*********************************************************************************** Background and Purpose The East Asia Academic Cooperation Council EACC of Thailand was launched in May 2007 to serve as Thailand’s national focal point for all track 2 or 1.5 forums, under the ASEAN+3 process ‐ such as the Network of East Asian Think Tanks (NEAT), the Network of East Asian Studies (NEAS), and the East Asia Forum (EAF) ‐ , ASEAN + 1 academic forums China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, and other fora related to East Asia. The purposes and roles of the EACC include the following: 1.
To coordinate with other academic forums and institutions under ASEAN + 3, ASEAN +1, and other
frameworks related to East Asia 2.
To undertake and participate in academic activities under the ASEAN + 3 and ASEAN +1, and other
frameworks related to East Asia 3.
To promote and disseminate academic activities under the above‐mentioned frameworks in Thailand
4.
To make appropriate recommendations to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand
