WELCOME

Hello... Welcome to issue 77 of Australian Simply Cards. As the kids go back to school, we often find more time for our crafting projects and, this issue, we have a fabulous issue packed with inspiration to get you through the coming month. To get you started, we have a fantastic free gift of a heart embossing folder and stamp set and if you head over to page 12, we have lots of ideas to inspire you. Our trend feature this month is influenced by photography. From Polaroids to camera images and snappy sayings, there are lots of products to help you create cards featuring this fun trend, and if you head over to page 16, Teresa Abajo shares her ideas for doing just that. Although summer is coming to a close, there is still time to celebrate the warmer months with some summer-themed creations. This issue, Tara Capewell creates a selection of gorgeous designs using the Tropical Punch range from Kaisercraft over on page 24. Whatever the time of year, getting more from your craft supplies is always important and, this issue, Karelyn Joy shows you how to use up those leftover scraps and create some budget-friendly cards over on page 32. Then, for something a little different, why not try your hand at some interactive designs? Melissa Barnicoat creates a collection of fun, playful cards over on page 42. This month, we also have some bright and cheerful friendship cards on page 58 and beautiful floral cards featuring die-cutting over on page 72. Now of course these are just the highlights, we also have all the latest news and the usual tips and tricks. So until next month… Happy crafting!

Young crafter

I’m from Taiwan and I bought your magazine from the local bookstore. I love reading it as well as the free gifts. Last weekend my girl, Crystal Hsu who is ten years old, used the free gift set to make cards. She inked with many colours to express her feelings. She has made cards for her teachers and classmates and they really like them. I really appreciate your team’s effort to offer us a chance to make these gorgeous cards. Laxmi Lai, by email

Birthday greetings

This is a birthday card I have just finished for my daughter. It took me about two days but I absolutely love it! I thoroughly enjoy your magazine and can’t wait for the next issue. Sandra Pilcher, Hobart ASC: It is always nice to see what our younger readers are creating. It looks like your daughter has made some lovely cards! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Reader update

In Issue 54 of Australian Simply Cards, you published a story about my cardmaking, calling it ‘A grand sum of cards’. At this time, the number of cards was 1,000. I am so pleased to let you know that I have now topped the sum of 2,000 cards made. Most of these are one-off makes using

I am fortunate that my mum is a subscriber to your magazine and lets me borrow her copies and some tools and stamps until I have been able to buy my own. I enjoy being able to design cards and learn new techniques.
