Meet the consignors
Steele Speckle Park Our family farm is located just outside of Thamesford, Ontario. We make effort to grow the majority of feed inputs and straw onfarm. We have always been involved in breeding cattle genetics. Since selling our Holstein herd it was a perfect fit to get into another established black and white breed. We are pleased by the overwhelming interest that this breed has created. Moving forward we like working with the Speckle Park breed and plan to share our genetics and are not afraid to sell our best! We have been involved in the Herd Builder Sale since inception in 2014. We believe there is still more room for new quality Speckle Park breeders in Ontario and look forward to meeting new breeders this October. Steele Speckle Park - Alex & Florence Steele.
Fleetwood Speckle Park Fleetwood Farms is a family owned and operated cash crop, cattle, and pig farm that has been operated by the McKillop family for many generations. Fleetwood Speckle Park, primarily a cow/calf operation with a small feedlot, is owned and operated by Dave McKillop & Cassie Taylor. Our focus is on conformational correctness in animals that can walk out of the show ring and into your operation, performing at the higher end of the spectrum. Our herd currently consists of approximately 35 commercial and purebred cows and heifers. We show Speckle Park cattle at Ontario fairs throughout the year, and we are excited to have returning 4Hers purchase steers and heifers from us to help promote the breed through-out Ontario show rings. We are proud to offer high quality animals and are eager to support and be a part of the Speckle Park breed here in Ontario. The decision truly is “black and white!”

Silver Tip Speckle Park
2
Silver Tip Speckle Park is a family run farm by Hugh & Paula MacNeil in St. George, Ontario. We run a feedlot with up to 1000 head of natural raised cattle for Meyers program and a few other prominent suppliers. We also run an 80 head cow herd of predominantly Speckle Park cows which are all bred to our purebred Speckle Park bulls. We have carcass weight up without jeopardizing grading and feed efficiency which the breed is known for. The breed is a premium for the home freezer beef trade as the sides are always consistently palatable with lower overall price to the consumer with smaller families that do not want a huge side for their freezer. With this breed growing in huge demand, we are proud to be part of its success and recognition in the Ontario market now and for years to come. “Black, white and Canadian” let’s put ourselves on the map!
Underhill SPECS Underhill SPECS aims to be a progressive operation and is owned by Jordon & Donna Underhill and two sons Hayden & Sterling. Running registered and commercial Speckle Park breeding stock in Alma, Ontario. In 2016, we calved 50 plus Speckle Park cows but our long term goal is to get smaller and better. Cattle heat detection and calving are all monitored via wireless cameras direct to our Smartphones, allowing us to work off farm to run our agricultural tradeshow company – ROI Event Management. We have invested heavily in walking bull power, with all our calves coming out of high quality registered Speckle Park bulls. Our goal is to breed for larger scale performance cattle, without sacrificing correctness. After this 5th Annual Herd Builder Sale, Underhill SPECS will have marketed approx. 69 females and 26 bulls (95 head) through the sales to some outstanding breeders that have shared great results with this breed. This could never have been achieved without our fellow consignors that represent quality stock backed with exceptional breeder reputation. We thank all previous Herd Builder bidders and buyers and look forward to connecting with new faces this October. Buy Canadian – Canadian Speckle Park!

HERBUILDER A word from CSPA Business Manager & Director Ontario Speckle Park Sale 4
2016 will be a banner year for Speckle Park in Ontario. This third fall Herd Builder Sale will again be a significant impetus to the further success of Speckle Park in Ontario. 2016 marks the Tenth Anniversary of Speckle Park being granted distinct breed status by Canada’s Minister of Agriculture. In the last ten years Speckle Park across Canada have experienced exponential growth. The rate of growth of Speckle Park in Ontario has also taken flight and actually exceeds that of the national herd. As of this summer compared to the same period last year Speckle Park registrations in Ontario have doubled and transfers of ownership have increased fourfold. In Ontario membership in the Canadian Speckle Park Association this year has already doubled last year’s total. And these members are all active breeders of Speckle Park. Commercial Speckle Park have experienced similar growth but unfortunately there is no way to determine accurate numbers. The Herd Builder Sales have provided Ontario cattlemen the opportunity to invest in Speckle Park. The consignors at this sale are offering the best of Speckle Park genetics from the west and from Ontario. And Ontario cattlemen are stepping up and investing their resources and expertise to their Speckle Park breeding programs for the betterment of the breed. The Canadian Speckle Park Association, its directors and I, as business manager, wish to support Speckle Park breeders in Ontario in their work to develop Speckle Park in as many ways as we can. To this end the Association’s directors have determined to hold the 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Speckle Park Association in Ontario. I am looking forward to personally meeting you at this year’s Herd Builder Sale. The potential for growth in your Ontario market is outstanding. And you are sitting on the edge of a relatively undeveloped market in Eastern Canada. The demand is there and you have the opportunity to fill it. All the best to consignors and buyers in this sale! Deep cow that milks like a Holstein. Over the past 3 years this cow has moved herself ahead from a summer calver to now ready to calve in February of 2017 to Codiak Big Mac. A fertile female!
HERBUILDER Ontario Speckle Park Sale
A favorite on pasture tours and you can see why. The kind you would love to have a herd of. She makes milk with good udder structure. Bred early to Codiak Big Mac for January 2017 calf. This cows 2014 daughter still holds the record for highest $ commercial heifer sold in a Herd Builder Sale.

This is one of our oldest daughters out of our original cow “Speckles”. We sold a daughter and full sister last year in the sale. We are offering FSP Sally in this sale as Fleetwood Speckle Park is making the swing to more registered Speckle Park cattle. She is fat, friendly, and consistently raises fantastic calves. She is bred to the good Kyak 6B bull.

This cow we purchased as a heifer from River Hill farms. The cow sells with her 2016 commercial heifer at side. 41A is a large framed cow that tends to put everything back into her calf, not an easy one to part with. She is currently bred with a 7W/Crikey embryo we purchased from Codiak Acres.
She was then exposed to Kyak 6B.

Dream big with this combination. The Scarlet 1S cow is undeniably one of the best made cows in the Speckle Park breed, even at age 10. Underhill SPECS was honoured to be able to have purchase this cow from River Hill Farm and thought it was only right to try the thick made River Hill Line Drive bull on her for purebred offspring. Sale day the cow will be in the ring as her embryo’s sell, so you can see your future in owning this package of prospects.
