BEST AC/HEATING SERVICE and BEST PLUMBER

M and M Heating & Air Conditioning

110 Brown Cir., Longmont, (720) 366-1512, mandmhvac.com

Not all business owners agree about how to run a business—from providing employee training to making time to pay face-to-face visits to customers. “I go to the customer’s home to supervise the job from beginning to end, and I think our customers really appreciate that,” says Owner, Eric Meiers. To go the extra mile, he even requires technicians to wear booty covers over their shoes while working in customers’ homes. Winning the Best Plumber category was an added source of pride, for Meiers. Though he started his business in 1998, he only added plumbing to the list of service offerings three years ago and this is his second year to win in that category. Whether it’s a leaky toilet, backed up drains or the garbage disposal bit the dust, M and M Heating & Air Conditioning technicians are eager to help with service and repairs. “To get these two awards is extremely humbling. I’m so proud. Thank you,” says Owner Eric Meiers.

In addition to collision repair, they also do a mean custom paint job. Whatever the reason behind a trip to Perfection Auto Body & Glass, customers can expect nothing less than the utmost in professionalism — the proof of their commitment to quality is in the faces and testimonials of many satisfied customers. UCHealth Longmont Clinic

As one of the first medical clinics of its kind in the state of Colorado, UCHealth Longmont Clinic has a rich history of caring for generations of families in Longmont and the St. Vrain Valley. The 110-year tradition that began with doctors practicing medicine in a horse drawn carriage has evolved to serving the community with the most advanced medical specialists and surgeons. In 2015, the clinic began a new chapter in its history as UCHealth Longmont Clinic—opening new doors to a vast network of specialists, researchers and pioneers in medicine. While the name is slightly different, the clinic’s legacy of outstanding care, compassion and commitment to the community will never change, said Deborah Chandler, the CEO of UCHealth’s Colorado Health Medical Group. “It is certainly an honor to be recognized by the community as the best health/medical facility for the third consecutive year. This honor is a testament to the commitment of our physicians, nurses and staff to provide extraordinary care to every patient, every day,” Chandler said. Happy Hounds Dog Care Center

1822 Sunset Pl., #2, Longmont, (303) 774-8158, happyhoundscolorado.com

Six time award winners, Happy Hounds Dog Care Center has happily served Longmont’s best friends since 2008, offering boarding, daycare, and basic grooming in their deluxe facility. The team is never far away, providing interaction and supervision over play times. Boarding is available in a limited number of luxury suites or lodges, and on-site overnight supervision is included, so your doggie will never be lonely. In the daycare, adult pooches get the chance to enhance their existing social skills and puppies learn about dog-to-dog greetings, appropriate vs. inappropriate play, and how to interact with other dogs and multiple staff members. Grooming services are the equivalent of the best salon in town! Services from ear cleaning and nail trimming to full baths, and deshedding treatments make even the dirtiest dog gleam. Owners, Brian and Olivia Neill, are dog lovers at heart and have spared nothing in creating the area’s best dog care center. “Our customers appreciate the personal side of what we do,” says Olivia. “Our staff members go the extra mile, doing small things that show real care for both the dogs and their owners. It’s a true honor to us that our customers would take the time to vote for us six years in a row!”

Life Care Center of Longmont 2451 Pratt St., Longmont, (303) 776-5000 lcca.com/72

When the time comes to find an alternate living arrangement for your aging loved one, it’s never an easy decision. Whether a family needs short term rehab services or long term care, Admissions Director, Joleen McGee, says the residents who stay at Life Care Center of Longmont feel like it’s their home away from home. McGee attributes their success to dedicated staff who work well together and know how to create a homey environment for residents. “It’s a very loving and compassionate atmosphere. At St. John the Baptist Catholic School, they believe that a school is as good as the teachers, staff and students make it, and according to Principal Kemmery Hill, those at St. John’s make it pretty special. “Words are not enough to describe the enthusiasm and energy that pulses through the halls of St. John’s,” Hill says. Being an active part of a community is something that is upheld both within and without the walls of the school. “We are all in this together. We are more than just a building and classrooms; we are a vibrant collection of students, faculty and staff,” Hill says. For those that think that a Catholic education is out of their reach, Hill wants them to know that they go the extra mile to work with any family to make it accessible to their children. McIntosh Lake

