hilip Grabow has been a Subaru WRX STi loyalist since he was on the waitlist to get one back in 2001. Having already developed an addiction to boost with previous FWD platforms, the massive improvements in traction from the Subaru AWD system was immediately appreciated. After building, racing, and retiring a 2002 Subaru WRX racecar, Grabow and his team moved on to greener pastures in the form of the updated 2006 WRX STi you see here. Eventually, Grabow went on to start Element Tuning, his own tuning company where he has continued to develop, prototype, and fabricate components for his racing campaign. When you’re fighting for the front spot in the Unlimited Class in Global Time Attack, there isn’t much you can get off-the-shelf that will push your build further than it is already. WD cars with as many accolades and track records as Will Au-Yeung’s 2012 Honda Civic Si are hard to come by - a true testament to the workmanship and driver ability found within. For the hardcore Time Attack fans worldwide, Au-Yeung needs no introduction, but if you’re new here, let us fill you in. Between PZ Tuning’s unreal engineering, and AuYeung’s driving, the team has managed numerous highly coveted world records, including the ButtonWillow CW13 overall time attack record, Road Atlanta overall time attack record, NJMP overall time attack record, Ginerman Raceway overall time attack record, and the world’s fastest FF lap on Japan’s Tsukuba Circuit. Of course, these records are just a part of the team’s legacy in Global Time Attack, in which Au-Yeung holds the 2017/2018 Unlimited Pro Class Champion title. The build was loosely inspired by Honda’s own racecar in the Continental Tires Challenge, using the same chassis. Seeing the potential in the platform, as well as the fact there had been some racing development for the chassis already, Au-Yeung and his team set out to build a monster. With nearly 900 whp, a monster is exactly what they’ve created, now boasted as one of the fastest Honda Civics in the entire world.

ap Li was just a student when he first wanted to dip his feet into the world of lapping. Growing up around Hondas, he had an idea of where to start. He purchased his first B-swapped Honda Civic and never looked back. With no formal building experience, Li prides himself in having learned along the way, giving his car a true “built, not bought” story. ake Montgomery’s love affair with the DSM platform, and specifically the Eagle Talon, began back when he was in little league baseball in his younger years. His coach showed up one day in a brand new 1991 Eagle Talon, complete with AWD and a turbo. After a quick ride around the block, Montgomery was hooked. By the time he was 18, he had bought his first DSM, a naturally aspirated 1993 Eagle Talon which he would later turbocharge using OEM parts from a turbo model. In 2002, he picked up the 1992 Eagle Talon turbo model you see here. Over the years of ownership, his Talon has gone through countless setups, but all roads have led to this iteration you see before you. What was once a mid-9-second street car after extensive modification has become a full blown methanol burning 1,300 horsepower weapon. f it has wheels, there’s a good chance Nathan Kahler is a fan. Growing up around go-karts, motorcycles, and mini-trucks, it was only a matter of time before he found himself infatuated with drag racing and hot rodding. Kahler cut his teeth on drag racing with a 2JZ-swapped Volvo 940, but eventually decided he had to go all-out to pursue his drag racing dreams. When he finally got the chance to pick up a 1973 Datsun 240Z in town, he knew what he had to do. The Datsun at one point had an LS engine in it, as Kahler was trying to balance street driveability and drag racing prowess in the same build. As he spent more and more time at the track, he realized he would have to give up some street comforts, and eventually went full race car once he broke into 8-second passes. The 2JZ was just the next step in a long line of transformations. These days you can find Kahler slaying the strip at Import Face-Off events, representing for classic Japanese drag racer fans.

lexander Lichliter’s drifting career started off the same as many drifters - behind the wheel of a Nissan 240sx. As he became more dedicated and involved in competition, he decided to upgrade to a more modern chassis in the form of a 2014 Scion FR-S. The balanced platform had everything Lichliter needed, except ample horsepower. That issue was easily solved with the engine swap - an LM7 5.3L V8 paired with a Magnuson supercharger. With his sights set on Formula Drift PRO2, Lichliter has been honing his skills behind the wheel while making necessary changes to the car every year to keep up with the FD rule book. arlos Arrieta had built a couple of project drift cars before graduating to his current competition car, the 1993 Lexus SC300 you see here. Having previously worked on a 1987 Mazda RX-7, as well as a 1987 BMW E30 which his younger brother currently competes in, Arrieta set his sights on a new platform. The SC300 was different from the average drift cars in his local scene, and that made it all the more appealing. When his original 1JZ was blown at Stacked Motorsports Festival last year, he took the winter off-season to construct a badass 1.5JZ engine build complete with a stand-alone management system. Thanks to his team at InsaneWayz Motorsports, as well as some sponsors, his SC300 remains a potent competitor on the USDrift grid, and Arrieta is eyeing a spot in the Formula Drift field.
he 1989 Nissan 240sx you see here was actually Mike Power’s first ever project build. When he was first getting involved in drifting, he was lucky enough to have a close friend of his sell him the fairly clean S13 with an SR20 swap - the perfect platform to get his feet wet and get some seat time. In 2016 he attended his first drift event with Club Loose, and it’s been a never-ending story since then. As Power’s driving abilities improved, the car’s mechanical prowess improved as well. The SR20 was eventually replaced by a 2JZ-GTE VVTI so he could make a reliable 700-plus horsepower, and the car’s exterior was transformed with style in mind. Modifications were always a balance between overall function as well as ease of serviceability in an effort to maximize seat time and minimize time spent fixing the car in the pits. These days you can catch Power getting sideways at USDrift events in the same 240sx that started it all for him.

A decade ago, Sasha Anis was at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (AKA Mosport) in Bowmanville, Ontario, watching and listening to the 2008 GT2 cars wail as they entered turn two on the track, pushing the limits of what was possible in motorsport at the time. From that moment, he was completely hooked, and dreamed of building something similar and driving it to its limit.
ast forward to the modern day, and Anis is the founder of OnPoint Dyno, a mobile dyno tuning and race service shop that specializes in producing reliable and powerful vehicles, including many of their own project builds. Over the years, Anis and his team have built numerous competition winning vehicles, including their own Canadian Touring Car 240sx, a top DMCC 240sx, and three Hyundai Genesis coupes that would win the CTCC in 2012. Impressive as those builds are, none compare to his pride and joy - “Kels,” the 2003 Nissan 350Z

you see here. What originally started as an effort to build an endurance racing car slowly shifted into building the fastest possible GT car, built within the confines of GT car rules. This meant no insane aero, and the car had to run for more than five minutes at a time. With those parameters in mind, as well as a love for engine noises, the decision was made to keep the car naturally aspirated. Of course, that came with its fair share of challenges. “Getting enough power was a constant struggle,” says Anis. “We hit a wall at around 330 whp in 2010 for a couple of years, and then after adding ITBs we moved up to 370 whp. Even after switching to the VQ35HR, and doing
a lot of development work, we were stuck around 400 whp.” The answer to the team’s struggles came courtesy of a partnership with Jim Wolf Technology. When their 400 whp engine build threw a rod, they took a year off to build the dream VQ with JWT. A stroker engine with ported heads, custom pistons, big headers, large ITBs, and a ton of other advanced parts would end up making 537 whp with zero mechanical issues, becoming the centerpiece for the car. On September 17 of 2019, Anis and his team achieved what people said was impossible 10 years ago; they recorded a 1:18.1 lap time at Mosport - a time on par with GT2 cars of the
mid-to-late 2000s, and faster than any production car lap of the same track, which was a goal of Anis’ since the beginning of the journey. Today, Anis considers this his greatest achievement, and we would be hard pressed to claim differently. Utilizing trusted components throughout the build, and partnering with brands he knew he could rely on, OnPoint Dyno now holds numerous Time Attack lap records. With semi-secret plans for a hybrid system coming next year, this machine is only getting more impressive. A hearty congratulations goes out to Anis and his team at OnPoint Dyno. The horsepower wars have been raging for decades, and at the forefront of that war is Gideon Chamdi, a man who needs no introduction for the drag racing enthusiasts in our audience. For those unaware, Chamdi (AKA Gidi) has been racing a 2013 Nissan GT-R for several years, with power levels steadily climbing as he chases, and smashes, world records. Interestingly, he wasn’t always into cars. It was around 2013 when cars took over his life. A few years prior, he stumbled on a car magazine during some travel around Asia. As he became more and more interested, Gidi became hyper-focused on the competitive side of motorsports. Enter the Nissan GT-R.

