leiris, many of which now sell at between £8,000 and £80,000 each. Picasso invented the ‘reduction’ method, progressively cutting the same linoblock for each new colour, making it impossible to take any further prints from the original plates. In 1962, in collaboration with Picasso and Galerie Louise Leiris, new linoleum plates were made at 42% of the original size, and it was from these that the prints on offer here were made.

Brendan Neiland
Professor Brendan Neiland, born 1941, is best known for his paintings of reflections in modern city buildings. In 1992 he was elected into the Royal Academy. Neiland's interpretations of city life have gained him a reputation as one of Britain's foremost painters and printmakers. His control of light and pictorial structure is achieved by the use of a spray-gun technique developed at the Royal College of Art. His work is widely exhibited and is featured in the collections of the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
