Page 1

The Textile Design syllabus is broadly divided into prints, wovens and surface techniques. In February 2012, the journey started out with Textile Design Development, an introductory module on stylizing objects, motifs, Background, and print layouts, repeats, types of repeats, art works, layouts and colourways. In November 2012, I came up with my ď€ rst collection with Print Design Project module. The colour forecast was adapted from the heim textil stories that was based upon social, economic, cultural, environmental, climatic conditions etc., A study on upcoming prints and theme was carried out, based on which a theme ad inspiration was chosen to make my collection coupled with a detailed design process. During a mandatory Internship period of 8 weeks, was my third encounter of developing prints for twelve luxury bed linen ensembles under Neeta Lulla for Portico Newyork. PRINTS

The Internship project aimed at understanding the young Indian market, the Bridal market and developing prints for the same. The prints were developed under a suitable theme using the rotary printing technique. Further, I had created a range of prints on apparels for Ms.Nishka Lulla’s showcase collection during the same tenure of Internship for the Lakme Fashion Week, Winter/Festive 2013.

In August 2011, I for the ď€ rst time felt the table top loom in the design studio and then, I felt a connection. I knew it just was the thing I would enjoy doing even if I lived forever. We started off in the same month of August with basic weaves learning Woven structures, followed by Advanced Woven structures and Woven design project. August 2013, We kicked off the Saree design project. There was parallel learning on Nedgraphics about various weaving techniques and it was an elaborate and quite an interesting learning experience about wovens. Surface techniques was taught through out the course and it proved to be a worthwhile It is interesting to make a piece of fabric 3 dimensional as textiles truly shouldn’t be limited to a 2 dimensonal strata. August 2011, we were ď€ rst introduced to embroidery and applique. February 2012, we were introduced to fabric manipulation and techniques pertaining to how the surface and appeal of a fabric can be improved. Thoroughly enjoyed!