ith a potent racing prowess and storied history, the GT-R was the car for him. Knowing immediately that the platform was capable of supercar-slaying horsepower levels made it all the more enticing. Over the years, Gidi amassed a few more fast cars, including two Lamborghini Gallardos which sit around the 2,500 horsepower mark today, but the GT-R was his true first love in the car world, and he wanted to hold the record spot for the fastest GT-R in the world. As the GT-R evolved through the iterations getting faster and faster, power levels increased in increments of at least 200 whp each time. What started as 700 whp became 900, 900 became 1,200, and so on and so forth until he reached the 3,000-plus horsepower monster you see before

you. Somewhere along the way, Gidi’s allegiances switched from AMS builds to Extreme Turbo Systems as his goals surpassed the AMS team’s capabilities and he wanted to push further for world records. Having piloted the first GT-R in the world to be in the 6-second pass club was definitely a career achievement for Gidi, but he says he isn’t done yet. Since taking on the partnership with ETS, Gidi and the team's GT-R has achieved first place at the GT-R World Cup in the Unlimited Class, and similar first place honors at TX2K19. With their names atop the GT-R high power and high-speed totem poles, Gidi and the team intend to fight for the top spot for as long as possible, improving the car with every pass.

he 1992 Nissan 300ZX you see before you is the result of more than 15 years of ownership and numerous different iterations. When Hadi originally picked up his Z32, the car was a completely stock naturally aspirated model. Because he was choosing between a Toyota Supra and the 300ZX, he quickly found the NA engine to be lacking what he was after, so a twin-turbocharged version of Nissan’s VG30 went under the hood. As that engine became too expensive and difficult to chase higher horsepower numbers with, he sourced the infamous RB26DETT from an R33 Skyline GT-R, and got to work. Unfortunately for Hadi, he left his

engine in the hands of not one, but two shops that left him unsatisfied with the results. Thankfully, after some patience and time, he found the right people for the job, and his Skyline heart transplant was bolstered top to bottom with a big single top-mounted Precision Turbo 6266 turbocharger, Kelford 272 cams, a GReddy intake manifold, Tomei head gasket, ARP head studs, and a Future Fab exhaust manifold. E85 Flex Fuel delivery is handled by a Walbro 452 fuel pump and some 1700cc injectors from Injector Dynamics. Coupled with some cooling goods, managed by an AEM Performance Electronics V2 stand-alone, and dressed up in Boost Candy custom titanium components throughout the engine bay, the RB26
is looking fantastic and making a healthy 620 horsepower at the rear wheels on a safe tune. Of course, getting that power from crank to rear wheels is another story altogether. Thankfully for Hadi, the RB26 bell housing is able to connect to the Z32’s 5-speed transmission after some slight modification. A custom tube chassis front end was fabricated with some integrated engine mounts that allow the RB to sit considerably lower than McKinney off-the-shelf engine mounts would. Not only does this allow a lower center of gravity, but installing and removing the RB from this point on would become significantly easier with more room and better front support thanks to the tubular front end.

With intentions to keep his build as well-rounded as possible, Hadi employed Tein Flex coilovers to bring ride height down to ground level with Tein’s Electronic Dampening Force Controller to adjust on the fly. SPL control arms in the front and rear, as well as a Stillen rear strut bar, keep handling abilities up to date, while a Ksport big brake kit with 8-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers provide stellar stopping power. Carefully chosen components in all areas are a result of Hadi taking pride in being the type of person who doesn’t cut corners or cheap out on his projects.
At ground level, a period correct set of Volk Racing GT-S wheels measuring 19x8 and 19x10.5 in the front and rear respectively, wrapped in some sticky yet streetable Nitto NT555R tires, 245/35/19 up front, and 285/30/19 in the rear. Finished in a beautiful satin black, the Volk wheels lend themselves to the car’s stealth fighter jet appearance quite well. With a combination of new and old aero additions and customized body components, the overall look of the dark gray Z32 is a subtle masterpiece. In the front of the car, immediately noticeable is a very special front fascia