It’s a beautiful Colorado afternoon and you want to get outside. You don’t want to go too far, but you want to see the mountains. You want some “wild space” but the option to bring a snack and lay out on the grass sounds really tempting. Or maybe you want to bike, or canoe, or fish. You can do all of those things and more at McIntosh Lake. It’s no real wonder that it has been voted Longmont’s Best Spot to Jog, Bike, Walk or Hike. Not only do the surrounding miles of trails offer commanding views and peaceful lake serenity, they also connect to Dawson Park, Flanders Park and Boulder County’s Lohr Open Space, giving plenty of opportunity to hop off the trail for more organized recreation such as tennis, basketball, or volleyball. Bring the family, including Fido as long as he’s on a leash, and enjoy Longmont’s outdoor best. Second: Golden Ponds Park, 2651 3rd Ave. Longmont

Open for 11 years, Sushi Hana gives customers “good, consistent quality,” said owner Andrew Sun. When asked what customers love about his restaurant, Sun said, “Freshness, ambience, cleanliness and our friendly service. We have been here a long time, giving the same authentic Japanese touch.” As a long-time Main Street staple, Sun says his business is mostly repeat customers. “We have a lot of regulars,” he says. “Most of the people, I know them by name.” Sun is strict about what he offers on his menu. “What I don’t know extremely well, I won’t do it,” he says. “Why have a huge menu if you can’t do it perfectly?” All fish is cold-water fish from around the world, with such seasonal offerings as white salmon, bluefin, wolf fish, giant clam, razor clam and codfish sperm. All condiments are served cold on ice, adding to the flavor, Sun said. Sushi Hana’s Master Sushi Chefs are highly trained in the art of sushi preparation, and use quality ingredients and high-grade fish daily in the dishes they prepare. Sushi Hana offers a variety of dishes outside of sushi, included Japanese ramen noodles, sesame chicken, mango shrimp, and papaya salad.

Goodfella’s features a wide variety of eggs, benedicts, skillets, french toast, waffles, their famous German pancake and more. Their food mission is to create hearty portions of down home cookin’ using locally sourced ingredients and homemade recipes. They strive to provide value and excellent menu items in a cozy welcoming atmosphere—breakfast (all day!), lunch and dinner. “Supreme Professionalism—Attentive, Knowledgeable and Caring” This means that their staff will be extremely well trained, knowledgeable and accommodating. Their Fella’s motto is ‘Welcome to the Family” and they mean it. With a small crew there is more expected of everyone. Everything gets noticed and any lapses in service or food quality stand out. The happiness of the patrons is the primary goal. With many several years in this industry they asked themselves what major contributing factors lend to the goal of excellence. First, the absolute necessity for food and drink quality. Second, but no less important, servers being themselves with a professional and casual service style that is welcoming to patrons from one to a hundred. Being able to determine the needs of each particular patron is an integral part of being an exceptional service provider and delivering a memorable restaurant experience. With its modern industrial feel, the owners of Wibby Brewing just knew they had found the right space to create the right vibe for their brew-happy customers. Although it’s a behemoth at 8300 square feet, owners Ted Risk and Ryan Wibby said, “It’s something we can grow into as we continue to expand our distribution footprint.” They started with three 30 barrel fermenters and six 30 barrel horizontal laggering tanks and have since added three additional 30 barrel fermentors, says Risk. What’s so unique about this brewery, you ask? All they do is lager—which is not the easiest of brew to master. Top three sellers include Lightshine Helles, Wibby IPL (an IPA style lager), and their newest seasonal available in 12-ounce cans, the Lightshine Radler. It a tasty mix of the Lightshine Helles and raspberry lemonade. They keep eight to 12 brews on tap at all times— that way you just might get hooked on a lager that flows at Wibby Brewing. After 16 years in Longmont, Santiago’s knows what burrito-lovers...well, love. A casual family restaurant environment and breakfast, lunch and dinner options with a taste of Mexico that is “authentic, affordable and always fresh,” said Craig Morales, co-owner of Santiago’s with his wife Annette.“We believe we only have one chance to impress a customer,” Craig said. In the A.M., breakfast burritos come filled with a different meat each weekday, with a chef ’s choice on Saturday. For the afternoon crowd, Craig said popular deluxe burritos like the beef and bean, and steak are “good for afternoon or nighttime.” Though the burritos can be served plain, Craig said customers often return for the green chile. Available in hot, mild or half-and-half, it’s served inside or smothered on top of all burritos. The deluxe choice takes the smothered option and adds lettuce, cheese and tomato on top.

