SMOKED BRISKET LUNCH AND REFRESHMENTS PRIOR TO THE SALE! PA G E 2

WE WELCOME YOU TO THE 6TH ANNUAL ELITE GENETICS BULL SALE! There’s good reason to be optimistic in 2020, stronger demand for cattle coupled with a shorter supply should insure premiums in the fall, and after last year, we all deserve a little more! The most uncontrollable factor is weather, good or bad, dry or wet, it impacts the entire management system and operation. Lack of quality feed and water, hard living conditions for animals and overall increased costs mess with the bottom line. But why the discussion you ask? Well we cannot control the weather, no matter how much tax we are told to pay, lol. Our region experiences highly variable temperatures with strong winds that result in extremely cold winters and hot summers. While the conditions can sometimes have devastating outcomes, I believe there is an underlying positive effect on our herds, in that it weans out the weak and unproductive cows, the ones that need to do it with more, the inefficient ones; and brings out the tough ones out in the herd, the ones that do it with less and produce more. Manitoba and the prairies are a prime example of this fact. One thing we can control is how we make breeding and management decisions in order to insure that we are getting the best production out of our herds, and that starts with the right bull. According to research information, the use of one sire line over another can make a difference of $100 to $150 in return per animal on feed. In many commercial beef herds, replacement females are selected from the herd’s annual calf crop. Bulls, to which those females will be bred, are purchased from outside seed stock growers. If you take the average calf from within a herd and look at it genetically, the sire provides half the genetics and the dam the other half. This means that the dam’s father provides 25 percent of that calf’s genetic material, and the dam’s grandfather provides another 12.5 percent. Simple mathematics illustrates that 87.5 percent of that calf’s total genetic makeup comes from three bulls that have been selected by the beef producer to work in the herd. Those three bulls have a huge effect on how that calf will perform while on its mother, in the feedlot, hanging on the rail, and eventually, in the hands of the consumer. It becomes clear that sire selection is the main tool available to a rancher to continually improve the genetic performance of a herd. Knowing these two facts have a major impact on the bottom line, the Elite Genetics Sale group prides itself on being progressive operations and breeders. We have made management and breeding selection decisions that are proving to increase productivity, quality, consistency, and profit in our product that will pass onto you, in your product. The depth and quality of this year’s offering is second to none, and this year’s sale offers a diverse group of breeding tools. Hereford and Charolais genetics make up this year’s sale, two breeds that complement any cross breeding program! We are excited to have George Webster III of Winchester Polled Herefords and the Fossay Family of Fossay Herefords with us again and adding to this year’s outstanding line up, McCaw Livestock again have also brought some exceptional Charolais bulls. With over 30 yearlings presented in this group of bulls, they offer up a great set of breeding tools for the commercial or purebred breeders. Whether you need to add performance and carcass to your backgrounding and feeder operations or, add maternal power to develop replacements, this group of bulls will do it. Our calving ease bulls are designed to maintain growth and performance as well, which will make calving time easier for you, but put money in your pocket come fall. Many Elite Genetics customers are repeat and multiple buyers. This tells us that it’s not just a bull business, but also a people business. Our customers are pleased with the product, but more importantly happy with an honest, reputable and knowledgeable service. The continued support from our customers is what is keeping us in a business that we love. Elite Genetics takes pride in this detail. As always, all the sale information will be online, including videos and pictures. Online bidding will also be available through Liveauctions.tv. Feel free to contact any Elite Genetics member for more assistance. Please join us for lunch and hospitalities on sale day! See you sale day, Andrew Kopeechuk

