WELCOME Welcome to our first annual service catalogue, which we hope you will find helpful to make your cropping and planning decisions for the coming year. D&P Rooke Farms is a mixed cattle and grain farm and custom agricultural service business located at Alexander, Manitoba. Our family-based operation consists of Daniel and Penny with the next generation of George and Alice. Tired of running a large scale contracting business and livestock enterprise on the urban fringes of London, England; we decided our business model and passions would suit the ideal of the Canadian prairies. With no other operations offering full-line custom services to the grain and livestock farms of the area and the desire to pursue a dream we decided to roll the dice and land in Alexander, Manitoba. Seven years later we are truly humbled and extremely proud to have built a foundation business consisting of a diverse combination of cattle, grain and custom services with quality in mind at every turn. Our main goal was to build an enterprise that serves our four family members’ interests and provide timely, professional services to farms large or small. Knowing roughly what we wanted (and are still working) to achieve, we set out along an unknown path that has been filled with hard work, passion, fantastic people and many new friends and customers that we are forever grateful to. SEEDING/PLANTING 2020 saw the expansion of both our seeding and planting capacity with the addition of a second 40 ft, 15/30� 1795 John Deere Planter and a 1890 7.5� spaced John Deere disc drill with a 3 compartmented tow-between tank. These new implements combined with our 32 row 1530 Case planter, 40ft Morris hoe-drills, and close spaced, twin tank 1590 disc drill allow us to plant a variety of crops with the best method in mind. - Found the 1890 seeder perfect for drilling mixed oat/pea green feed mixes. - Overall crop establishment of the disc drill compared to the hoe-drill has been phenomenal

PROS OF PRECISION PLANTING: Precision planting soybeans reduces the amount of seed between 10 and 20 percent compared to conventional seeding methods In our experience precision planting beans helps with higher podding which reduces header losses during harvest During drier years evenly spaced plants don’t compete so much for moisture
VERTICAL TILLAGE AND CULTIVATION Our groundwork services encompass tillage, cultivation, rolling and harrowing. Tillage and cultivation services include a 20ft high-speed Pottinger Terra disc, and 30ft Khun true vertical disc. The vertical Kuhn machine is great for sizing residue, removing compaction and leaving level seedbeds ready for cropping. The Terra disc is ideal for more substantial tillage work having serrated discs and rolling baskets to provide soil maximization. Field preparation abilities continue with our 36ft ag shield rolls with leveling boards that are perfect for pasture maintenance and a post-seeding pass to increase efficiency and enhance seed to soil contact. 50ft set of Degelman heavy harrows are perfect for post and pre harvest ground maintenance. WHY SHOULD I ROLL MY FORAGE AND HAY CROPS? - Reduced later machine damage and wearability - Maximize crop tonnage by gaining the ability to cut lower to the ground - Increase seed to soil contact and germination - Makes for a quicker forage harvest when able to go quicker.

FERTILIZING CUSTOM APPLICATORS FOR COOP AND RICHARDSON PIONEER Our pair of sulky spin spreaders equipped with variable rate and sectional control technology allow us to accurately apply various fertilizer blends in a timely fashion. Having a 12 ton trailed and 4 ton mounted machines allows us to work even in the trickiest conditions, accompanied by our Greenstar GPS systems we can assure a very accurate application.

MUCK SPREADING Our muckspreaders offer exceptional spread accuracy. They are designed to spread anything from semi-solids, up to farm yard manure, compost or dry shed cleanings. GPS guidance ensures accurate rate and placement. Loading options with either a hoe or telehandler are available depending on the task and job site. 2021 will see the addition of a large 16T Ktwo spreader to our operation. Among running this new range of spreader in our own fleet we will also be importing and selling the product - see the Ktwo spread for spec details.

MOWING AND SWATHING To keep in front of our chopping and baling crews we have the option of our 30ft John Deere swather, 30ft triple mower or 15ft MoCo discbine. With the ability of double swathing to 60ft and combination Krone mower we can tackle a variety of jobs. We also offer raking service with our twin rotor rake.

BALING Baling has been an integral part to the growth of Rooke Farms over the years. Cost effective, top quality and timing are the three main focuses of our baled forage production. Our baler wrapper combination machines allow us to cover a large area and be in multiple places at once! The bales are covered in 6 layers of high quality wrap ensuring a good seal thus protecting the bales while in transit and storage. The balers are set for high density pressure with 25 fitted knifes to increase bale content which reduces long-run cost.

We also offer the ability to produce round 5x6 netwrapped bales and large square 3x3 hay or straw bales, fitted with an additive applicator for preservation improvement.

FORAGE HARVESTING Our 970 Claas forager is equipped with the latest Greenstar autotrac, autofill control, additive applicator and Harvestlab reporting system. This NIR sensing system provides moisture, DM and tonnage per acre. Also we run a specialist shredlage cracker which shreds the corn stalks 50% harder, exposing more surface area allowing for better digestibility. Fitted with our 12-row corn header or 380 pro pickup head we are ready to tackle any job. We have invested in equipping our high speed tractor and trailer fleet with large flotation tires to prevent soil compaction and minimize crop damage. Packing with a front pushoff buck rake on a John Deere 7290r fitted with extra weights helps maximize packing and minimize waste. Our friendly and experienced crew can also assist in covering the pile with supplied tarp.

COMBINING With a range of headers and pair of CX New Holland conventional combines we can tackle a range of crops from cereals to beans or corn with an optional grain cart and trucking crew if required.

As of 2020 we have partnered with the UK brand, Ktwo, and Canadian importer to serve Manitoba and the western prairies with specially designed silage trailers and manure spreaders. We have an extensive history with Ktwo reaching back to our early farming and contracting days in England and are more than pleased to have added the Ktwo 2800 trailer to the fleet this corn season. This wide bodied trailer proved itself this past fall to be a high volume, stable and low horse power required trailer ticking all the boxes for the Canadian market. We firmly believe the Ktwo range of trailers is the best on the market today and look forward to promoting the brand. Along with the Rodeo curve silage trailers there is a full range of dump trailers for gravel, manure and soil as well as new for 2021 the Ktwo Evo range of manure spreaders. The Evo spreaders are now one of the leading brands across the UK and Ireland and have had many years of running them ourselves. We are excited to see our 16 ton demonstrator arrive for the spring of 2021. PG. 12

FULL LINE CUSTOM FARMING Aside from the individual services offered, Rooke Farms also has a unique complete Custom Farming service available. If you are considering a change in farming policy, or looking to take a step back from your farming operation, custom farming agreements are a great way to ensure the highest standards of land care whilst maintaining your personal farmer status. Agreements, whilst following a basic structure are unique to the situation and have the number one goal of ensuring maximal benefits for both land owner and contractor.

2021 BULL CROP is offered for sale privately through the yard with 5 genetic sire groups to choose from. These include a range of birthweight bulls with calving ease at the forefront and weaning weight close behind. CATTLE Productivity, system maximization and performance are key components of every part of our cattle operation from when those calves hit the ground until the day they are hung on the rail. Our system comprises of 300 spring calving cows of which 80 are purebred Red Angus and the remaining run as commercial Simmental X Angus. Our production of high quality forage crops is put to use in our backgrounding, finishing and bull development program. Our purebred herd is made up of productive, highly maternal and easy doing females that we maintain as a docile and well handled herd. We have been working to introduce genetics into the herd that we believe make the working bulls needed to fuel the beef industry. PROVEN IN PROGRAM Our commercial program aids to demonstrate our genetics as we use our own bull power to produce calves that end up on the shelves of local butcher shop - Henry’s Meats.
