Steffi will set up specific class times for your child on Friday, Saturday and/or Monday. Call her at 2357535 for orientation information, availability, and scheduling. Be sure to ask about siblings and multipleregistration discounts. For more details, go to www.baby-seals.com.

Basic Program ms:

This program evolves from survival skills to recreational swimming with beginning strokes within a short time period and allows your child and you to enjoy the water safely.

Infant Survival Infants, six to twelve months, learn to roll over from a face down position in the water onto their backs to relax, breathe. Babies will learn to roll and float fully clothed in case of an accidental fall into water. Learning these skills takes approximately 12 to 20 lessons. Lessons are one-on-one, 3 days a week, schedule between 7:00 and 9:15 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays. Parent participation may be required. Reusable swim diaper if appropriate. $45 registration fee is payable to the instructor. Registration fee waived for siblings. Location: Instructor: Ages: Fee:

Municipal Indoor Steffi Saul-Ketzler 6 – 12M $368/5 weeks

Children take approximately 20 to 32 lessons to acquire and consistently demonstrate these skills. Lessons are one-on-one, 3 days a week, scheduled between 7:00 and 9:15 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays. Reusable swim diaper may be required. Since lessons are individualized, each child progresses at his or her own pace. Duration of lessons depends on age, temperament, and coordination. Should a child complete a program in less time, a credit towards maintenance classes will be issued. Graduates may sign up for Fundays.

Recreation

These year-round swim classes in our indoor pool are designed to promote water safety for infants and young children. Parent participation may be required. Registration and supply fees are payable to the instructor.

Results in weeks not years! Toddlers and older children are taught the swim-float-swim-sequence. They learn to swim - full immersion and independently - and when exhausted during their swim, learn to flip onto their back, breathe, relax, regain strength, and continue to swim to safety. Children will learn to swim fully clothed in case of an accidental fall into water. Survival swimming skills serve as the foundation for learning correct stroke technique, while protecting your child from aquatic accidents.

“It’s great when you find a passion. You know - something you really enjoy. For some people, it’s music, or writing, or collecting flowers. It makes us unique and different from everybody else. Now, for me, it’s horses. I love the way they feel, the way they look, and all their different personalities. They are so beautiful with their flowing manes and tails, and the way they run and move. Even though I had always dreamed of volunteering where I could be around horses, I had never offered to help because I was always too young. But this year our school told us that the seventh and eighth graders were required to do community service hours. My mom found a place where I could volunteer called Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary, an equestrian center for horses that have been rescued from abusive situations. I was very excited because I would be able to help horses by grooming and feeding them. I was hoping that there wouldn’t be a lot of poop-scooping, but you can’t have everything! One day Susan Schwartz, the owner of Heaven Can Wait, offered us the opportunity to help with a Paso Robles recreation class that was scheduled. The class started out with a presentation by Angela Vinther about the body language of horses, such as the position of the ears and the eyes which say so much about the horses’ attitude towards life – and you. After that, the instructor taught the kids how to groom a horse. She brought out Mr. Z, otherwise known as Grandpa, to groom him. He is the sweetest horse I’ve ever met, and gentle, too. The kids were really excited, and they had a great time grooming and petting the horses. My mom and I assisted the students throughout the morning with the grooming, and even caught horses in the pasture. My favorite part of any day when I am out there is giving carrots to the horses. They get so excited! It’s adorable. I had an amazing time with all of the kids that day and they learned so much about horses. I love those horses so much, even though I’ve only known them for a few months. I am so glad that I was able to volunteer at Heaven Can Wait. Horses are such beautiful and magnificent animals. They deserve so much, and I’m glad that they are getting a Second Chance at a happy life.”

Activity Guide, June - August 2014

After Diane August was diagnosed with a gluten-intolerance in 2010, she tried to find a natural way to deal with the subsequent dietary restrictions. Combining her lifelong love of cooking, with her new-found passion for creating delicious, easy-to-make recipes, she developed an array of great tasting recipes. Her doctor sampled her creations and encouraged her to publish a cookbook to assist other patients who were having a hard time adjusting to the changes required in their diet. Even though Diane was surprised by his suggestion, she nonetheless decided to follow his advice and the result was a user-friendly cookbook called THE FREE COOKBOOK! Diane hopes that anyone with glutenintolerance, or those who want to cut artificial sweeteners and sugar out of their diet, will find her recipes tasting like wonderfully-familiar comfort foods that

The City of Paso Robles will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcomed in the City of Paso Robles offices, even where pets are generally prohibited. Contact Information: Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of City of Paso Robles, should contact Library & Recreation Services Department at the address above. You may also call 805.237.3988 or fax your request to 805.237.6424. Please contact our department no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event. The ADA does not require the City of Paso Robles to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden. REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY: For ongoing classes, participants may withdraw after they attend the first meeting and receive a partial refund if they file for a refund before the second class. No refunds issued after the second class. For Summer Swim Program or classes only meeting once, you must file for a refund at least 5 business days before the class starts. If participant cancels, he/she must contact the Centennial Park Registration Office, and will be subject to a minimum $7 service charge. Refunds for cash registrations will be mailed from the City Finance Department approximately 2 weeks after the request is received. Refunds on checks will be issued after the check has cleared the bank, which is generally within 30 days of receipt. In order to avoid the $7 fee, a participant may choose to keep the money on account to be used for another class. Revised 11/15/2013

CONTAMINATION can make any recyclable material ineligible for recycling. Some materials, like metals, can be recycled even with high levels of contamination. Other materials, like polystyrene, are barely recyclable to begin with, and can be rendered completely ineligible for recycling even with the slightest trace of contamination.
