Jurassic Journeys May 27 - September 10, 2017 Stand beneath a ferocious Tyrannosaurus rex as it lowers its head to attack. Witness a pack of Deinonychus feasting on a Tenontosaurus carcass. Catch a glimpse of the longnecked Elasmosaurus swimming in the open ocean. Watch a Pteranodon soaring over the coast, while a Mosasaurus lurks in the shadows of the sea. Then enter the land of herbivores. Search for plants to eat with the low-browsing Stegosaurus. Walk with a Triceratops and its young as they graze on North American vegetation. Hear a Maiasaura roar in joy watching its eggs hatch, then listen to the deep, raspy vocal calls of a Pachycephalosaurus preparing for battle. Operate an animatronic Hadrosaur using a remote control. Discover fossils while digging through the sand, and uncover other fossils by rubbing crayons on paper-covered templates. Take a photograph riding a Triceratops or inside the deadly jaws of a T. rex. This journey transcends all boundaries – land, sea, and air!

Solar Eclipse Glasses coming this summer! A rare, total eclipse of the sun is taking place August 21, 2017. In the MidSouth, we will see 94% of that eclipse, but not with our bare eyes. Special glasses must be worn and a hometown company has that handled. American Paper Optics in Bartlett, TN, is the world's largest manufacturer of safe solar eclipse glasses. To celebrate, they recently created the world's largest pair of fully functioning solar eclipse glasses. This summer, these glasses will be on display at the Pink Palace Museum. See them up close, see through them up close, and even take a picture to see yourself up close next to these glasses. Just do not wear them—they are too big! And lots of fun.

Over the years the college has educated generations of teachers, professionals and public servants. This exhibit explores LeMoyne-Owen’s unique past as a Historically Black College (HBC), as well as a vital part of the Memphis community, by considering the institution’s academics and athletics, students’ participation in the city’s civil rights movement, and the impact of notable alumni. It also includes a rare painting by Vertis Hayes, who supervised a Federal Arts Center at LeMoyne-Owen in the late 1930s. The painting, pictured below, was professionally conserved for this exhibit with funds provided by an ArtsFirst grant through ArtsMemphis.