Owners Ryan and Janel Elmore are honored that the residents of Carbon Valley voted their restaurant for the people›s choice awards. Pepper’s Fireside Grille is a casual restaurant featuring a variety of scratch made American dishes and fun cocktails. “We are very excited to receive this award!” said Ryan Elmore. “We created this restaurant with a simple concept, food, family and fun. Ziggi’s Coffee

Culver’s

“Making a cup of coffee or a latte is the easy part for us,” says Kathryn Miller, Director of Marketing and Communications at Ziggi’s Coffee. “What sets us apart...is the dedication we put towards providing an excellent customer experience, as it’s our goal to make someone’s day a little bit better.” Staff takes time with each customer, getting to know them and always greets everyone with a smile. That dedication to service is what keeps them winning, and expanding. Soon, they’ll be opening their first franchised location in Loveland, with plans for more to come, and it all started with Longmont. “We love our customers and the support they have given us throughout the years, especially as we continue to grow our business. Longmont will always be home to us and we couldn’t have asked for a better community to be a part of,” Kathryn says.

What’s better than a delicious butter burger? A delicious butter burger, followed by a thick frozen custard, of course. When you’re just in the mood to get your Wisconsin on, Culver’s is there, providing you traditional cheese curds, Wisconsin cheddar and fresh Midwestraised beef for hand-crafted burgers you can’t beat with a stick. And, if burgers aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other menu options including chicken, fish and shrimp dinners, as well soups and salads. Round out your meal with their signature frozen custard flavor of the day or bend a spoon in their tasty Concrete Mixer—customized with your favorite mix-in treats. Whatever you choose, it’s all served up fast and friendly at Culver’s!

Your Butcher, Frank is much more than a butcher. Sandwiches piled high with hearty, healthy ingredients on natural bread are the specialty at Your Butcher, Frank. Variety is at the core of their service. “We have a huge selection, not just the basic 10 meats and cheeses,” said owner Ron Lamb. “There are about 60 different items customers can choose from.” Sandwiches at Your Butcher, Frank incorporate multiple high-end products, from low-salt, MSG-free meat to locally baked bread. And if it’s overwhelming, the friendly staff can help with questions on what to order. “All of our employees are educated on what we carry,” Ron said, “and we like to educate the customer about what they’re buying.” Second: Snarf’s Sandwiches—Longmont Locations: 2130 Mountain View Ave., (303) 702-1111; 645 Ken Pratt Blvd., (303) 774-1441; eatsnarfs.com Third: The Brooklyn Deli & Grill, 1515 Main St., Longmont, (303) 684-8400, thebrooklyndeli.com

BEST HAPPY HOUR and BEST RESTAURANT

(720) 204-6455, eatcomida.com

Mike O’Shays Restaurant & Ale House

512 Main St., Longmont, (303) 772-0252, mikeoshays.com

What could possibly be better than a Mexican restaurant? How about a bright pink food truck serving authentic Mexican food on wheels? Well, Comida—the food truck—makes the authentic Mexican food on wheels fantasy, a Colorado reality. The Comida truck travels throughout Colorado’s Front Range office parks and communities feeding customers with simple, consistent and delicious authentic Mexican flavors. The Comida truck is big enough to cook all the menu items on-site. The Comida menu includes: tacos, tostadas, quesadillas and gorditas. “Our food is delicious, we’re consistent, and we love to make friends,” Rayme Rossello, owner and operator, says. “Every single menu item is made by us. We don’t open cans and our food is 100 percent homemade.”

