The Disclosure Series A friend gave me a CD as a present (I remember which CD it was and which friend gave it but I won't mention those details), not knowing that I already owned it. The following day I went to the HMV store on Bloor St. near Yonge to exchange it for something else. I browsed around (I don't remember what
other CDs were out at the time) until I landed on the Audioslave CD. I had heard their single Like a stone on the radio but I knew nothing else about the band, other than they were led by Chris Cornell. I knew Chris from his Soundgarden days and was a great admirer of his voice and music (still am), so I took a chance and got this CD. I didn't listen to it for a long time ‐ even offered it to my brother, still shrink‐wrapped, to see if he wanted it (he didn't take it). Eventually I saw the music video for Show me how to live on MuchMusic one day and decided to open the CD and actually listen to it. My favorite tracks are: I am the highway, Show me how to live, Exploder, Shadow of the Sun, and of course Like a stone. I remember driving down from Toronto with my brother in August 2003 and hearing I am the highway while on the road. It was a very sunny day. The song resonated with me in that moment, on that curvy stretch of I‐81 (I think it was). Not many people I know like Audioslave or even know of this album or their work, but they're one of my favorite contemporary rock bands. Recently I rocked out to this album on a late Friday night with just three other people, drinking wine, taking photos, looking at art. I know all the lyrics to pretty much every song so I couldn't help but sing along. We were in a friend's art studio so we could turn the music up loud and sing as loud as we wanted.