RSK FARMS

RSK Farms is a family-run mixed farm which began operation in 1984. The cow calf facilities are located approximately 7 miles east of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada along the Trans-Canada Highway. Bulls and females are developed 5 miles north of Douglas, MB at a second farm site. Sale and show cattle along with our donors are kept there as well. RSK Farms breeds approximately 160 females which consist of Purebred Polled Hereford and Commercial Cross cattle. The land base consists of roughly 3 ½ sections of both owned and rented land which is into annual crop, rotated perennial and annual pasture, for forage production and grain and hay sales. RSK Farms uses AI and ET breeding strategies to source some of the breed’s top genetics and in turn use our top producing females to create quality offspring that display improved consistency, performance maternal traits and carcass. Our herd are true beef cows, developed over generations of sound breeding, elite genetics and balanced traits. Our cow herd grazes as much as possible and are only brought into the yards for calving. Once in, they are feed a silage, hay, straw mixture. Replacement females are fed the same but supplemented with oats/pellet blend. All of the sale bulls have free choice hay and are fed the same oats/pellet mixture in a big area that provides plenty of exercise, which in turn promotes muscle development over fat. All RSK bulls are guaranteed to be free of DLF, HYF, IEF, MSUDF!

SPRING AND FALL VACCINATIONS CONSIST OF:

Pyramid 5 plus Presponse as an aid in the prevention of disease caused by IBR, BVD Types 1&2, PI3 and BRSV, and as an aid in reduction of severity of pneumonic pasteurellosis caused by Mannheimia haemolytica. Covexin 8 Plus to protect against diseases caused by Cl. chauvoei (black leg), Cl. haemolyticum (bacillary hemoglobinuria), Cl. novyi Type B (black disease or infectious necrotic hepatitis), Cl. perfringens Type B (lamb dysentery), Type C (hemorrhagic enterotoxemia), Type D (pulpy kidney), Cl. septicum (malignant edema) and Cl. tetani (tetanus). Pour on Ivermectin products are administered as well. Also Maxi Guard is given in the spring, before heading to pasture that controls Moraxella bovis bacterin for the prevention and control of pinkeye. At the time of fall booster shots, Quiet Weans (yellow nose clips) are inserted into the calves noses to prevent nursing and are left in for 5 days. This proves to be very effective for a low stress weaning solution. Strict emphasis is put on structural soundness, testicular development, do ability, performance, functionality and disposition! Genetics from RSK Farms have been consigned to many sales over the past years and can be found throughout North America and the Globe. RSK Farms has had great success over the years showing and exhibiting cattle across the country. Showing cattle gives us another tool to gauge and evaluate how our herd is performing, and along with customer successes, we take pride in our track record.

TESTIMONIAL

When we started our purebred operation, we were needing sound, functional and sleep easy cattle that can have a calf on their own and raise it while staying strong walking on our pastures in the Pipestone valley. Since we started, we have bought multiple females and bulls from RSK and these animals do just what we are looking for. The bulls are very fertile and sound footed with good maternal characteristics for producing some nice replacements, and also high performance with their calves. The females calve easy and are great mothers that hold their condition well, while raising up a big solid calf come fall time. We plan on starting touse their Hereford bulls in our commercial Angus herd this year as well, as we have tried them on a few cows and you can’t beat the calf they produce. The main thing that makes this sale an easy decision is the service that comes from the crew before, during and after you make your purchase; outstanding and never hesitate to help you and answer any questions you may have. Looking forward to doing more business with them.

TESTIMONIAL

We have used RSK heifer and herd bulls and both have worked out very well. RSK bulls will add size, structure and good temperament to your herd. A very good cross with our Angus or Simmental based cows. We plan on adding more RSK bulls to our herd in the future.

DANE MISTELBACHER, LORRETTE, MB

TESTIMONIAL

We have made multiple RSK purchases throughout the years and are very pleased in the value, performance and overall do-ability in the cattle. Our first group of stockers sired by RSK 199B Jannali 11E, the EG high-seller in 2017, were highly sought after at Ontario Stockyards this past season. We had multiple parties inquiring about the calves, commenting how impressed they were of straight Hereford’s in a market that typically leans towards more exotic bred cattle. Our payday was well above expected, but comments like that, ensure that we’re making the right genetic decisions in creating quality calves with high marketability. RSK’s commitment to superior cattle, great service and strong communication has made returning as customers, a very easy decision for us.

