We are so thrilled to be selling our first ever bull sale online. As the world progresses and we buy more and more of our everyday items online, we feel that this is just another convenience for producers to take advantage of. Bulls always look their best at home and all the risks and costs of a live sale are avoided while we provide full videos of the animals. This allows us to offer a choice group of bulls, bulls selected and grown for their individual strengths, not just to fill quota that helps offset sale costs. It is a double edge sword that our numbers are less, but it allows us to focus on delivering the best of what our program is designed to do. We operate on a strict hands-free calving ease policy; all the genetics are based in calving ease and modest birthweight as to never risk any calving issues and selection is then focused on maternal calving ease, as one can often contradict the other. Our cowherd is small, but mighty and as we have been breeding Simmentals for over twenty years now, we have a cross section of each facet: flecks, reds, and blacks. The bulls and their mothers and siblings are all available for viewing anytime; please do not hesitate to call/text or just stop by. We are located 1 mile west of Rossburn on Highway #45, Turn North on Rd#145 and go 1.5 miles north and we are on the east side. You can also contact sales management for further help in bull purchasing needs. We are happy to keep the bulls until you need them free of charge; but require that you insure them, as buyer assumes ALL risk after the sale. We are also happy to arrange delivery at earliest convenience for both the buyer and the seller. All bulls will be selling under the standard terms and conditions set forth by the Canadian Simmental Association.

Welcome to the 2020 AJB Livestock Online Bull Sale. We at First Class Cattle Marketing are truly honoured that Amy & Devin have asked us to be a part of this inaugural event. This year Amy and Devin have decided to sell their bulls in an online auction using the DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auction platform. This is a relatively new concept to the bull sale world, the bidding will open up on March 14 at 9:00 am and will close out on March 16 at 7:00 pm with a horse race style finish. Please remember that your regular DLMS account will not work for this sale, you will need to log on to the DLMS Farm Gate site and create a new account to participate in this sale if you haven’t already. “How to Bid” information is located on page 1 of the catalogue. On offer are 15 top quality Simmental bulls represented by fullblood, black & red, calving ease & power. These bulls are the kind of true beef bulls that the industry needs. Stout, hairy, functional. Sound in their makeup and bred and fed to go out and work and to last to their upmost potential. The bulls are backed by a very impressive set of momma cows. Amy & Devin are very particular on the females they wish to sell their customers bulls from. Udders, feet, soundness, temperament and do-ability are all a definite must. The same goes for sire selection. You will not see new fads or “flash in the pan” sires chased in this herd. If a new sire cannot be found that checks all the boxes, then an older, bulletproof, proven sire will be used again. Selecting females and herd sires this way, and an extraordinary attention to detail has led to this truly great set of bulls that is presented to you in the 2020 AJB Online Bull Sale. So please bid and buy with the upmost of confidence and remember that the bulls are guaranteed 100%. Please study your catalogue in detail and give Amy a call with any questions on the offering. The entire team and First Class Cattle Marketing will also be very familiar with the set of bulls and it will be our pleasure to assist you in the purchase of your new AJB herd sire in a confidential and professional manner. Also give Mark Shologan at DLMS a call with any questions about bidding. If you do so wish, please plan on visiting the farm prior to the sale for an excellent bull tour from the folks at AJB Livestock as well as some top shelf hospitality. Best Regards, Darnell Fornwald - First Class Marketing

Born a herdbull, everyone who has seen Treasure Island throughout his growth curve has fallen in love with him. He has the soft eye and dominating presence of a great Fleckvieh herdsire, with his loose-made depth, length, and natural muscling. His mother has not missed a beat. She has raised only herdbulls and a daughter that will never leave the farm. With her first son working for Richie Joynt, the length, color, and overall eye appeal is something that is dominant in her progeny. These are the first Bellagio sons to sell and this smooth polled powerhouse is a great start to our first ever sale book.

