FINE ART AUCTION
Dear Friends, As we Come Together tonight in support of Pratt Fine Arts Center’s mission to foster an inclusive, creative community, we remember a time when those same ideas changed the world. In the 1960s, there was a Bad Moon Rising and a movement Going Up the Country was rising to challenge it with peace, love and positive resistance. People everywhere were standing up and saying We’re Not Gonna Take It, with art and music unifying them in a counterculture that would sow the seeds of change for decades to come.
PHOTO: KARINA SAN JUAN
At the same time our namesake, Edwin Pratt, was leading the local civil rights movement, championing access and opportunity for all people. Those same values drive the mission of Pratt Fine Arts Center today as we strive to make accessible to everyone the joy and discovery of expressing oneself in art, showing them that You Can Make It If You Try. Pratt’s 37th annual auction is made possible With A Little Help From (our) Friends and we extend our immense gratitude to the staff, board, and Volunteers who have worked so hard to pull it off. You’ve got us Feelin’ Alright! Tonight we raise our paddles high and bid boldly and Try (just a little bit harder) to make art accessible to thousands of students and artists in the coming year. We may be just Everyday People but together we can Let the Sun Shine In. Thank you for your support! Wishing you peace, love, and art, Anna Skibska & Len Lewicki Auction Co-Chairs

His assassination in that year by unknown assailants was deeply felt by many Seattleites who depended on Pratt’s calm leadership during a period of social upheaval. For more than four decades, Pratt has been providing the Northwest community with the opportunity to experience art. Pratt’s classes teach nearly 4,000 students and its studios serve more than 300 working artists each year. Its classes, lectures and programs reach more than 20,000 people annually. Creating this plate took Vicki Platts-Brown a year. Instead of the quiet background Vicki had planned - she went for it and added extensive plant and sea life. With all the detail in the plate, she decided to continue in that vein and print a la poupee thereby increasing the movement in the print. The use of multiple colors and selective wiping adds depth and, hopefully, mystery.

ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN
Pratt Fine Arts Center is truly blessed with a dynamic community of artists who support the organization’s mission in a myriad of ways, year after year. Everybody Get Together features an especially impressive display of art contributed by a most incredible and generous group of artists. Artists, we stand in absolute awe of your creative contributions to the field and we are truly grateful for your gifts this year. We are forever grateful, thank you! Collectors, we encourage you to bid boldly this evening in support of our cause and in support of these artists who’ve been so giving. But we also encourage you to extend your support of these artists by visiting their studios and galleries and continuing to invest in their work throughout the year.