TESTIMONIAL

We have been buying Hereford bulls from RSK for a few years now, to use on our Black Angus Cows. The quality Hereford genetics they provided has improved our cow herd; adding bone, depth and capacity without adding frame size. The replacements have performed consistently well and we look forward to having them in our herd for a long time. The steers have proved very feed efficient, backgrounding well on low quality forage, and always selling at the top of the market.

I remember the first time I saw a picture of Truman on Facebook, highlighting him in the Jensen carload and thought to myself, wow what a calf, we need to use this guy. We were fortunate enough to acquire Truman with Harvie Ranching that year in the Mile High Sale for $25000 US. What a great decision that was. Truman is stout and full of shape and muscle, he is short marked and cherry red, and to top it all off he is homo-polled and comes with a great set of numbers. For the past 3 years he has been a go to that has complemented our operation very well. His first daughters are coming into production and we could not be more please with the overall quality of his females. His bull calves type very closely to his phenotype and push down the scales adding pounds in the fall! Truman was successfully shown being named the 2017 CWA Canadian National Res Junior Bull and 2018 AG Ex Champion Hereford Bull and top 3 supreme finalist at AG EX!

We saw All In in Denver in 2018 and were able to acquire him in the Hoffman Bull Sale for $40000 US with Harvie Ranching and Brost Land and Cattle. All In was a member of the Hoffman Ranches 2018 NWSS Champion Hereford Carload that year. All In is very correct in his make up and clean lined with one of the most attractive, balanced looks about him. He is homo-polled and a performance machine. Our second calf crop is hitting the ground this year and we are extremely pleased with the quality off his progeny. All In was successfully shown being named the 2018 CWA Canadian National Junior Bull Champion!

What can I say about this guy that you don’t already know! Digby is a direct son from one of the breeds most influential females, Firefly 51F! Digby is one of the most correct, fluid moving bulls in the breed. If you are needing to fix structure and movement, then he is the one! He has a presence and stature that can’t be copied. Long necked and long spinned, he will add pounds and performance to progeny all while maintaining appeal and its evident in his progeny. Digby was very successfully show in 2017 being named: CWA Canadian National Champion Bull and RBC top 10 Finalist, Herefordbreeder. net Champion of North America, AG EX Champion Hereford Bull, Manitoba Summer MOE Champion Bull and Harding Supreme Champion Bull! Digby was in stud a lot of his early days, and needless to say we should have AI’d him a lot heavier seeing the progeny he is leaving us. He walks now at RSK with many more great years to come. WINCHESTER POLLED HEREFORDS /FOSSAY HEREFORDS Winchester Cattle Company & Fossay Herefords have had an alliance since 2010. Between our 2 herds we breed approximately 170 purebred Herefords every spring. We are like minded in our affection for the Hereford breed and the clear advantages they bring to an efficient commercial and purebred cattle operation. It is a real honour being asked to participate in the RSK Bull Sale - March 29, 2020. The 5 yearlings we are bringing are from the top end of our cow herd. Cows that work, re-breed and are trouble free. If you have any questions please call Bryan @ 204-795-0961. We would be happy to answer any questions or show you our herd.

MCCAW LIVESTOCK Welcome everyone to this year’s edition of the Elite Genetics Bull Sale. I am once again proud to be a part of it with these families. They are people that strive to make their herd better, to make better cattle for you, every day. Just like myself, making more efficient, sounder made, longer lasting cattle that improve our herds. This has been a year of challenges, but it looks like there’s lots of optimism for our cattle markets going forward. Thank you to my girlfriend Shailyn for helping me with everyday jobs around the farm, your help doesn’t go unappreciated. Thanks for everything and I look forward to accomplishing more things with you. I’d like to thank past buyers for their support and I’m looking forward to making new customers. If anyone has any questions or would like to view the bulls, give me a call, text or email and we can make arrangements to work with you. Videos will be available to send at your request and they will also be online. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