This blaze-faced Bellagio son is rolling in style and hair. His mother also has the blaze face and she offers some old power fleck blood with throwbacks to Western Union 5Z, and Houston. Great hair, high maternal, fertility and longevity, and performance without sacrificing too much calving ease; these Bellagio calves have great feet and are smooth travelling individuals that really have exceeded our expectations.

One of my favourites, this is unique blood here!! High Country is lonnnnggg spined. Five extra ribs longer and it shows in his weights. One of my top replacements is a black baldy tamarack daughter, and her length proves this is a dominant Tamarack trait. High Country also has that added black pigmentation in his googles, front hooves, ears and tail just makes me giddy as a breeder who loves to breed fullbloods to blacks and reds. This cow hasn’t missed; raising a weaning weight champion herd bull for Jo Walker and two black baldy bulls for Terry Dayholos. The value of a herdbull is often determined by his daughters and nothing is truer for Hugo, his daughters are workhorses that promote great color, performance, and that prized masculinity in addition to the polled gene. High Country is top of the line styling and genetics you could build some serious females around.

A big crested, smooth polled Graphite son. His Mother is a proven producer; who raised a high-selling son to KSL Simmentals, and she is a full sister to the mother of Treasure Island. As we continue to develop our herd, it is the cows that successfully raise these types of uber masculine bulls that are the most valuable. In addition to the power of the Baron female; Graphite progeny have been extremely marketable with their moderate birthweights and breeding versatility. We sold a polled Graphite son last year to Mike Didych, and high-selling female to David Grey last fall. These Graphite progeny are widely accepted and highly functional and make for easy buying and breeding decisions. page 5

I love my Nighthawk progeny. They calved easily, and while you have to wait until they are about 5 months old, the jet fuel hits and it’s an explosive growth pattern from then on. 10G possesses a strong stack of calving ease genetics; offers a bit cleaner front, and a smidge more style than his brother, AJB 6G. His grandmother is one of the top Red Rock females here; raising two high-selling herdbulls. One for Jason Teeple in 2017, and our high-selling bull for 2019 to Luv-N-it Cattle Company. This cow family is extremely high-volume, consistently dark red, and good haired. Off a powerful first calf heifer who follows in her mother’s footsteps, Black Stealth is stacked with calving ease and maternal power.

M*A*S*H is just a touch thicker than his brother and offers a bit more rugged charm. Easily the biggest set of testicles in the pen since summer, the level of fertility in this bloodline is evident. He comes from a great cow family that you will see throughout the catalogue, going back to the 16Z fullblood cow, the mother of Lot 4. Layering the Red rock with the Nighthawk is like doubling down on awesome with the depth of rib, and soft-sided appeal. I had his mother on track to go to shades, but couldn’t bring myself to sell her. She has the makings of a herd matriarch with her lineage, extra dark red color and just visually stunning phenotype.

These whiplash sons are some very cool and unique genetics. This son possesses the smooth styling and balanced appeal of a high-calving ease bull. Flat boned, small headed and finer featured without compromising volume showcases the traits of his mother’s family. His mother did an amazing job her first time out and is from a long line of high milking cows that have amazing longevity; going back in his pedigree all the way to the T cow who is still in production. His sire is a bull I created for calving ease without sacrificing maternal calving ease and performance. Blending the facets of black, red, and fleckvieh genetics to offer some outcross genetics that are grounded for real world acceptability.

