ADVERSITY BUILDS CHARACTER

Contents

In 2006 the Cadillac program was forced to run with the highest base weight and smallest engine restrictor of any GT car in Speed World Challenge, and we had to do this against very strongly supported factory teams from Dodge and Porsche. Despite running with one arm tied behind our backs consistent finishes throughout most of the season kept us in contention until the very end. We didn’t bring home the championship this year but in defiance of both the handicaps we were forced to run with, and the strength of the opposition, we never gave up trying. That speaks volumes about the winning spirit that drives everyone to succeed in the Pratt & Miller family.

Our customer programs continued to expand this year and thanks in large part to the integrity of the cars we design and build, and the trackside support we provide, they met with considerable success in both Europe and the United States. The GTO.Rs did particularly well in Grand-Am, winning eight races and sweeping the driver, team and manufacturer championships. C5-Rs and C6.Rs continue to race and win in Europe in LMS, FIA GT, and several national GT series.

Your work ethic, will to win, and focus on being the best at what you do are the factors that fuel this company’s success. We are both extremely proud of all that you have accomplished this year and look forward to working with you again in the coming season.

SEBRING: PODIUM FINISH FOR CADILLAC PILGRIM PUTS TEAM CADILLAC ON SEBRING PODIUM FOR 3rd STRAIGHT YEAR

SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE GT, RACE #1 Sebring International Raceway Sebring, Florida March 17, 2006 QUALIFYING: 5th, Andy Pilgrim, #1 XM/Mobil 1/Motorola/On Star Cadillac CTS-V, 2m09.943s (100.419 mph) 6th, Max Angelelli, #16 XM/Mobil 1/Motorola/On Star Cadillac CTS-V, 2m10.110s (102.375 mph)

Despite carrying ballast to throttle back its performance, the Pratt & Miller run Cadillac CTS-V team managed to finish second in the opening round at Sebring. It was Andy Pilgrim’s third consecutive runner-up finish at Sebring. Starting fifth on the grid for the 20-lap race, Pilgrim benefited from a solid race strategy and savvy driving as misfortune befell his rivals on the famed Florida airport circuit. He crossed the finish line 11.571 seconds behind Viper driver Mike McCann, launching Team Cadillac's defense of the World Challenge GT drivers and manufacturers championships in style. Max Angelelli had his CTS-V as high as 5th before a punctured tire forced him into the pits. He emerged in 23rd place, one lap down from the leaders, and fought his way back to16th as the checkered flag fell. "Max may have run over some debris on the track that damaged his tire," reported Team Cadillac program manager Dave Spitzer. "The Team Cadillac crew practices tire changes, and that paid off when they made a brilliant pit stop and got him back out quickly. "Andy did a great job of conserving his tires early and then he ran hard at the end," Spitzer noted. "He didn't have anything for McCann, but it was a great way to start the season with a Cadillac driver on the podium at Sebring again. We know that you make your own luck by working hard. Every time this team gets a good result, it motivates us to work even harder to make some more luck for the next race." Photos: R Prince, J Machaqueiro

ST. PETE: O’CONNELL REBOUNDS TO 2nd CADILLAC TAKES MANUFACTURERS LEAD Johnny O'Connell relied on his Pratt & Miller built Cadillac CTS-V and his years of street racing experience to finish as runner-up at St. Petersburg. After an electrical gremlin dropped him from second to sixth in the running order at the midpoint of the race O’Connell charged back through the pack to finish 7.973 seconds behind the winning Porsche, gaining enough positions to give Cadillac a two-point lead in the manufacturers championship. "Maybe it's my years of road racing experience, but working the traffic really helped me today," said O'Connell. "I was running fourth at one point, and when we came up on traffic, I think I read what was going to happen and passed two guys in one move." O'Connell's gutsy pass earned him the "B&M Oil Coolers Coolest Move of the Race" award. An electrical problem also struck Andy Pilgrim’s CTS-V, relegating him to an 8th place finish after he led the race for 11 laps. With his runner-up finish in the Sebring season-opener, Pilgrim came out of St. Pete second in the drivers championship standings. "Both Andy and Johnny drove phenomenal races today," said Team Cadillac program manager Dave Spitzer. "I'm proud of the whole team, and we'll look at the data and figure out what happened. We're thrilled that Johnny finished second."