After 12 years as the reigning best restaurant, and 36 years in business, O’Shays still manages to keep things fresh. “We keep the menu current and on trend without abandoning old favorites,” says owner, Mike Shea. Creative items, like Irish egg rolls, and new additions, like shrimp and grits, are not to be missed. Seasonal daily specials give customers a lot of variety to choose from—even gluten free options—including some of the desserts created from scratch by Shea’s wife, Nania. At O’Shays, delicious food is just a part of the experience. Service is ever a priority and friendly staff will take great care of you. Their happy hour is so popular that they’ve expanded it! Now, stop by from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday- Saturday for $1 off wells, drafts, and wine as well as ‘Hot and Cold Bites’ from 4-6 p.m. “We have a great wine list and we’re serving a lot of local craft beers,” says Shea, “I pick wines by the season. We have an extensive—not expensive— by-the glass menu.” As for beer and cocktails? Both the beer selection and the cocktail ingredients include locals. Throughout the years, the Shea’s have remained grateful. “We appreciate those customers that have been coming since the day we opened and the new ones moving into the neighborhood,” says Shea.

3 Margaritas Family Mexican Restaurant Jefes Tacos & Tequila is known as much for its sublime margaritas and California charm as its devotion to Longmont. Ten percent of Jefes earnings are donated to charity. And the restaurant partners with Longmont suppliers for produce and meat. Chef and co-owner Sean Garner uses only Dulce Vida organic tequila and fresh fruit in his margaritas. “Our rock marg is famous for our delicious toasted chili rim,” he said. After nearly two decade in the industry, Garner still endeavors to “make sure customers have a good time eating, drinking and hanging with friends.” He added, “We just don’t want to be anywhere other than downtown Longmont.” Second: CYCLHOPS Bike CANtina, 600 S. At 3 Margaritas, the original margarita is always made from scratch, never from mixes, and includes fresh lime juice, Cointreau, and the patron’s choice of tequila. According to Manager Juan Rodriguez, in addition to its margaritas, the restaurant is also known for “consistent quality and presentable plates. I learned from a famous chef years ago that people eat with their eyes, and I believe that is true,” he said. Using the highest quality ingredients in their salsas, meats and other dishes, 3 Margaritas serves food in a friendly atmosphere that Rodriguez says “makes it feel like home.” On Monday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., 3 Margaritas features a mariachi band. “Customers love it,” Rodriguez said. Tuesday is Seniors’ Day with specials. And in appreciation of the two awards they have won, the restaurant will offer some free margaritas. “When you combine all these things… location is important, but it’s also important to be consistent with food and service and the way you treat customers. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

The Roost

1935 Main St., Longmont, (720) 552-8009, dickeys.com

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit takes a whopping 14 hours to craft each finger-licking barbecue meal. Gary Kolm, who opened Dickey’s with his wife and daughter in 2016, explained, “Our brisket and pulled-pork is slowsmoked using hickory each night for the perfect barbecue flavor.” All meats are cut and prepared in the sight of customers and served with a smorgasbord of traditional barbecue side dishes. Dickey’s also specializes in barbecue cater-

ing.

Kolm, a Longmont resident for 20 years, said, “I was ecstatic to hear that we had been named Longmont’s ‘Best New Restaurant.’ We guarantee that we will continue to provide the highest quality Texas-style barbecue.” Second:

Sean Gafner, Executive Chef and Owner of The Roost, spent 18 years in the fine dining industry in California before moving to Longmont and opening The Roost last year. This fine dining style in a casual setting is what sets The Roost apart from other restaurants. “In fine dining, the most important thing is just finding great product and then really simply preparing it,” he says. “People like to eat food that is fresh and makes you feel great for eating it.” Dan Lance, Gafner’s best friend and business partner, found the location for The Roost before Gafner moved to Longmont. The rooftop patio and bar were major sellers for the partners, as well as the building’s location on Main Street. “We wanted to stay in downtown Longmont because we just love the culture down here,” Gafner says. “This is the number one town where we would want to open a restaurant. It’s really art-forward and food-forward and it has rich culture that just make the people something special.” Second:

