The preliminary data suggest robust domestic demand and sustained recovery in commercial activity. The most recent official data suggested a slight improvement in economic conditions. Throughout the month of June both mobility and economic indicators recorded a sustained recovery as daily new infections declined and some easing restrictions were started to be gradually applied. Indeed, the local authorities’cautious approach of restriction easing might have helped keep infection rates below April 2021 levels. The unemployment rate also eased to 9.2% in June from 11.9%in May. However, the tightened social distancing measures have a significant impact on private consumption. Moreover, consumer confidence dropped to 48.50 points in May from 53.10 in March 2021.

07798189485

The consumer price index stood at 6.3% y-o-y in June, unchanged from May 2021. Wholesale prices declined to 12.1% y-o-y in June 2021, from 12.9% in May 2021.India’s industrial production increased 29.3% y-o-y in May 2021. With regard to external demand, preliminary estimates showed that India’s trade deficit stood at $9.4 billion in June 2021. Exports increased to $32.5 billion, while imports increased to $41.9 billion. The preliminary data suggest robust domestic demand and sustained recovery in commercial activity. Recent COVID-19 developments suggest that the partial restrictions might last into 3Q21. Overall, despite the marginal improvement in economic conditions registered in June, the high level of cautiousness associated with the Delta variant of COVID-19 as well as the uncertainty surrounding its future development might slow the economic recovery. Additional hurdles to the recovery include the slow growth of credit as lenders become more risk-averse and hold back credit when the economy needs it the most. This could lead the RBI to maintain its stimulus efforts in order to support credit recovery and encourage lending. The growth forecast for India’s economy remains at 9.5% for 2021, while the economy is expected to grow by 6.8% in 2022. The major downside risks to this forecast remain the potential resurgence of COVID-19 and the pace of the vaccination process.

ITMA ASIA + CITME REVIEW REPORT Lindauer DORNIER presents new solutions for the production of filter fabrics and fiber composites Sustainable filtering, environmentally friendly transport – Lindauer DORNIER presents new solutions for the production of filter fabrics and fiber composites at ITMA Asia

The world’s largest filter manufacturers weave on DORNIER Despite the global cutbacks caused by the pandemic, demand for the P2 rose steadily, for example among technical weavers in the filtration sector. Traditionally, some of the world’s largest filter manufacturers rely on rapier and airjet weaving machines from DORNIER. One of them is Jingjin Environmental Protection Inc., China’s largest filter manufacturer, who, among other things, produces water filters on these machines. Recently, Jingjin has also started weaving on the P2, whose productivity has been further increased compared to its predecessor, the P1, thanks to improved shed geometry, frame rigidity and a maintenance-free drive.

T R I TO S ® ( Te x t i l e R o v i n g i n t o T h r e imensionally Oriented Structure) is used, among other things, to create 3D fabrics for aircraft parts. Here, customers benefit from the decades of experience DORNIER has gained in the development of machines and systems with customers from the aerospace industry. “The demands on material quality and performance of fiber composite components are extremely high in this field,” says Josef Klingele, head of the Composite Systems product line. With both new developments, DORNIER once again demonstrates its technological leadership. Sectors such as mobility, energy and mechanical engineering are under enormous pressure to meet the increasing demands for environmental protection and resource efficiency. “With PROTOS ® and TRITOS ® , we optimize the manufacturing processes of lightweight construction, today’s megatrend”, says Klingele. In addition to existing customers, customers from “non-fibre” industries, including metal or wood, are now also working together with DORNIER at the technical centers in Lindau and Esseratsweiler on tomorrow’s composite applications.

Yet Schöffl believes that the great interest in the P2 is also due to the fact that it is available in three versions: with a maximum reed impact of 2.3 t, 3.7 t and 5.0 t. “We cover the entire spectrum of fabric production from very fine to very coarse fabrics.” Because no matter whether water, air, blood or gases are to be filtered: The demand for high-quality filter fabrics is growing worldwide. Among other things, this is due to stricter environmental and sustainability requirements, which demand ever more comprehensive performance parameters. In order to continuously improve the tightness and quality of filter fabrics, we are further developing our machines in close cooperation Service 4.0: Digital solutions with added value with our customers, says Schöffl. TECHNOLOGY Power-Heat-Set GmbH – A global player in the textile and carpet industry focused on sustainability

The German company Power-Heat-Set GmbH supplies machines and components for carpet yarn treatment to the carpet industry all over the world with. PHS is established as a successful player in the global carpet and textile industry. The name Power-Heat-Set (PHS) stands for over fifty years of field expertise, innovation and service, a guarantee of high quality and efficient production in the field of yarn finishing. PHS’ machine portfolio currently offers two different machine types, namely GVA and HiPerSet – both of which are available in different sizes. The GVA series offers the best flexibility and high performance for heatsetting carpet yarn with up to 96 ends. The 6 channel configuration, optimised for heatsetting of small lots on different belts, allows the running of different colors of the same yarn or straight set and frieze simultaneously. The HiPerSet uses only one channel to heatset the yarn and up to 84 ends can be processed at the same time. Both the GVA and the HiPerSet use overheated steam under atmospheric pressure for heatsetting. With the removal of obstructions to airflow, a high volume of climate circulation within the machine is achieved with relatively high compression allowing yarn to be heated quickly and thoroughly to the required heatset temperature. This improved airflow allows shorter dwell times.

