How did you get started in your field/industry?

I got started in my field by destiny. I did not have a plan after high school. I was a teenage mother, and my main concern was maintaining a job to take care of my son. After applying with a temp agency, I was sent to CitiMortgage as a processor. I enjoyed learning about refinancing and wanted to learn more. My manager felt I was containing matcha tea, consulting, and digital marketing. She belongs to Shepherd’s Table, Eliances (Where Entrepreneurs Align), M3Linked, and UNICEF UNITE. Gloria donates a portion of her profits to charity annually. She enjoys swimming, cryotherapy, museums, reading, meditation, hiking, travel, philanthropy, and volunteering.

How did you get started in your field/ industry?

After encountering physical/health issues, my mental health was affected. My mom (who was a Buddhist) introduced me to matcha and I saw a significant improvement with my health/wellness. My grandmother, Francoise Foning, was a businesswoman and my mentor.

What are some of the biggest challenges/obstacles you faced in your career?

Using QuickBooks, keeping track of travel, and spending time with her family.

How did you get started in your field/ industry?

I have wanted to be in banking since I was about 16. There was an opening at the bank next door to my office and I had asked the ladies there to let me know if they were hiring, even for part-time. I went in to deposit my paycheck and was told that they were indeed hiring, so I went for it. That was four years ago. ready to do more and I applied for a job at Bank of America. I got the job and never left. I enjoy the world of financial services.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

Empowerment means to push forward and let no one tell you that you cannot do something. It means to do things on your own and never wait on someone to make it happen for you. We are all powerful and we have the energy to make whatever we want to happen. I have the drive, determination, and the strong will to never give up. I am empowered to be all I can be by any means necessary.

What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges that women face today?

I believe economic inequality and the lack of women in positions of power are some of the biggest challenges that women face today. It begins with education. It is important to create equal opportunities for children, especially for young girls.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

It means supporting one another towards individual prosperity. Throughout my journey, I have been empowered by friends and family, and tried my best to empower others as well through volunteering, including helping those in need with the Shepherds Table organization.

What are some of the biggest challenges/obstacles you faced in your career?

One of the biggest challenges has been working in a male dominated field and feeling like I have had to prove myself twice over for the same amount of respect that is afforded to our male counterparts.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

For me, empowerment is a feeling more than a word. It feels a lot like confidence and luck all rolled into one. To be empowered is to know your worth and go after what you really want, even if you’re scared of the outcome.

I started as a HR administrator and worked my way up to a HR manager. After over 20 years in the industry, I left due to illness and started my own business that capitalized on my skills and abilities.

What are some of the biggest challenges/obstacles you faced in your career?

Women in business are simply not treated the same as men. We still have to prove our value before we are trusted with important responsibilities. I have negotiated labor contracts with large labor organizations and still have to prove my worth.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

It means the freedom to be who I am

every client leaves the salon looking and feeling their best. She enjoys being with her family, dining out, and retail therapy.

How did you get started in your field/ industry?

I started back in 2002. I was fresh out of high school and was asked by my parents to go into nails or hairdressing. I immediately said “No” to both thinking I would be terrible at it. Now almost 20 years later I own two salons and am supporting my family doing what I love most.

What are some of the biggest challenges/obstacles you faced in your career?

My biggest challenge was working with family. Unfortunately, I’ve learned the hard way to never work with friends or family. Keep them separate.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

Empowerment means being strong, confident, and having success. When I say success, it does not mean financially. Success means that someone can take care of themself, do anything they’ve wanted to do in life, and be ready for the next challenge ahead of them. Nothing will stand in my way as long as I have the support system I have to make me the person I am today.

How did you get started in your field/industry?

It had to be fate and destiny because I really didn’t plan for this. However, I am very passionate about financial literacy.

What are some of the biggest challenges/obstacles you faced in your career?

The biggest challenge I faced was myself. Most times we talk our own selves out of success. It is fear of the unknown.

What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges that women face today?

Some challenges are the fear that they may not succeed and reach the pinnacle they have in their minds. It is the fear of failing. Once you fail, you understand what needs to be done to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

It means courage, freedom, wisdom, and determination. It is taking real world-class steps towards your goals until they are accomplished.

looked to God, tirelessly relying on her faith to get her to the life she has now, which is one filled with understanding and love. She also co-authored, “Dare to Be Authentic.” In her spare time, Angela enjoys watching anime and travel.

How did you get started in your field/ industry?

I found that there were a lot of mothers and daughters who wanted to have a real relationship, but no one was willing to forgive and let go of the past or make the first move to healing their relationships.

What are some of the biggest challenges/obstacles you faced in your career?

People will tell you that they will support you and then not show up or even bother to call.

What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges that women face today?

They don’t know who they are, and they have a hard time trusting others due to their past experiences.

What does the word empowerment mean to you?

Push forward no matter what gets in your way. Be confident, strong, motivate and inspire others to go after their dreams and goals. Stop letting others (including themselves) talk them out of it.
