When Iowa farmer Ray (Kevin Costner) hears a mysterious voice one night in his cornfield saying “If you build it, he will come,” he feels the need to act. Despite taunts of lunacy, Ray builds a baseball diamond on his land, supported by his wife, Annie. Afterward, the ghosts of great players start emerging from the crops to play ball, led by “Shoeless” Joe Jackson. However, Ray learns, this field of dreams is about much more than bringing former baseball greats out to play. The Barnstormers have brought enjoyment to over four million patrons since that memorable first game on May 11, 2005. During that time, the club has produced two championships, winning Lancaster’s first professional baseball title in more than half a century in 2006. The ‘Stormers repeated the feat in 2014. In addition to their successes in the standings, the Barnstormers have sent a number of players either back to the Major Leagues or to “The Show” for the first time. The Lower Paxton Township Variety Band is a 20 to 30-piece big band that emerged as an offshoot of director Jim Milbrand’s many years of teaching and his involvement with numerous bands and musicians since retirement. The band has been performing throughout the area at various events since the summer of 2007. The band’s musical repertoire ranges from big band to current recording artists and all the styles in between. The LPVB is the only regularly performing semi-professional jazz big band in the Harrisburg area. Please call ext. 33205 for transportation to this event. 4

Prepare to be entertained by Jim Correnti, a talented concert pianist. Jim studied at New York City’s Juilliard School as a scholarship student of Adele Marcus, receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in 1970. He has been a soloist with the Garden State Philharmonic Orchestra and the Plainfield Symphony (NJ) and does over 250 performances annually. Lancaster Farmland Trust is a leader in private farmland preservation and has more than 526 easements under its belt. Jointly, with the county’s Agricultural Preservation Board, Lancaster County has 112,000 acres of farmland preserved. Amanda Hickle, vice president of development and communications, will discuss the importance of fresh, local foods and preserving farmland.

Take a walk down memory lane with resident Judy Parrish as she explores the history of one of the most popular trolley parks in the United States: Willow Grove Park. This presentation looks at the park’s amusements and its fame, tragedies and triumphs from the early 1900s to its demise in 1976. Original postcards and memorabilia from the park will be displayed.

Geriactors Present Excerpts from “Spoon River” WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 1 P.M. Keystone Room
They’re back! The Masonic Village Geriactors will perform excerpts from the “Spoon River” anthology. The Geriactors perform in a reader’s theater style of acting. In this style, there is little in the way of costumes, props or scenery, and the actors use only scripts and vocal expression to help the audience understand the story. A second performance will take place on Monday, June 27, at 1 p.m., in the GLH Solarium.
“Forensic Friday” with Scott Baylor
FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 10 A.M. Keystone Room
Imagine you are a crime scene investigator and you are investigating a murder. The victim was slashed with a sharp scythe. The problem is that you have 15 suspects all with the same type of scythe, what do you do? A banker is kidnapped, the ransom is paid, and the banker is returned. He has blindfolded the entire ordeal and cannot identify his kidnappers, yet he manages to give the police enough evidence to catch the mobster. These are just a few of the cases we will be discussing during Forensic Friday.
Jay Smar Autobiographical Concert FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2 P.M. Keystone Room
This concert highlights people and songs which influenced Jay Smar and formed his career. One of the songs is “Spooky” by the Classic Four. Jay toured with this band for over two years. Other songs covered are “Dr. My Eyes” by Jackson Browne and “Cosmic Cowboy” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Jay will also highlight his original songs that boosted his career.

Distressed “Old Glories” will be properly & reverently disposed of during a ceremony on Saturday, June 25, 3 p.m. at the Brossman Parking lot (weather permitting). The ceremony will be conducted by members of York Camp, Heroes of 76 & Harrisburg Chapter 76, National Sojourners, Inc. in full colonial uniform. Numerous local organizations, leaders, employees, and administrative staff have been invited along with Masonic Youth Groups
DIRECTOR WANTED For more than 20 years, the Gentlemen Singers have brought the music of Christmas to our campus and community. Dressed in Dickensera gray greatcoats, red scarves, white gloves and top hats, the group of 15-25 men present a 30-minute program of Christmas carols and seasonal novelty songs that delight audiences. We are currently in search of a director to oversee music and rehearsals, along with booking concerts and writing the program announcing notes.

The historic Ringgold Band, located in Reading, is one of America’s first community bands. Ever since its formation in 1852, the band has continued a longstanding tradition of providing southeastern Pennsylvania with fine musical entertainment. The diverse concert will include familiar classics, challenging new works, symphonic overtures, show tunes, marches and more. The Ringgold Band is a community of music educators, freelance musicians, students and music lovers residing in and around Berks County. 7

Located in the Freemasons Cultural Center, the Baird Wellness Center offers an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, functional training, personal training and group fitness classes. Massage therapy and wellness workshops on mind, body and spirit are also offered.
This is an ongoing class. We will be on our wrists, arms and knees for certain postures. We will also focus on single leg postures. To prevent injury, if you are not comfortable with any of the above, be prepared to modify based on the suggestions the instructor provides.

This year, the feature work is Kim Andre Arnesen’s “Requiem,” written in 2013-14 for Nidaros Cathedral Boys Choir in Norway. Punctuated with percussion and brass, this piece includes both the Latin requiem text and poems of remembrance. This concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. and is located at Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. A freewill offering will take place at intermission.
Enjoy this interesting and informative guided tour by Randy Plummer. Randy is employed by the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. View the Memorial Day flag installation. This tour is approximately one and a half hours. Several stops will be made throughout the cemetery while on the tour.
