to the 2nd annual McIntosh Ranch Bull and Female Sale! What a time to be in the cattle industry! Record setting calf prices last fall and into the spring is bringing lots of optimism to the beef industry today. With the cow numbers in North America being at the lowest since 1960, I feel it is safe to say that these calf prices are here for a while as supply is low.

The Interlake area saw an extreme spring in 2022, however, it was the total opposite from 2021. Extreme snow fall in the winter with the spring rain accumulation resulted in delayed planting but an abundance of grass and hay! Our yearling stocker cattle got to graze a full season unlike 2021 and our beef cows and calves grazed until Nov 12th!

Our offering this year consists of 7 Black Angus bulls, 5 Simmental, and 1 Hybrid bull. Whether you’re looking for a sleep at night heifer bull or a bull to cover a group of mature cows we have you covered! New to this year’s sale is the addition of 3 Registered McIntosh Ranch Simmental heifers to accompany the pens of commercial heifers brought by our valued bull customers.

Once again I want to extend a big thank you to Ray and Barb for helping get the bulls clipped and pictured, its safe to say the sale wouldn’t be at these final stages without their help!

We are pleased to welcome you all to the 2nd Annual McIntosh Ranch & Guests Bull and Replacement Female Sale. The McIntosh family have diligently been working away at assembling a herd of Simmental and Angus cows fit for today’s commercial industry. Kolton’s close connection to all faucets of the beef industry give him the benefit of seeing first hand the type and kind that bring a premium at the auction barn and has taken this knowledge home to their cowherd to assemble a herd of easy fleshing, long spined, big volumed, high producing cows that can produce the type to put extra dollars in your pockets. The bulls exemplify just that as they are born easy with tonnes of vigour and grow rapidly while staying sound and functional. They are sired by industry leading ai sires, powerful walking bulls and are backed by great cows, many being donor females. These bulls are developed responsibly with longevity in mind and are built to go out, work and last. The papered replacement females are right off the top of the pen and are backed by prominent cow families within the herd. This is a great opportunity to step into some cornerstone females to build around. The commercial pens are offered by customers of the McIntosh Ranch and these fancy girls are extremely exciting.

HERD HEALTH:

Our cow herd health program is Pfizer Gold FP5. All bulls received Once PMH & Inforce 3 at birth with double shots of Bovi shield gold one shot and Ultrabac 7/ Somubac.

DELIVERY:

We will do our best to door step deliver each bull, however we can only guarantee delivery to central points in MB, SK, AB, and SW Ont. We will coordinate trucking where/when it is needed and make sure your purchases arrive in a safe and timely matter.

WINTERING BULLS:

Free of Charge until May 15th, $2.50/day after May 15th, unless prior arrangements to sale day are made with Kolton.

All bulls staying at the ranch after sale day MUST BE INSURED.

US CUSTOMERS:

we strongly recommend our USA neighbors to take a look at our offering and take advantage of the dollar. please be in touch with Kolton to discuss delivery into the USA as we will do our best to accommodate you.

We stand behind our bulls 110% any bulls sold DD will be sold in confidence of a future passing semen test. We will guarantee the bulls. In the case of a bull not passing we will provide you with a back up bull.

Three full brothers this year in the sale, and all 3 cut from the same cloth; peas in a pod. 224K is a bull with an abundance of hip, clean fronted, and gets out and moves like a herd bull should. This bull will sire heavy weight steers and his daughters in the replacement heifer pen will be out of this world.

It’s hard to write footnotes on full brothers without repeating yourself when they are stamped so similar. 220k is built like his full brothers and looks almost identical to his full brother that sold in last year’s sale to Tabytha Laroque.

203K is a real sale feature! He entered into the world at a 68lb and never looked back, being one of the heaviest weaning bulls in the fall. A real outcross for most operations, this black baldy bull is sired by an up and coming bull, MR SR Highlife, whom I feel will be a bull that makes a huge influence in the Simmental breed. The Highlife calves are consistently made and grow like bad weeds. His mother is a first calf Upgrade female that is out of our Twin Brae Cow who is a no miss cow. 203K was the only bull calf we had off highlife but his sisters in our replacement pen are all standouts. 203K is a meat and potatoes kind of bull with lots of muscle and top, yet smooth shouldered with a nice head. Definitely a bull that will work in the heifer pen or the cow pen!

Our first Hybrid bull and man he is a good one. 213K is the result of WS Steppingstone X Musgrave Stunner. 213K is an easy doing, long bodied bull that carries an extra frame score. Smooth shouldered and proud fronted with lots of hip and spine; I can’t wait to see the steers this bull will sire. If your business is raising heavy weights for the sales ring give 213K a circle as he checks all the boxes.

230K is the youngest bull in the offering and a bull that keeps changing every day. His dam is a full sib to Lot 1,2 & 3 in this year’s sale. She is angular made cow that everyone picks out. 230K is the first bull we have to offer off our walking herd sire, SVS Commander 17H. 230K is an eye catching bull and has been many people’s pick when walking through the bull pen. Don’t over look this young bull as he is sure to make you some heavy weights in the fall!

The most rewarding comment on a whole in our Angus pen is “you don’t see Angus bulls built like this everyday” and they’re right, you don’t! These DFCC Hector sons are all stamped so similar. Hector was in the pen of 3 champion bulls at Agribition as a calf. 246K is a bull that is long bodied with a big ol’ top on him. His mother is a beautiful uddered MAR Innovation daughter. if your looking for a bull that takes the Angus breed to a new level make sure you take the drive to check out 246K, you wont be disappointed.

This Hector son is stamped very similar to his brother 242K. This guy has been a favourite if ours right from pasture. 243K is a long bodied, big middled bull with a great set of feet and legs underneath him. Watch him move in his video, he has that herd bull look!

With an exceptional and abundant crop of heifer calves last year, we decided to offer heifers right from our replacement pen in this years sale. 225K is from our Lucy cow family and anyone who knows our operation needs no introduction to how successful LRX 91A (Lucy) was in our outfit. 91A placed many herd bulls into elite programs throughout Canada. 225K is a typical Lucy influenced female- feminine in her make up, yet big barrelled with lots of power! Sired by our walking herd bull Commander who continues to impress us with his offspring. 225K is definitely one a Jr could hang a halter on to have some fun with in the summer, or send her out to pasture and let her raise bull calves!

She is sired by LFE Stratton who has taken the breed by storm! 212K’s dam was purchased from Dana and Megan Johns in 2020. 83G was my pick of their offering that year. Going back to their Wheatland herdsire on the top side, 83G is a very fertile cow catching A.I and moving up a few weeks every year. Give 212K a check, you won’t be disappointed.

Timed Auctions Made Easy

How to Bid

1. Click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.