The secret to Mama Mead’s Pizzeria’s winning deliciousness hails from New York. Gibbons gave up corporate life to open a pizzeria with her son in 2009 and draws on recipes she savored as a child on the East Coast. “This is a small mom and pop shop that has grown from nothing to obviously something over the years,” Gibbons said. “We owe it all to our customers for supporting us.” Second: Rosalee’s Pizzeria, 461 Main St., Longmont, (303) 485-5020, rosaleespizzeria.com Third:

It’s a history you feel as soon as you enter the room. The grandeur of days gone by makes everything from the most casual gathering, to a favorite musician, to a luxe wedding, an event to remember. When you host everything from formal parties, to dances, to burlesque and, of course, musicians, the space has to be versatile enough to handle it all and that makes Dickens unique among venues. The Loaf & Ladle menu has an abundance of southern, Cajun and familial influences. Finding the perfect lunch combination is easy. With hundreds of people across several different troupes, they offer up fun entertainment year round as well as off-season opportunities for kids to get bitten by the theater bug. In honor of their anniversary, and their work with nonprofits and the arts, Bin 46 will be producing the Bin Market & Chalk Art Festival, September 30-October 1, featuring chalk artists, food and wine and local artisan vendors. Berthoud Floor Covering and Carpet Cleaning has a straightforward recipe for success. “We have good prices and high quality workmanship,” says Owner Mike Grine. “We do what we say we’re going to do.” That attitude has allowed Grine to almost entirely avoid marketing for the life of his business. “All of our business in the last 19 years has been pretty much word of mouth,” he says. “We don’t do high production. We get a lot of jobs done and they’re all done right the first time.” Berthoud Floor Covering and Carpet Cleaning has flooring in stock for quick flooring jobs, and they are also available 24/7 for restoration in case of flood damage. Lifestyle Consignments

Jill Cutler, owner of Lifestyle Consignments, says customers often ask if the furniture in her store is new, despite the fact that “consignment” is in the title. “We’re very picky about condition, manufacturer quality, trendiness, and marketability,” she says. “What makes our store unique to resale is the high quality and the high standards we have in our merchandise.” This, combined with friendly staff and the upbeat atmosphere that Cutler works hard to maintain, is why people love to shop at Lifestyle Consignments. They not only offer a fun shopping experience, but also an opportunity to give back through a program called “Consign for a Cause.” A consigner can choose to donate their 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of their gently used items to a nonprofit of their choice. “We will immediately create a consigner account for that nonprofit,” says Cutler. “We designate the nonprofit as the consigner and the money automatically goes to them.” Second: Fabulous Finds Upscale Consignment, 600 S. WK Real Estate is the largest independent real estate agency in Boulder County, with over 95 agents calling the locally-owned company home. For more than four decades, buyers and sellers have appreciated the ease and confidence of working with WK Real Estate’s knowledgeable and experienced agents. Good service is all about building relationships. “It’s not about the transaction,” says broker/owner Dan Kingdom. “It’s not about anything other than taking care of our customers’ needs.” Much has changed in the real estate industry since 1976. Kingdom says a purchase can now go from start to finish without a single slip of paper. Despite these changes, WKRE’s focus has remained the same. “The one constant has been the focus and priority of the customer service we are delivering to our valued clients,” says Kingdom. One thing that will never change: their support of local civic groups and sponsorship of community events, including the Longmont Lights fireworks.

141 5th St., Frederick, (303) 833-3140, georgiaboys.com

Matt Alexander opened the first Georgia Boys BBQ Company with his friend Nick Reckinger in 2011. Georgia Boys follows a deeply southern recipe in which the meat is smoked with hickory wood, says Alexander. “Hickory trees don’t grow much west of the Mississippi, so we have to get all that wood shipped in from the east. It gives it a distinct smoked flavor that you don’t find very often.” With a kid-friendly park overlooked by a back patio, and an extensive tap selection, The Smokehouse makes an excellent destination for families and anyone craving some traditional southern barbecue. Linda Snyder, third generation owner of Snyder Jewelers, knows that running a business isn’t just making a sale. It all comes down to building relationships. BEST LIQUOR STORE and BEST LOCALLY OWNED STORE

