Welcome to the Manitoba Magic Sale... Again!! This event was originally started in December of 2001 at the stockyards here in Brandon and it continued on for 7 years until 2007. It was always a highlight on the Mackenzie Sales Management sale services being on all AI event and featured the very best of the Manitoba Red Angus breeder’s programs.
Well... fast forward to 2024 and here we are again right back where it all began nearly a quarter of a century ago. We said in our opening line of our welcome letter ‘01, that “Manitoba is definitely ready for it’s own purely Red Angus Sale.” I do wholeheartedly agree with a younger version of myself back then, and that we are ready once again this year for a “Stand alone” Red Angus female sale in Brandon! Man oh Man do we ever have a set of Red Angus bred heifers, heifer calves and frozen genetics on offer. It’s always very interesting to me to drive away from someone’s yard after selecting their lots and wonder to myself how she’s going picture!! I have got to say how very pleased I was to see the first proof of the 8th Annual (or start over at the 1st) Manitoba Magic catalogue. This set of females are absolutely stunning! Hats off to all the consignors thus far... so now I can’t wait to see them again at the Keystone Centre the day before the sale and then especially on sale day, Friday evening, December 6th at 7:00 PM CST!! Just like on the first cover back in 2011 “The stars are in Brandon”
Now before Kevin, Jordan & Cam wonder about me not mentioning our “Feature Lot” yet. Let me tell you about a phenomenal bull calf in Lot 1! The Rage x Carlee bull calf is simply put maybe the best herd sire prospect I’ve seen in quite some time. Get your partners together and see who comes out on top sale day to own this absolutely life changing Red Angus bull calf. See him at Agribition, or at T Bar K in Wawota or at the sale itself.. but make no mistake about it - you have to see him!!
On a more personal note... back in May I lost a dear friend, auctioneer, teacher, sounding board, travelling partner, mentor and the man that I sat beside for over 30 years on the block. We worked together at nearly 500 sales serving the Red Angus breed. There is hardly a day that goes by without me thinking about him and our amazing career together. I do know and truly believe this though, Brent would have loved this set of cattle that I have assembled and put infront of him to do what he was so very good at, selling them.

Retribution is an impressive herd bull prospect. He is super stout, wide-based, soggy made individual and has a tremendous amount of muscle. He offers dimension and boldness through his fore-rib, and sets everything down on a solid foot. He shows that strong, masculine front and breed character through to his head. His pedigree is full of out-cross genetics. Retribution’s sire Rage is an impressive individual and sold to Arrowsmith Ranch for $70,000. Retribution will be his first son to sell in Canada. His dam Carlee 28J blew it out of the park with Retribution. Carlee is a phenomenal young female super stout, moderate made, and big barreled. You will appreciate her udder design and super solid foot. Carlee has entered both ours and Camo Cattle Company ET donor programs. She was purchased from Allison Farms out of Red Round Up for $15,000 where she was champion female. We sold her the next year in Red Round Up to Camo Cattle Company for $26,000. She adds muscle, power and dimension to her progeny, a herd bull producing kind of female, selling full possession and 1/3 semen interest, T Bar K Ranch and Camo Cattle Company each retain a third semen interest. Retribution is worth the trip to Brandon on December 6th.

This heifer comes to you from a double solid pedigree. On the top side, the walking herd sire is a Six Mile John Wick 882E son who is a bull that has made himself well known in the Red Angus breed. He puts power and body into his females which can be seen in this big sided girl. The dam of this heifer has been a herd-builder for us. As a 9-year-old cow she walks the pasture with ease, has raised some knockout calves and has a condition that says she’s got a few more years left in her yet! Here’s a sweet little heifer. This girl has caught my eye from day 1. She should have been trailed around this past summer as a show heifer because she has all the right boxes ticked to do well in the ring. This hairy, hippy heifer will likely mature out on the smaller side as both her dam and paternal granddam are petite-framed cows. The black dam on this heifer is out of a female we picked up at the Airey’s dispersal sale and has done a wicked job on her first three calves. The sire is a bull we raised and goes back to the U2 Reckoning bull and a Knockout female from Rock Point (pictured). This dark featured female has a lot of style, all-round swagger –check her out in the barns on sale day!

We are excited to be in this new Manitoba Magic with some unique new genetics. Lincoln 106H was the High Selling bull in our 2021 Bull Sale to Six Mile Ranch and Mc Quantock. Lincoln is gaining more respect every year that his progeny excels. One of his real assets are his daughters, they are mouth watering. Good milking udders, very feminine and easy keeping females.
Favorite was purchased in the Spring Creek Dispersal, and we flushed her to Lincoln and, Wow a set of calves. Her son will be one to watch for in the 2025 Bull Sale and the show string has two of the daughters.

Every year you get that cocky calf that just knows that they are special. Well here is our 2024 edition, Rosa had an early strut and presence that always caught my eye. Deep bodied, beautiful headed, added mass, baby brood cow, she is my kind!! Just a March calf that is sired by our most exciting herd sire addition. Seneca 18K was selected from Eyehill Stock Farm based upon the maternal power behind him. Big pear shaped mama cow with a near flawless udder under her. The 314A cow is a consistent producer with progeny proving themselves within other breeding programs. Seneca 18K is a big footed bull with a cherry red hair coat and dark foot, he is adding bone, substance and length of body to his calves. We used him heavy this year and are expecting well over 60 calves in 2025 sired by him. The Birdie family came to Kenray from the SooLine dispersal sale and have been well accepted by other breeders across North America. This heifer will be presented in a bit greener fashion as we didn’t get her weaned as early as planned. Our poor planning just may play into your favor on sale day!!

