IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER OCTOBER 2: Operation Christmas Child Kickoff Celebration (Goal Reveal) during worship services. Don’t miss this time to celebrate the power of a simple gift.
OCTOBER 2-16: Bring in any extra items (school supplies, hygiene items, etc) and/or pick up your boxes from the display table in the Welcome Center.
OCTOBER 22: Got some extra items or just want to have some fun packing a few boxes together? Join us in the Fellowship Hall at 4:00PM for a great time of fellowship and packing boxes.
NOVEMBER 6: Last day to drop off packed boxes. Please bring to the Welcome Center to the designated Drop-Off Point.
NOVEMBER 20: Join us for our time of prayer for the boxes, the children who will receive them, and for the Gospel to transform lives. See Rebecca Fox or Emily Sparks for more info.
Find a Shoebox Start with an averagesize cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately.
Pray Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.
Girl or Boy? Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
Fill with Gifts (NO CANDY OR TOOTHPASTE PLEASE) Select a quality “wow” toy such as a doll, soccer ball with pump, or stuffed animal. Then add other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. Check the pamphlet for more ideas.
$7 Tracking Labels: Donate $7 online and receive a tracking label to Follow Your Box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift. Attach the tracking label to your box. OR… tape an envelope to the top of your box with $7 for shipping. Please make checks to OPBC.

ONE NIGHT A YEAR… our neighbors who need JESUS knock on OUR DOORS! How can we be the LIGHT if we turn off our lights? Let’s LIGHT UP HALLOWEEN WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST FOR POWHATAN 1. Bring some GREAT CANDY for us to share with our neighbors (miniature and full sized candy bars and non-chocolate candies as well) 2. Join us at 3936 Old Buckingham Road from 4:30-8:30 on October 31 to meet our neighbors and hand out candies and share the love of Christ 3. If you can’t make it, make plans to hand out GREAT CANDY at your house. Pick up your HALLOWEEN NEIGHBORHOOD OUTREACH KIT in the Welcome Center on October 23 or 30. Wholly funded by The Gideons International, The Life Book is an innovative and simple strategy for students to reach students with the gift of the Gospel. The Life Book's unique design engages students with the truth of God's Word as they are introduced to Jesus Christ. In 110 pages, students encounter a short recap of the Old Testament, the entire Gospel of John (ESV), interactive student comments and questions in the margins, and scriptural answers to issues teens face – all leading to a call to repent and trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Because students have the right to distribute religious literature in public schools, The Life Book presents a unique opportunity for OPBC to mobilize our teenagers to reach their classmates and peers with the gift of the Gospel.