All of PHS’ equipment is manufactured by highly qualified technicians at its Germany-based headquarters in Töging. A team of technicians and technologists is available worldwide for installations and service. PHS’ Research Development department continuously works on optimizations to raise the machines to the next level and focuses on bringing improvements to the customer’s production process regarding quality, run ability, productivity, energy saving and handling. PHS also designs machines and technology so that “sustainable materials” can be produced. The yarn and carpet industry is striving to become “greener” through the introduction of products (yarns) with a high sustainability factor such as “recycled yarns” or yarns made from organic, renewable resources. This is a very important focus for PHS which is working successfully with some of its customers to establish the production of such yarns on PHS’ equipment. Goller Open Width Merceriser

Mercerising is a treatment that adds value to cellulosic fabrics. It is a process of treatment of cotton fabric with highly concentrated caustic soda, under tension. Mercerisation is possible for both woven as well as knitted cellulosic fabrics. Mercerisation improves the dyeability of such fabrics and imparts dimensional stability and tensile strength to these fabrics. The lustre which is obtained through mercerisation stays permanently with the fabric and additionally this treatment gives a cooling feel to the fabric, thus giving greater comfort to the end user. With the emphasis on comfortable clothing growing every year, mercerised knitted fabrics are in great demand for making garments for international high end fashion brands.

lot of effluent treatment issues due to the high chemical oxygen demand load per unit of fabric treated. This is where the development of the open width knit mercerisation process has helped considerably, as this process not only mitigates these issues faced by tubular mercerisation, but also improves the quality of fabric in terms of feel and comfort. It also has higher savings in dyeing related processing costs as compared to unmercerised cotton knits. Soon, we expect that open width knit mercerisation will be an integral part of the sequence of knitted fabric processing.

Emerging trend: Open width knit processing Indian knit processors have realised the immense benefits of switching over from tubular to open width processing for knit fabrics. Several processors in the country have already converted their knit process houses to open width bleaching, cold pad batch dyeing and washing.

Goller’s brief introduction Goller is a pioneer and a global market leader in the manufacturing of open width textile processing ranges, including those for knit mercerisation. Goller was founded in Germany in 1948 and became a member of the CHTC Fong’s Group in 2006. The integration of Goller into the CHTC Fong’s Group helped it to develop and spread at a tremendous rate its highly engineered textile wet finishing ranges for the textile industry.

The knit mercerisation uptrend has been prevalent since over 15 years. However, the growth in knit mercerisation was constrained as it so far was applicable only for tubular fabrics. Tubular mercerisation has its own limitations – it creates visible marks on the edges of fabric and it also causes a

The new Pre-Cleaner CL-X: Higher productivity and lower energy consumption Double the production rate, with lower energy consumption per kilogram of fiber material – that might sound like a contradiction, but the new Trützschler pre-cleaner CL-X makes it possible. It gently and reliably removes coarse contaminants like leaf debris, stalks or seeds from cotton with minimum loss of good fibers. The pre-cleaner CL-X provides more efficiency and lays the foundation for a high-quality end-product before the cotton is further processed in mixers and fine cleaners.

CL-X material flow

The new CL-X especially meets the urgent demand for lower energy consumption. Energy efficiency is not only important for environmental and regulatory reasons. Due to rising energy prices, it is becoming an increasingly decisive factor for the competitiveness of spinning mills. "During the development process, our main focus was on optimizing the fiber air flows. This is the area where we achieved the breakthrough. By forcing the air flow over two rolls, we have found a solution that allows lower power consumption at the opening rolls,” says Robert Többen, Head of Mechanical Engineering at Trützschler. “The fact that this flow is in the form of a spiral is also reflected in the name CL-X: The 'X' comes from the Greek word for spiral, Helix.”

The new Pre-Cleaner CL-X

In comparison with the current benchmark, the CL-X saves up to 30 % energy (see chart 1). In addition to the optimized flow, an integrated air separator contributes to reducing the transport air by ensuring that only excess air has to be removed, rather than all of the air. Less exhaust air means less energy consumption. The CL-X also provides significantly increased productivity. At a maximum of 1,600 kilograms per hour, the production rate from one CL-X corresponds to the rate achieved by two CL-P models. This gives customers the flexibility to operate at high or low productivity rates with one machine. On top of this, the new CL-X is characterized by its excellent