Here is the very first consignment from BRAND new Red Angus breeder Karli Kattle Co. Karli a very ambitious and hard working young lady that is in her 2nd year of a 4 year program in Saskatoon.
She got started in this purebred cattle world when helping Phil Birnie out with his Dispersal sale 2 years ago.
She then purchased 20 females and a herd bull out of that sale and became a member of this great breed!
Karli and her parents Murray and Karen then stepped out in a major way this winter and bought a significant amount of cows from a breeder in Southern AB. This beautiful red heifer calf from the purple bull South Point 3K was in that group and has been selected to represent her herd today.
Marta 10M is from a 2 yr old female and weighed 716 lbs in late September. The granddam 087 was a $14,000 bred heifer in the carousels at RRU in and was carrying Marta 7K inside her. Pretty impressive for all 2 year old cows so just imagine what you will be getting here in this outcross beauty!! She is a very attractive kind of a female that has amazing hair and balance to her.

One of the firsts on offer this year! A first daughter our of our Copenhagen 9K bull that we selected from Red Roundup from Brylor! The calves by him are fantastic! His semen commanded a good dollar last fall when on offer on both sides of the 49th! Pretty cool for a son of 49D who is a daughter of 49W! Reba 49W started out in Manitoba from Mar Mac and has offspring all over the continent. 3Y started out as a feature in the Masterpiece, he was held pretty exclusive for many years until his daughters really lit up the scoreboard at the U2 dispersal! We are very high on these calves. This one is again out of the Madonna family and Resource. 3Y has another daughter on offer today as well as service and semen!

Here is another Assasin daughter that is well put together and hurts to take to town. She catches your eye everytime you see her. She flows from her hip right through her smooth shoulders into a beautiful skull. Her dam is the Boss daughter we purchased from Howes. We purchased a group of cows out of the MAVV dispersal and the fruit of the loins is shining here. Picture day wasn’t 406M’s best look as she had the MB AG EX flu. 406M has a lot of good in her, deep, thick and long with good temperament she will make a great cow with her power packed pedigree. 410M has been a favorite from day one, deep, dark cherry red, with a great hair coat. These Ambush calves seem to rise to the top and it shows in this sale offering. If you have ever toured the WRAZ herd the cow family that Phil raved about was Serebl and you can see why. We couldn’t decide which one to offer so we will let you choose when the hammer drops.

Syringa 17G came to us from Eye Hill Red Angus through the Touch of Class sale a few years ago. She raised a daughter we retained and another that sold in the Touch of Class last year. Poker Face was an outcross (purple) bull we raised a few years ago that we offered through Red Roundup. His genetics were sampled all over Canada by some great operations. We went back and bred some cows to him as we feel his daughters are some of the best. In 2017 we thought we were safe with a purple bull when we showed him to Bryan. He wouldn’t take no for an answer that fall. In 2024 Bryan came selecting again and we thought we might be safe on offering these “purple” genetics, But Bryan got his pick again. These females are all from the top of our program!

Wow what a female. There is so much good about this heifer. She is deep flanked, big hipped with a huge top all leading into a smooth front end. Her pedigree is one of a kind being one of if not the first red carrier to sell with Deer Valley Growth Fund showing up as the Dam’s sire. We have really liked the Growth Fund progeny we have seen at various shows and sales. Her sire has been impressing us more everyday with his first calf crop he gave us. He is sired by Red Wheel Judge that has done an impressive job at B-Elle Red Angus and his dam is their Utopia Donor cow.

We haven’t offered up many members of the Maria cow family over the years! They have all been pretty good! A couple have made the trek to Red Roundup and another was a top bred heifer at the Keystone a few years back. Sons have sold from this cow family to JAS and Batho Farms. Maria 22X was a great purchase out of the Keystone sale from Emmatt Creek! It just shows that the heifers purchased out of the Manitoba sales go out and work for their new buyers! Maria 377L is out of a first-time mom and she hit it out of the park! She raised a red son by South Point 3K son that is at the top of our pen this year. Our Red Boss daughters all have fantastic udders with adequate milk production, the type that should last for years. You will have to look at a lot of sale books this fall to find a red heifer with this many maternal pedigrees all jammed on one piece of paper. Red Boss combines the highly recognizable Range Boss from Merit with the Freyja line from Cinder. The Siera cow family originated from the Buck Valley herd we purchased. They were some of the top females and they have never let us down. Karli Kattle Co. is consigning a pair of September born beauties for this new sale. 79L is a real standout with a superb pedigree behind her. Her dam was from famous Geis Angus cow (955W). 79G’s sire is the ‘never gets old’ herd bull called Mulberry 26P. Lady Lyn 79G already raised a herd bull for 11,500 and now has this awesome red heifer calf. The sire of 79L was an $18,000 high seller in the 53rd Annual Brylor Bull Sale to Mavv Farms in Okotoks, AB There was a lot of really cool calves sired by this Ambush bred bull in the MAVV Dispersal including one at side of her dam that was the high sellers that day to Kenray at $13,500.
