goldmark part 1 december 2009
something for each of you
Welcome to our December online catalogue It’s a bumper edition so we’ve divided it into 3 parts To make a purchase or to check availability please call us on 01572 821 424 or email info@goldmarkart.com You can double click on any of the web links in these catalogues to visit the relevant sites Enjoy.
It's been a good year for the gallery and we thank you for both your encouragement and custom. Our websites continue to grow both in number and size and our new School Prints site (www.schoolprints.co.uk), complete with mini films and online buying facility has been a great success. There will be lots more of this on our other sites during the next 12 months. Three doors down the street from the gallery our framing workshop goes from strength to strength. This year you have kept us very busy, particularly with our top of the range hand-gilding. We continue to make films, two major ones this year, John Piper and the Japanese potter Ken Matsuzaki, and we have half a dozen new books ready to publish in the next few months. More details to follow. We hope you enjoy the range of art in your bumper Christmas catalogue and we are happy to remind you that all these items come with free uk delivery, but please order early. Best wishes, Mike and all at Goldmark

Goldmark Framing
We have been making picture frames for over 20 years, both for our gallery and for the general public. The business has grown so much that we have recently moved to new premises in Orange Street, Uppingham, just three doors down from the Goldmark Gallery. We make modern, contemporary and traditional frames for individuals, artists, galleries, architects, interior designers, collectors and photographers. In fact, anyone looking for quality picture frames. All of our work is carried out to conservation standards, using high quality materials, to ensure that our frames offer the best environment for the protection of your work. For your very special pictures why not discuss a gesso or gold-leaf, hand-crafted frame with state of the art glazing.
Contact Rupert on 01572 823406
Goldmark framing offers a high quality, personal service and our friendly staff are happy to discuss your requirements and to offer advice. We can frame art on paper or canvas and we‘ll be pleased to undertake challenging and unusual commissions. We’ve not yet framed an elephant but we’d give it a go. We can advise on the conservation and preservation of works of art, and we work with conservators and specialists who can clean or repair most pictures. Our experience in handling things of value, both financial and sentimental, means that we will take good care of your work, and our background in art and attention to detail will ensure your work is framed sympathetically. As well as framing we can deliver and even hang your pictures for you.

oil on board, c1958, 37 x 80.5 cm,
This painting is part of Chapman’s peripheral vision series where figures in the foreground are painted as if they were being glimpsed in one’s peripheral vision.
George Chapman, 1908-1993, born in London, studied at Royal College of Art and Slade School of Art. After this he moved to Great Bardfield in Essex but found little to inspire him until his first visit to Wales in the 1950s. His love affair with the soulful landscape and communities of the Welsh valleys saw him eventually move across the border in 1960 (shortly after winning the Gold Medal for Fine Art at the National Eisteddfod in 1957). Influenced by Sickert and the Euston Road School of painters, he was the subject of a BBC Monitor programme in 1961. His work is held in many public collections including the V&A Museum.