The youngest of the Whiplash sons, this red baldy calving ease prospect is a real gem. Whippersnapper is so mellow and soft made, he has a great balance of length and thickness. He is a touch smaller framed than the pen average; his mother ended up being the bonanza buffet of her pen last year, so this guy reflects her giving nature, although he has now almost caught back up to his ½ siblings. Layering multiple proven heifer calving ease bulls in one pedigree here; Big Sky, Red Rock, Laredo, 155S…this is a stacked fun house of Calving ease and Maternal superpowers. His maternal lineage is one of our more famous lines: His Grandmother being Ruby, this bull carries a lot of her identifiable traits; the gut, the length, the easygoing swagger. AJB 65G /19 B 28 E F

Here is another AJB towering pancake stack of calving ease!! Goldmine is another generationally proven calving ease bull off of one of my favourite cows, a dark red blaze faced Laredo daughter off one of my highest volume Red Rock females. I kept her son last year, and used him in my own herd on heifers with great success. When I ai, I try to pattern these bulls to offer outstanding calving ease, growth, maternal power and longevity. I find comfort in things that are proven; this bull is a stack of proven bloodlines that have worked on heifers for more than a decade. This bull will also have the added value of giving his offspring an amazing hair coat; both sides of his pedigree have exceptional hair.

Looking for something a little outside the fray?? Something completely unique and special?? Mercury Rising is one of kind; His mother is one of my top Red Rock females that has great dark red hair year-round: She is the kind of cow that looks amazing at any angle. She has raised numerous females and one was a high-seller to WLB Livestock a couple years ago another is the mother of Lot 11. The sire is a bull I played with a bit and was intrigued by the power of the old pedigree. If you are looking for something with a little more jam…this is your guy. A little bigger bw, but still calved hands free; Mercury Rising is big bodied, great haired, so soft made and gentle. page 11
Here is a red baldy, half fleck prospect. A little younger, he offers some powerful genetics with amazing cow power behind him. His mother had old school hip and top, and a pie plate sized foot; the kind of cow you can only put two of in the front of the trailer. This cow family has proven highly productive, dark red as you could possibly want, wooly haired and so easy keeping. Her first daughter raised a bull for Big Sky Simmentals, a daughter for Downhill Simmentals, and I kept her son last year to try and add more of her amazing traits in the herd. Sadly, I had to move his mother last fall due to an udder injury at pasture which reflects in his lighter weaning weight.

Crusader is real testament to the power of high quality milk; the youngest calf in the offering he hasn’t given up any frame or performance to his pen mates. His mother is a proven Red rock female that hasn’t missed a beat: her daughter was a gorgeous high seller to Glasman Farms, and her son was a highseller to Walter Brydon last year. Crusader’s grandmother is a proven cow you have seen highlighted in the catalogue: AJB 16Z. His sire, Rocko, is a bull I bought to layer onto the Red rock daughters and his first daughters are calving this year and they are exactly what I aimed for; easy-keeping, explosive-ribbed females with exquisite udders and haircoats made for Manitoba. Rocko progeny are unparrelled for vigour at birth; I don’t touch a Rocko calf…ever. The vigour and type is so appealing that I used two Rocko sons last year to double down on the strengths of this bloodline.

This wooly haired Big Sky son is a great cross-section of red genetics. A cow purchased from Shades a couple years back, her first born has impressed and she has really fit into the AJB program. Tommy Boy is a well-balanced bull that is soft sided and easy keeping; he is attractive, long spined, and an easy choice for someone looking to make some red females, as Big Sky made some of the best. Goes without saying for a bull to be born in 1992, and still be in the top 2% of the breed for calving ease and maternal calving ease gives a little street cred to some very old blood, so while you may not know or remember ER Big Sky; his mark is indelible.

About the Bulls... All bulls have been DNA sire verified and are on a full vaccination program that starts pre-birth with Express 5+somnugen in December, Inforce 3 at birth, Express 5+presponse, Fermicon 7+ Somnugen at 5 month old and again in the fall. They are ivomec’ed in june at turnout and again in the fall when they come into the pens, and we also gave injectable Bimectin this year in January and a dose of Cylence. Our bulls are developed slowly on a textured ration from Shur-gain, its what we have found to be most effective for us to balance growth, hair, movement and longevity and has been proven by our retained herd sires that have been developed on the same plan. All bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale with measurements posted on the online sale site.