LONG BEACH: CADILLAC AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL FELLOWS WINS WITH LAST-LAP PASS

SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE GT, RACE #3 Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach, California April 9, 2006

Team Cadillac earned its first victory of the year at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Ron Fellows executed a brilliant last-lap pass on the tricky street circuit to take the win. It was Fellows? third career SPEED GT win and it gave Cadillac a five-point lead over Dodge in the manufacturers championship. Andy Pilgrim finished seventh after starting the race at the back of the field because he spun on the pace lap. "That was good fun, and it shows that a Cadillac handles better than a Viper!" Fellows laughed. "There's no question that my experience here at Long Beach helped today. Mike blocked the inside, so I went to the outside. I could see how much rubber and grip there was out there, and I just gave it a shot. I had a great CTS-V racecar today, thanks to the engineers and crew on Team Cadillac. They gave me a really good setup, and the small-block V-8 was so smooth that I could manage my rear tires and save the brakes for the end of the race." "The idea was to bring an all-star team of champions from the GM Racing family to help Cadillac win the manufacturers' title," explained Steve Wesoloski, GM Racing road racing group manager. "With Ron's experience at Long Beach, it made sense to put him in a Cadillac CTS-V for this race. That experience paid dividends today." Photo: R Prince

MID-OHIO: CADILLAC FINISHES 5th PILGRIM TAKES 5TH WHILE O’CONNELL ELIMINATED BY CRASH The speed GT race at Mid-Ohio was marred by a multi-car accident in Turn 13 that ended the day for a number of competitors, including Johnny O'Connell. Andy Pilgrim drove his CTS-V through the chaos to move from 10th to fifth at the finish. "I knew this would be a tough race," said Pilgrim. "There were 10 cars running nose-to-tail, and something had to give. We were fine running in a line, but when we got into traffic, it had to happen. There were cars spinning everywhere, I saw Johnny get hit, and I had to thread the needle." O’Connell was understandably frustrated by the not only the accident, but also the performance restrictions SCCA imposed on the Cadillacs. "I'm disappointed because Team Cadillac gave me a great car and I was just biding my time," said O'Connell. "It's tough because the Cadillacs are saddled with so many handicaps that the competition just drives away from us on every straight." "We're glad that Johnny's OK, and the crew will be able to fix the car," said Team Cadillac program manager Dave Spitzer. "Andy did a terrific job as always, and the crew did a tremendous job from the minute we arrived. It's frustrating because this team wants to be able to race for a win, and I don't feel we were able to race today."

INFINEON: TEAM CADILLAC PLACES 3rd AND 4th PILGRIM POSTS FOURTH PODIUM FINISH OF SEASON

SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE GT, RACE #5 Infineon Raceway Sonoma, California June 24, 2006

The Pratt & Miller run Cadillac program kept championship hopes alive when Andy Pilgrim claimed the final spot on the podium and Johnny O'Connell finished 4th. These results were all the more respectable given the ongoing performance restrictions the SCCA imposed on Team Cadillac. Alluding to the extra weight the Cadillacs were forced to run with, Pilgrim had this to say: "Everyone was slipping and sliding, and we knew that whoever could slide the least was going to win. We were seeing extreme tire temperatures, and it makes sense that the car that won was the lightest car out there. O’Connell recognized the difficulty of trying to catch the lighter front runners but that didn’t stop him from trying after a late race caution. "It was a good restart," he said. "The leader was going slow coming to the flag, and I pulled the trigger right on time. I got by Andy, but wasn't able to get around Archer. I was pushing hard to catch the Viper, but those laps were as fast as I could go." "I'm pleased that both CTS-Vs ran well,” said Team Cadillac program manager Dave Spitzer, “but what we had today was everything we've got. Team Cadillac has terrific drivers, a great team and exceptional race cars, but under the current circumstances that's just not enough.” Photos: R Mochernuk

MILLER: PILGRIM 3rd AND FELLOWS 4th ANOTHER PODIUM KEEPS CADILLAC IN CONTENTION Team Cadillac posted a strong finish in the inaugural SPEED GT race at Miller Motorsports Park as Andy Pilgrim and Ron Fellows were third and fourth respectively in their CTS-Vs. The two Pratt & Miller built Cadillac race cars were unfazed by the heat at the high-altitude track and had trouble-free runs to the finish as other competitors dropped out. "The car was just about perfect everywhere, but we were sliding like crazy," said Pilgrim after scoring his third podium finish of the season. "I think the wind picked up and covered the track with dust because we had much less grip today than we did in practice and qualifying." Fellows fell behind at the start when he took evasive action to avoid contact with other cars but spent the remainder of the race patiently working his way through the field. He won the B&M Oil Coolers "Coolest Move of the Race" award for his inside pass on Mike McCann's Viper on lap 11. "Actually I think the coolest move of the race was avoiding running into Andy at the start," Fellows laughed. "Andy and I both got awesome starts and we both went for the middle. Whoever was in front of Andy bogged a little bit and when I got out of the throttle to avoid contact with Andy, I lost a lot of positions."

ROAD AMERICA: TOUGH DAY FOR CADILLAC PERFORMANCE RESTRAINTS HAMPER TEAM CADILLAC

SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE GT, RACE #7 Road America Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin August 20, 2006 QUALIFYING: 6th, Ron Fellows, #16 XM/Mobil 1/Motorola/On Star Cadillac CTS-V, 2m16.390s (106.846 mph) 7th, Andy Pilgrim, #1 XM/Mobil 1/Motorola/On Star Cadillac CTS-V, 2m16.544s (106.726 mph)

If adversity builds character, then Team Cadillac had character in abundance following the Road America race. Andy Pilgrim finished seventh while Ron Fellows, slowed by an intermittent problem with his CTS-V, finished 20th. "We started seventh and finished seventh, and we're doing the best we can with what the rules give us," said Pilgrim. "In the current circumstances, we're going into a gunfight with a water balloon. We can brake with the best cars, but otherwise we have no ammunition - we struggle on the straights and then work as hard as we can in the corners. The team is working fantastically hard, and to finish seventh is frankly amazing in this situation." “I was in the middle of a pack of cars,” reported Fellows after the race, “and with the restrictions the Cadillacs have, some of these guys could just blow past me,” he explained. “Once I got clear of the pack, I was able to make up some ground in the corners, but unfortunately we had some kind of gremlin.” “Today was a difficult day,” said Team Cadillac program manager Dave Spitzer. “I just wish we could compete; the fans can see how hard Andy and Ron are driving, and I know how hard the entire team is working. As reigning champion, Team Cadillac belongs up front, and we intend to get there again.” Photos: J Machaqueiro

MOSPORT: FELLOWS 3rd FOR TEAM CADILLAC CADILLAC REMAINS IN CONTENTION FOR CHAMPIONSHIP Ron Fellows finished third at Mosport, keeping the Pratt & Miller run program’s championship hopes alive despite the SCCA imposed performance penalties that held the Cadillac race cars back all year. Starting his No. 16 CTS-V on the pole on the rain-slick track, Fellows lost the drag race to the first turn to Michael Galati's all-wheel-drive Volvo S60R. He then lost second place to Tommy Archer's Viper on the 21st lap as his car suffered from an intermittent misfire. Andy Pilgrim suffered a similar misfire, finishing 21st after a pit stop failed to fix the problem. Galati won with a one-minute, 32-second margin of victory over Archer, and James Sofronas' Porsche finished fourth behind Fellows' Cadillac. Cadillac gained ground in the race for the manufacturers championship, cutting Porsche's lead to seven points and Dodge's margin to six points. Pilgrim's finish proved costly; he remained third in the drivers championship standings, but after Mosport trailed leader Lawson Aschenbach by 22 points. "We had a car that was strong enough to finish a solid second, so I'm disappointed for Team Cadillac today," said Fellows. "I could run a pace that perhaps could have put pressure on the Volvo, but as soon as the misfire started my lap times fell off seven or eight seconds. If we had been able to force Galati, the outcome might have been different. Photo: J Machaqueiro

The Pratt & Miller run Cadillac team turned in a championship-caliber performance at Road Atlanta. Andy Pilgrim scored his first victory since joining Team Cadillac and racked up nine valuable points in the manufacturers championship. Ron Fellows earned third in his CTS- V after a wild finish. "I'm very happy, really thrilled," said Pilgrim after his first World Challenge win since 1996. "I was running all-out for manufacturers' points today." Pilgrim started on the front row alongside Tommy Archer's Viper. Corvette driver Leighton Reese led at the first turn, but was penalized for jumping the start. Max Angelelli's Cadillac was then running second to Archer, with Pilgrim in third. Angelelli made a move for the lead on the second lap but spun into the tire barrier. Pilgrim pressured Archer and took the lead for good on the seventh lap. While Pilgrim led, Ron Fellows was engaged in a pitched battle with Archer for second. Fellows got ahead on lap 14 but Archer passed in the final corner, forcing Fellows into the grass as they raced side-by-side to the finish line. After his encounter with the tire barrier, Angelelli nursed his battered car back to the pits. The Team Cadillac crew made quick repairs and got him back into the fray, allowing him to complete 50 percent of the laps. Cadillac general manager Jim Taylor summed up today's race: "This one had everything and was full of drama," he said. "Team Cadillac came through at the end." Photos: R Prince, J Machaqueiro

LAGUNA SECA: ANGELELLI EARNS PODIUM SPOT PILGRIM FINISHES 3rd IN DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP All three of the Pratt & Miller built Team Cadillac CTS-Vs survived the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, but they bore the wounds of battle at the conclusion of the wild 27-lap race. Hit from behind on the first lap, Max Angelelli drove his No. 12 Cadillac through the pack after a costly pit stop to finish 3rd. Andy Pilgrim showed true grit as he shrugged off a third-lap spin, finishing 8th on the track and 3rd in the drivers championship. Johnny O'Connell was nailed from behind on a restart, then put the hammer down to take the 12th. "I'm very happy to finish on the podium for Cadillac," said Angelelli. "My CTS- V was outstanding as usual. I got hit on the first lap and that basically cut my race off, but I never gave up." Pilgrim's run for a second drivers title ended at the top of the Corkscrew. He dropped to 26th after a spin, then battled back to finish 8th. O'Connell's Cadillac was the pinball in the third-lap restart, sustaining damage to the rear and knocking his window net loose. After a pit stop to reattach the errant net, O'Connell charged to 12th at the checkered flag. “Our Cadillacs had to run with very significant performance handicaps this year,” reflected Jim Miller, “but despite that we remained in contention for the championships until the end. That shows how hard everyone connected to this program works, and also says a lot about the incredible performance of the CTS-V race cars.” Photos: R Prince, J Machaqueiro

The Pratt & Miller GTO.R customer car program expanded in 2006 with the addition of a third entry in the Grand-Am series, this one for Pacific Coast Motorsports. As in 2005, the Pratt & Miller designed and built GTO.R racecars dominated the opposition, including Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Mazda, and Ford. The GTO.Rs recorded 8 wins, 6 second-place finishes and 6 third-place finishes, swept the GT podium at Phoenix, and GTO.R drivers were on the podium in every single 2006 race (and every single race since the CompUSA 200 at Watkins Glen International in August of 2005 for a total of 19 consecutive podium finishes, a series record.) All of those visits to the podium yielded the 2006 GT manufacturers championship for Pontiac, the team championship for TRG, and the drivers championship for Andy Lally and Marc Bunting. And all of those championships reinforce one simple message – regardless of where they compete and who they run against, Pratt & Miller designed and built racecars are winners. Photos: R Prince

PRATT & MILLER PORTFOLIO PRATT & MILLER RACECARS THROUGH THE YEARS Gary Pratt and Jim Miller founded Pratt & Miller Engineering & Fabrication in 1989. Their aim was to create a world-class engineering, fabrication, and racing company that could take automotive-based programs all the way from concept to reality. Over the years Pratt & Miller has been involved in the creation and development a very diverse array of racecars, including sports racing prototypes, Trans-Am cars, Pikes Peak Hill Climb trucks, NASCAR stock cars, and various production-based GT racers. Particularly memorable vehicles include the incredibly powerful and advanced Chevrolet Intrepid GTPs, overall winning Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Chevrolet S-10 pickup, championship winning CTS-V Cadillacs and GTO.R Pontiacs, and incredible C5-R/C6.R Chevrolet Corvettes. The latter have quite literally blazed a trail through the record books in America and Europe on the way to becoming the most successful GT racers of the modern era. The motorsport landscape has changed dramatically over the years since Pratt & Miller’s founding and the company has changed with it, evolving into a truly world-class technology leader that offers comprehensive and cost efficient solutions to even the most complex challenges. But through all of the changes to the sport, the business, and the technology of racing, one thing has remained consistent; from the high banks of America’s superspeedways to the classic racing circuits of Europe, and from the heights of Pikes Peak to the medieval city of Le Mans, Pratt & Miller creates winners!

PRATT & MILLER ON THE MOVE THE MEN WHO MOVE THE MACHINERY Around the USA and across the Atlantic Ocean, the men who drive Pratt & Miller’s transporters are an important part of the company’s success. Race fans around the globe are intimately familiar with the blazingly fast C6.R Corvettes and beautiful CTS-V Cadillacs but few people give a moment’s thought to how these cars, and the massive amounts of spares, tools and equipment that enable them to win races and win championships, get from one venue to the next. The answer is simple; men with strong backs, steely determination, and impressive stamina get the job done. They pilot Kenworth and Volvo tractors pulling Featherlite and High Tech trailers loaded front to back and top to bottom with a total cumulative weight of some 175 tons. Though wheeling the big rigs to their destinations is a significant part of what the truckers do, their work neither begins nor ends with their drive to the races. Back in the shop they unpack the trailers after each race and repack them before the next one. They also are responsible for a variety of other things, ranging from equipment maintenance to turning wrenches on the cars. At the track the truck drivers and the team work together to unpack all of the tools and equipment, and set up the pit lane, paddock and hospitality infrastructures. The truckers also play an important role during the races, doing everything from fueling the cars during pit stops to hauling tires back and forth. From multi-tasking in the shop and at the races, to criss-crossing America and negotiating the medieval streets of Le Mans, the truckers are truly a driving force in the success of Pratt & Miller. 2006: Champions Again! When I first began as a member of this team I did not have any idea what a privilege it was. If there is one thing that I want to do for the team it is document its’ successes. This is our 6th Pratt & Miller book and each tells a different story through the words and the images. The company is growing so fast that it is not possible to cover every little thing but I do believe we got the big picture. I hope you enjoy all of the magnificent pictures and articles written that were donated to this book. Without all the behind the scenes help this book could not have been done. And without help and cooperation from all of you this book could not have been done either. I appreciate all the times you didn't want your picture taken because I personally hate having my picture taken too. But putting up with the photographers throughout the year ensures that all of your hard work and accomplishments are documented and preserved in these books. It’s amazing to think how far we have all come in the past 10 years, thanks to the hard work and incredible talent of everyone at Pratt & Miller, and it’s even more amazing to think about how much further we will go in the future working together as a team!
