Located in the Star Points Building, the Barley Wellness Center offers state-of-the-art equipment, fitness classes and an indoor pool and spa. Trained staff will help you develop a personalized fitness program.

Our wellness staff will warm you up and cool you down with various exercises before and after a short walk. Join neighbors and friends for good music and conversation, all while contributing to a healthy, active lifestyle.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi has been described as meditation in motion, gentle flowing movement performed in a slow, focused manner. Anyone can participate, as Tai Chi places minimal stress on muscles and joints. Therefore, it is especially suitable and beneficial for older adults. The benefits of Tai Chi include decreased stress, increased energy, improved flexibility and improved balance.

Sean has performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Three Rivers Stadium, The Benedum, I.C. Light Amphitheater and the list goes on. He will be rocking the Assembly Room!

War I, The Great War”

Todd dives deeper into the start of World War I with an extended look at the German plan to win the war in six weeks in the summer of 1914. It was called the “The Schlieffen Plan,” named after the general who created it and who warned back in 1905 that his plan would grow more obsolete with each passing year. Schlieffen also told future German commanders about four specific threats to the plan’s success. All four warnings went unheeded. The Schlieffen Plan’s failure condemned Europe to a bloody stalemate in the trenches that began toward the end of the fateful year of 1914.

Acrylic for Dummies

This class is for those who have never painted or have limited acrylic painting experience. You will learn the history and unique characteristics of acrylics.

Push a Pastel Feb. 28 1 – 3 p.m. Art Studio

The ever-forgiving pastel will help a beginner create a frame-worthy art piece. Push a pastel on sanded paper, and see how you can surprise yourself. Learn about layering, and let the different effects of pastel gently guide you to success.

The 58th Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art is currently on exhibit. The International is highly regarded. It occurs every three to four years and is the oldest exhibition of its kind in North America. This year, over 100 artists and art collectives from around the world and locally are included. Masonic Village resident and Carnegie docent Alice Lieb, will be leading a one-hour tour of this deeply compelling exhibition entitled, “Is it morning for you yet?”
