Earl C. Fager

Earl C. Fager died on July 6, 2016. He was born on September 24, 1934 in Walsh, Colorado to Everett and Leola Fager. At age 7, the family moved to Canon City where Earl grew up and attended school. After graduating from high school, he served in the navy and later went to acting and dance school, eventually touring with the musical “My Fair Lady.” Later he moved to New York, and then Europe, working in the restaurant business in France and Lebanon, while auditioning for acting jobs. Eventually, he returned to the United States to live and work, first in Chicago and later in Denver.

Edward Abeyta Edward with his granddaughter Ava Edward Abeyta, born April 29, 1964, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2016. Ed was a very compassionate, hardworking man who would help anyone who needed it.

Zetta Corzett

He retired from his job as a dispatcher for the Denver Police Department, and moved back to Canon City where he spent the rest of his life. Earl is survived by his sister, Josie Makin, his nieces Cathy Preston and Kay Farland, his nephew Mark Makin, and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 p. m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p. m. at Holt Family Funeral Home, 806 Macon Ave. Canon, CO 81212. Arrangements under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.

He considered everyone a friend. Ed was most proud of his granddaughter Ava, who he loved with all his heart. Ed will always be remembered by his softball girls who thought the world of him and considered him their “second dad”. He always left a lasting impression on you, even if you met him for the first time. Ed is survived by his wife Julie; daughters, Amanda (Matthew) Kibel and Kamille Abeyta; granddaughter, Ava Kibel; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Ed is preceded in death by his

grandparents Charlie and Stella; his mom, Charlotte; brother, Ramsey; and his beloved dog Midnight. He will be missed by so many people. Ed would want everyone to be kind to one another and pay it forward whenever you can. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday July 16th 2016, at Rouse Park in the west pavilion. Diane Marie (Hutton) Andrews

Diane Andrews Born in Hayden, CO, to David George Hutton and Francis Marie (Roope) Hutton of Craig, CO. At the age of two Diane moved to Canon City CO, with her parents were she attended primary and secondary school, graduating from Canon City High School in 1967. Diane married Timothy D. Andrews on June 15, 1968 in Canon City and they moved to Castle Rock, CO where she worked with her husband. After her husband joined the Navy she moved to Chicago, IL, and Rota, Spain to be with him. Diane was very active in her community, serving as a Cub Scout leader, on the PTO for Harrison Grade School,

then as president of the Canon City High School band boosters club. In 1988 she headed up the fundraising to send the full band to Old Mexico and then once again in 1990 she took on the job of doing the fundraising to buy new uniforms. The CCHS Band got to wear the new uniforms for the 1991 Canon City Blossom Festival. Diane also served on the Canon City Blossom Festival Committee and the Christmas parade committee. She was in a clown group and had the name of Jingles doing face painting and having fun with many kids. Diane returned to Canon City in 1970 and worked for the Canon City Daily Record. Once her husband returned from the service, Diane worked for both the Andrews Funeral Home and Mountain Vale Memorial Park. She is survived by her loving husband and friend Tim Andrews as well as her brothers David Thomas Hutton (Kathy), of Casper, WY, and Kevin Lee

Hutton (Sheri Leonard Hutton), of Coaldale, CO; by Children and grandchildren Mark Andrews and his children Levi, Eion, Timothy and Cassandra. Michael Andrews and his children are Alex and Kody. Zetta Corzett Zetta Corzett was born Susan Jane Carter to Harold and Evelyn Carter on March 5, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois. Sixty-three years later, on July 4, 2016, she made her transition in Canon City, Colorado. Zetta was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Sam Carter. She is survived by her brother Steven Carter

of North Carolina, halfsister Elizabeth Northrup of Roscoe, Illinois, halfbrother Tom Carter of Rockford, Illinois, as well as nieces Krista Bennett, Jasa Northrup and Kyla Carter, and nephew Ryan Bennett. Zetta grew up in Rockford, Illinois and went on to study social work. She became a licensed clinical social worker and worked in several arenas, including drug and alcohol rehabilitation, mental health, and finally as a hospice social worker with Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Canon City. Between her career stints as a social worker, Zetta was immensely creative in her job choices, which

included school bus driver, deli worker, construction worker, factory worker, and pet sitter. After learning that she had serious health issues related to a long-term illness, Zetta focused on living more consciously and exploring what happens when we die. She inspired friends and colleagues with her practical and frank conversations on dying and the value of living each day with joy. Zetta leaves behind many dear friends, a caring and devoted community, and her beloved dogs, Skyler and Sunny, whom she credits with teaching her deep, unconditional love. A private Celebration of Life will held at a later date.

Margaret Brown Margaret “Pegi” Louise Brown, 72, passed away June 28, 2016. She was born August 6, 1943 to Lloyd and Ellen (Morris) Lamoreaux in Denver, Colorado. Margaret was a vibrant member of Fremont County and many will remember her for owning the roller skating rink for so many years. She was also

a hair stylist, past president of the Canon City Chamber of Commerce and an agent with Keller Williams Real Estate. When Margaret wasn’t busy with her various entrepreneurial activities, you would probably find her at a car show; as she was an avid car enthusiast. She and her husband, Dan Brown, were known to drag race and built several Hot Rods together. After Dan’s passing, she met Bob Kaschebufski at a car show and quickly became involved with car and RV camping clubs he belonged to. Together they were founding members of several Car and RV clubs and relished the time they spent together traveling and

Robert Benson, 68, of Canon City, passed away July 12, 2016. He was

born August 21, 1947 to Earle and Helen (Nelson) Benson in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He was an auto mechanic by trade for many years, but also loved antiques. Robert, along with his wife Rose Ann, spent their retirement years dealing in antiques and had a blast doing so. Robert also was passionate about his gardening and spent many hours working and growing his garden each summer. He is survived by his sons, Robert Benson,

Royal Gorge Regional Museum presents the American Day of the Cowboy Goodnight and his drovers chose for swing stations and, of course, the settling of his Pueblo Rock Canyon Ranch in 1868. She also talks about the Nolan Land Grant, the large range the Longhorns grazed, including the Babcock’s Hole Ranch in Wetmore, the building of his magnificent stone barn in 1870 and his eventual move to the Palo Duro Canyon in the Panhandle of Texas in 1876. They had been obedient to “that form of teaching.” The word that is translated “form” or “pattern” comes from the Greek TUPOS, which means a mold or exact representation. Their obedience to that form of teaching changed their status from lost to saved and it was the same teaching that saved other folks in other places. Paul preached the same message of salvation wherever he went, as did other first-century evangelists. The facts of that message - the gospel were that Jesus Christ had been crucified, buried, resurrected and ascended. The commands of that message were to believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 8:24); repent of sins (Luke 13:3); confess faith in Jesus (Matthew 10:31) and be baptized (Mark 16:15-16). The promises of obedience were forgiveness of sins and salvation (Acts 2:37-47). When we read the book of Acts, we see people becoming Christians by obeying that same pattern of teaching. Adherence to that pattern was insisted upon and any deviation was warned against (Galatians 1:89; Jude 3; Revelation 22:18-19). All are free to choose: either to reject the gospel of Christ and remain in a lost condition or be obedient to the gospel and be saved.