Wyatt’s Wet Goods

1250 S. Hover Rd., Longmont, (303) 485-9463, culverswetgoods.com

Wyatt’s Wet Goods is the largest retail liquor store in Longmont, but it takes more than floor space to be the best! Wyatt’s sources many suppliers in the U.S. and beyond to pass along the best prices to their customers. “We are very selective and maintain a true ‘value for flavor’ profile that our customers enjoy,” says Dennis Dinsmore, managing partner. “We are local, family owned and managed. Managing partners, Joe Henry and I, are each long term residents and we are connected with our community.” Wyatt’s Wet Goods works with local groups like A Woman’s Work, Left Hand Brewing and Longmont Downtown Development to help make their events a success. “We are humbled to have you, our customers, vote us the best Liquor Store in Longmont both of our first two years as well as “Best New Business” in 2016 and “Best Locally Owned Store” in 2017. We appreciate your confidence and will work hard to maintain that high level of customer service that you deserve,” says Dinsmore. “Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.”

Locally owned by Glen and Jenni Rademacher, Brick House BBQ has been serving up their savory Hickory Smoked Barbecue since 2008. Brick House BBQ

Lyons Fork

The crew at Lyons Fork has worked hard to put Lyons on the culinary map, and by all reports, they have succeeded. Located at the fork of the rolling St. Vrain river and housed in Lyons’ original 1881 saloon, this laid back restaurant combines great old-west character with today’s farm-to-table sensibilities. “We are food-centric, beer-driven and margarita-adoring,” says Debbie Anderson, owner and general manager. Customers enjoy a total experience of food and drink, a charming environment and stellar service. As a local independent business, Lyons Fork employs 20 people and adds to the community experience with events such as popular beer and wine pairing dinners. Second:

Guitars Etc.

Niwot Market

There’s something for everyone at Guitars, Etc., says owner Todd Skaw. “We cater all the way from beginning musicians to playing professionals,” he says. “We have entry level prices and high end professional gear.” This summer, the store will start carrying some high-end new products, including TwoRock amplifiers and Fodera basses. For budding rock stars, Guitars, Etc. holds week-long summer rock camps that culminate in a concert in the store’s 100-seat basement venue, complete with an autograph-signing session and photoshoot. Registration is available at guitarsetc.net.

Alison Steele, who co-owns Niwot Market with her father Bert and brother Seth, says that the store’s small size allows them to better support the local food industry. “We are able to buy local produce that comes directly from the farmers and support new, local food companies that can’t get into the big chain grocery stores,” she says. But Niwot Market isn’t just a place to pick up groceries. The store roasts their own coffee, caters, and hosts community events like their Friday Night Patio Dinners with a buffet and live music, starting on June 2. “We offer more than just food,” Steele says. “We offer a welcoming place to come.” Second: Bootstrap Brewing Company, 6778 N. 79th St.

BEST PROSPECT BUSINESS

Big Daddy Bagels

At many thrift stores, shoppers have to dig through junk for a lucky find. Brad Johnson, manager of the Longmont Humane Society Thrift Store, says their model is different. “We don’t carry junk,” he says. “We’re a little bit higher-end and a lot better quality than the thrift stores in the area.” From bicycles to art prints to collectibles, Johnson says he’s consistently amazed at how many pristine items come into the store. Not only does the store offer an excellent shopping experience, but shoppers can also feel good about supporting a worthy cause. “Aside from the bare bones costs of running the store, every single penny that comes in this door goes to the shelter,” he says. Before many Prospect New Town residents head out for work or the weekend, they make their bagel-and-a-coffee stop at Big Daddy Bagels. The friendly shop serves up neighborhood ambiance with every visit. “We’re a community destination, ideally located in a Live & Work neighborhood,” says Rebecca Beauprez, who founded the company in 1996 with her husband Reed. “Rain or shine, folks know they can stop in and meet their neighbors. We’ve watched our young customers become adults and bring in their own children.” You don’t have to live in Prospect to enjoy Big Daddy’s, Beauprez says. “We want everyone in Longmont to make this their bagel store.” Second:
