Why Rent? by Christina of All About You Rentals Writing this takes me way out of my comfort zone. Let’s just say I’m a behind the scenes kind of girl that loves to create and make new friends. In writing this I hope I can bring my vision to life for you. When it comes to decor, I seriously want you to see it through my eyes and love it as much as I do. It’s been almost 3 years since my cute hubby tossed the idea around of us starting a business…a rental business. A rental business? Is that even a thing? Seriously I had never seen one or been to a shop that had wedding and event décor. I mean I love to create, make things beautiful again, give old broken items new life, design and build things so much! I could hide in my garage for days at a time with my Dr. Pepper and some snacks; working on pieces of furniture or making new cake stands, signs, etc. Well, you know if life would let me. But a business? I was intrigued, excited, completely scared and a nervous wreck all at the same time. We decided to go for it and here we are…I have never worked so hard in my life. I’ve learned more than I thought my brain could ever hold about invoices, websites, taxes (UGH), and marketing just to state a few, BUT oh how grateful my heart is each and every day. I get to do what I love! We meet the most amazing people and have the opportunity to create and search for new beautiful pieces that will hopefully make each of your next big events whatever they may be, just a little extra special.

So Why Rent? Here are my three C’s that might help answer that question.

With any event there is so much to do! Our goal is to help simplify the process and make it as smooth as possible. We have hundreds of décor items in one location for you to view. My hope is that our shop will inspire each person that enters to create something they love by mixing and matching items to find the perfect centerpiece, aisle décor, backdrop set up, welcome area, or display table. When the day arrives, everything is packed neatly in totes and ready for its debut!

Have you ever had that moment when you can’t stop thinking about something you are excited about? That’s me so much of the time. My mind is always thinking of new pieces to create, restoring that incredible furniture item (I have several in the garage as I write this), seeking out vintage pieces, and of course finding those on trend items that are a must have of the season. I truly believe that each person should have beautiful unique items that represent who they are at their celebration!

Renting can save so much money not to mention the stress of searching, shopping and then what do you do with everything after the big day. What is better than saving lots of money and still getting the beautiful look you want? When it comes right down to it, I have no idea how we ever ended up running this little business. It was not something I ever planned but can’t imagine anything else right now in my life. Renting décor is the secret I wish I could tell everyone about and wish I would have known about years ago. Are you on the beach? In the mountains? At an Airbnb by the lake? In your parent’s backyard? At the spot where they proposed? In your favorite National Park? Where ever you choose, make it a place that you both love!

If your first date was an ATV ride, incorporate it into your elopement. If you both share a bond over cliff jumping into water... DO IT! Focus on having fun with each other because those are the stories and the experiences that make it unforgettable. Plus, your photos will be incredible!

Involve your closest Friends + Family - surround yourself with people who will support you, love you, and hype you up all day long so that you can leave any pre-wedding jitters behind.

Consider Private Vows + First Looks - It’s so easy to get caught up in ‘wedding planning’ and lose sight of what really matters: each other! Choosing to do private vows and first looks is an opportunity on your wedding day for you to connect with each other without the pressure of ‘all eyes on you’ or feeling like you need to play ‘host’. Depending on your wedding day timeline, these could be done the morning before your ceremony or even the day before. Throw out the ‘rulebook of traditions’ and do what makes you happy and make sure to take time to enjoy these special moments together.

Get the Bouquet of your Dreams - Your flowers are a huge part of the wedding decor and overall vibe so make sure you choose flowers that scream ‘you’. It is not uncommon to create a color palette around a bouquet that you fall in love with - especially since your bouquet will be a major focal point (besides you and your lover) in a lot of your photos. Real flowers can enhance an entire wedding and are the perfect accessory for you in your wedding attire!

What Unforgettable Moment doesn’t involve Food? CAN I GET AN ‘AMEN!’ I don’t think I’m alone when I say that food freaking rocks and should definitely be incorporated into your wedding. Whether you’re doing a plated dinner or an intimate picnic, choose your favorite foods to enjoy on your wedding day. Trust me, at the very least it will keep you from getting hangry, and at most, it will enhance your overall experience (as long as you remember to take time to actually eat it - which I highly recommend!

Use the Best Vendors (including a wedding planner!) -- the best way to make sure your elopement is unforgettable is to make sure that it is totally + completely filled with unforgettable memories - none of that pesky (but necessary) behind-the-scenes stuff. Make sure you have the best vendors involved so that you don’t have to worry about anything other than each other on your wedding day. Leave the logistics up to your planner, and yes - even elopements need planners!

Yes, you get a bonus tip because I can’t let you finish this article without re-iterating that YES, EVEN ELOPEMENTS NEED A COORDINATOR! You don’t realize the millions of details that go into planning an elopement until you’re in the middle of it and having a coordinator on board ensures that nothing falls through the cracks. We are there to be the liasion with your vendors, to hike with your bouquet, to make sure you look flawless when you change into your dress at the top of a cliff, to hype you up, to make sure your romantic picnic is set-up before you arrive, and to make sure you eat and drink (no one likes a hangry bride!) But mostly, an elopement coordinator is there to make sure that your day is flawless whether you decided to have 2 people or 200 people at your celebration of love.

Preserve your Bouquet- remember that ‘bouquet of your dreams’ that I mentioned? What if I told you that there was a way for you to keep it forever? Yes, f o r e v e r! Whether you choose a pressed floral frame, a floral block.....(or both!)... you can preserve that magic of your wedding day through a unique keepsake that will serve as a constant reminder of the vows you made to each other on that day. There are only a few physical things that you get to keep from your wedding day (besides your lover, of course): your ring, your photos, and now your bouquet. Pro tip: Include this in your budget or as a ‘cash’ option in your registry so that guests can contribute to this forever-piece!

OH and...marry the love of your life, but that’s a given. ;) Planning an elopement is more than just ‘throwing a party’ - it’s a celebration of the love and commitment that you are making to each other and that is worth making sure it’s absolutely unforgettable. Planning a dream wedding in unlikely circumstances by Shelley Grose of Sweetheart Bridal

I’ve been working with wedding couples for the last ten years and have seen just about every different circumstance possible. From couples that don’t have any family support to rushed weddings for health reasons to budget cutting due to a job loss, there are many reasons why people find themselves in unlikely circumstances. With so many things in the world that have drastically changed over the last year and a half, it’s now even more of a task to plan and coordinate everything. Whether you find yourself planning a wedding (or any event for that matter) in difficult circumstances or just find planning a wedding difficult, here are three tips to help you focus on what matters most.

Tip #1: Don’t stress over what you can’t control. After going through a whole wedding year of plans getting cancelled and changed at the last minute from the pandemic, there was one thing that stuck out to me- There is only so much that you can control about your wedding day. While you can plan and pick out all the details, there are really only a few things that are completely under your control and that is who you marry and how you will look. Hopefully you can figure out who you should marry on your own. When it comes to how you will look, know your options and stay true to yourself. I recommend dress shopping as early as possible so you can have the most options. Purchasing a dress is definitely less risky than renting a dress, since many rental places are consignment and you don’t really know what condition the dress will be in until you pick it up. The last thing you want to deal with the week of your wedding is having issues with the dress. When shopping for your dress, keep an open mind and try on a few styles that you usually wouldn’t choose for yourself. By doing this you’ll either surprise yourself and fall in love with something unexpected, or you’ll reaffirm your original thoughts. Dresses can take anywhere from 4-6 months to order in, so be prepared to wait or choose something from a boutique like Sweetheart Bridal that stocks dresses to sell, catering to brides with shorter engagements. one hundred percent reflect you and your personal style. This is another reason why we strongly suggest purchasing your own dress, instead of borrowing one. You shouldn’t borrow someone else’s style for your wedding day. Don’t forget to include the groom’s clothing when it comes to choosing your style. The groom, although often overlooked, is technically half of the couple and should have just as much attention put into his clothing. Like the bride, the groom should also have something new to wear for his wedding day. The last thing you want the groom to do is put on an old church suit to get married in. If the bride is wearing something beautiful and a self-expression of her personality, so should the groom. Suits and Tuxedos have come a long way in the last ten years. There are more options than ever in regards to fit and color for the groom and he should seek out all his options before narrowing down his final choice. Consider buying a new suit or even a custom suit for the groom. This can be something that he can wear over and over again and can be a great investment. Not to mention, he will feel like a million bucks putting on a custom suit on his wedding day. DC Tuxedos is a great place to explore all the options for a groom. They offer suits (including custom), and tuxedos for rent or purchase. Renting suits can be a great option for the bridal party so you can make sure all the colors coordinate and be able to outfit a variety of body shapes and sizes.

Tip #2: Pick and choose whose opinions matter So many times we see a bride or groom being persuaded into something for their wedding by someone whose opinion shouldn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. The bride is important, the groom is important and those who are contributing financially to the wedding are important. The rest of the opinions should be taken with a grain of salt. Remember, the wedding day is a reflection of the bride and groom and the things that matter to them. If you need an extra opinion about something make sure you are asking it from someone who wants what is best and who understands your style and wedding goals. This is especially important then dress shopping. Often we have groups of friends come in with a bride and see them talk the bride out of something she clearly loves because it might not be what they pictured her in. Before going dress shopping with your friends and family have an open conversation with them about being supportive and letting the bride have the final say. Don’t be afraid to remind them throughout the experience that the dress should reflect the bride’s style and she is the one that needs to love it.

Tip #3: Put your money where the pictures are. Invest the majority of your budget into the things that you will have pictures of hanging on your wall: the dress, the groom’s attire, bridal bouquet and good quality photos. While the rest of the wedding details may seem equally important, they are usually the first things you forget about. I can’t remember what we served at my reception and didn’t even get to eat it. My announcements all got thrown away and even the décor wasn’t important after the wedding was over. The things that are the most important, and the things you shouldn’t skimp on, are the things you see in your photos that you will be hanging on your wall. Buy the dress you really want, pick the bouquet of your dreams and invest some of your budget on a good photographer. When choosing a photographer, ask for reviews and referrals. Choose someone that other brides have recommended and make sure you like their photography style. Your photographer should have an editing style that fits with your personal style as well. After narrowing down your choices, ask to meet with the photographer and see if your personalities mesh. Choose someone who you click with and who will understand the vision that you have for your photos. Photos are an investment and you won’t regret hiring a professional to capture your wedding day. No matter what circumstance you may find yourself in when planning your wedding, remember to not stress about the things you can’t control, pick and choose whose opinions you consider and put your budget towards the things you’ll be capturing in your photos.

First, find images of bouquets and arrangements that you love. Instagram and Pinterest are full of great inspo! Next, make sure to look through potential florists’ portfolios. Are their arrangements close to the same style as the pictures you’ve found and loved? When you hire a florist whose style you love, you won’t have to stress about getting something different on your wedding day. Talk with a potential florist, and see how well they can answer your questions. Do they ease your worries? Your florist is there to make a hard process easier to manage!

Simply put, it depends. You should go to as many as it takes until you find your dream dress. For some brides this could be 1. For others, it may take 5 or more.

Once you’re engaged, couples should book their venue as soon as possible. Wedding dates quickly fill up, especially in 2021 and 2022. Your venue has the potential to give your wedding “wow factor.” It determines the style and theme of your wedding as well. It indicates ceremony and reception location, guest count limitations, wedding date, and so much more. Your venue can add or detract wedding day stress. Book your venue first because it sets the tone for your dream wedding day experience.

We recommend scheduling one appointment at a time and making sure that your entourage is present at each appointment. By doing this, you allow yourself to approach every appointment prepared to find your dream dress. Look at your guest list, especially those who have RSVP’d, to get a rough idea of how many people you need to feed. However, also consider the other refreshments planned. If you’re having a dessert bar, it’s safe to assume a portion of guests will decline a slice of cake having filled up on other sweets. Wedding reception style can also play a role in cake servings needed. It’s typical of Utah weddings for guests to come and go and not stay for the entire evening, so not all guests will be present at the cake cutting. If there’s a certain cake design you love that doesn’t accommodate the needed serving amount, you can typically add on servings in the form of sheet cakes or eliminate unneeded servings by having faux cake tiers.

YES! A day after lends itself well to those that don’t want to see each other before the ceremony. Many couples love the idea of a separate photo session but also want to stick with the traditional custom of waiting to see each other on the day of. Although it seems unconventional, a day AFTER session is a perfect way to get those dramatic, personal photos you’ve always dreamed of. Your wedding comes and goes in the blink of an eye and often it’s difficult to capture those intimate moments at the wedding/reception. Whether the lighting wasn’t ideal, or the location didn’t serve itself well to those pinterest worthy photos. Maybe the day itself was more chaotic than expected? A day after provides you with a time to secure the dreamy photos you deserve. Here are a few reasons you should consider one. 1-You get to wear your dress again! Trust me, you’ll want to. 2- You get to choose your setting. Perhaps you want an intimate, romantic, private moment. Maybe you’re up for a mountain top adventure, a beach sunset or a field of wildflowers. 3You get to choose the time. Get with your photographer and discuss timing. Golden hour is always a hit, but blue hour or sunrise might be more your style. Lighting is a photographer’s best friend! Use it wisely. 4-Lastly, many photographers will allow you to use this time in place of a bridal/formal session, so there’s no extra cost to you. Most of all, have fun with it and enjoy your time together!

That’s a great question! For events I usually recommend 36-48 inches. But your options are endless! This is why I love being part of the creative process. Brides and grooms alike come to me with their ideas and together we create something of their wedding dreams. The Wolffs sign pictured above was designed by one of the grooms. Moisturizer is fine to put on before your appointment but if other makeup is on, it takes time away from your appointment to remove other makeup! 4. Alert your makeup artist if you are allergic to any cosmetic products. You don’t want to have an allergic reaction on your wedding day! Be careful trying any new intense facials or new skin care products too close to your wedding, to avoid any allergic reactions. 5. Have realistic expectations! We love when you send us inspiration photos for the look you are hoping for, but remember, the person in the photo has different hair, skin, and coloring than you do. Your Wedding Dress

Picking out a wedding dress is by far the most important part of your wedding day outfit. And while the dress is crucial, it’s not the only piece of the puzzle. Many brides don’t give much thought to what should go with the dress, which can end up being a very stressful task if left to the last minute. There are many different ways to accessorize a wedding dress and choosing the right accessories for you and your dress can start to get overwhelming. Just know that from your head to your toes (literally), the possibilities of your wedding day look are endless! At LatterDayBride, we’ve seen it all, and we want to share the tips and tricks that we’ve accumulated to guide you through the process of accessorizing for you wedding day.

COMPLEMENT YOUR DRESS You never want your accessories to take away or distract from your wedding dress. If you have accessories, make sure that they are complimenting the dress. For example, if a dress has a v-neck, we recommend adding a simple, dainty necklace. If a dress has long sleeves, maybe refrain from wearing a bracelet so there isn’t any distraction from the sleeves on the dress. Another way to make sure that your accessories are complementing the dress is to find ways to tie the elements of the dress into the accessories you wear. This may look like picking out a veil with pearls on it if there are pearls incorporated into the dress already. It could also mean wearing silver jewelry to match the silver beading stitched into your dress. If your dress has enough going on, sometimes the best accessory is no accessory!

DO WHAT YOU WANT

We don’t know about you, but we feel that being comfortable is one of the top priorities on your wedding day. The last thing anybody wants is for the bride to be so worried about her veil being stepped on that she can’t enjoy her own wedding day! Plan ahead with your accessories and try them on ahead of time. This way, you can make sure that your bracelet doesn’t pinch your arm hairs or that you have a way to secure your headpiece in your hair.

This day is about YOU. If wearing a veil is something you just aren’t interested in, don’t wear a veil. If your dress has silver on it, but you want to wear gold earrings, DO IT! I preach this to all of my brides, but if it’s what you want, you will like it. Your wedding is going to be unique because YOU are the one that made the decisions for it. Don’t get too wrapped up in everyone else’s opinions and preferences. Listen to yourself and what you want!

Think about the events that you have planned for the wedding. If you’re going to do a lot of dancing or moving around, maybe stick to a shorter veil that won’t drag on the ground or plan a hairstyle that allows you to remove the veil after photos. You know yourself best, so just picture what you have planned for the day of your wedding and figure out what accessories you are going to feel the best with.

As it goes with many decisions about your wedding, there really isn’t a RIGHT or WRONG answer when it comes to picking out accessories for your dress. Just make sure you are going to be happy and comfortable on your wedding day - no matter what accessories you do or don’t decide to wear!

Before you pick out or design your wedding ring, we believe it’s important to change the way you think about this crowning piece of fine jewelry. We like to call wedding rings the “Queen Heirloom”. An heirloom is: “A valuable object that has belonged to a family for generations.” So shift your thinking to understand.. the moment your wedding ring is created, your first family heirloom is born! Trends in jewelry are much like trends in fashion. Styles come and go quickly each year, while there always remains a steady classic standard underneath. As you decide on your ring, don’t make any quick or high pressure choices. If a style is catching your eye, make sure it’s not too high on the “trendy scale”. Even though you might love it today because it’s cutting edge and high fashion, a few years from now it might be out of style and dated.

Keep classic style as the center foundation of your ring. You’ll never regret it.

The second thing to remember is making sure your ring is the perfect fit for “you”. Each woman is completely unique, and as such, each wedding ring should be too! If you walk into a fine jewelry establishment and have only a handful of choices, be aware that you could be led to choose something that doesn’t really represent you. One thing we highly recommend is designing a custom wedding ring. If you work with a company that specializes in custom engagement rings, the price will stay in line with what is available in jewelry stores. Working with a designer to add your favorite elements into your ring will ensure that it truly represents you and your story. The final piece will be completely one of a kind, and will tell your story through the generations. So take a deep breath, keep the big picture in mind, and don’t be rushed as you make this once in a lifetime decision. This, the Queen of all your family Heirlooms, will someday be a truly priceless reminder of you, your love, and the beginning of your story.
