Thank you for taking a look through our Fall 2013 Boar Catalog. It has continued to be an incredibly exciting time at Premium Blend Genetics. With winners coming in at a rate we would not have dreamed , females continuing to settle at very high levels, and we feel have been able to lay in what we think is an absolute beastly set of new boars to our line-up across almost every breed. Along with the 36 boars in stud we will be breeding approximately 90 Berkshire, Crossbred, Hampshire, & Poland China females to breed this Fall with 1/3 of those planned for the Dec 5th On-Line Bred Git Sale. We are truly grateful for every order and to now be able to work with my family on a daily basis doing something we love is an incredible opportunity that I do not take for granted. As you may be aware, Superman is no longer with us as he had to be put down. He injured his back early this spring and we treated him every way possible and it appeared he was headed to full recovery. However, he later re-injured his back and reached a point where he was unable to stand up even with great assistance. This will be his last listing in a catalog but we wanted to pay tribute to a truly great sire who we believe will continue his incredible influence through his full-brothers Dark Knight & Big Gulp and sons SuperFly & SuperBad as well as the numerous tremendous daughters he produced. His DNA has been banked but we are holding off cloning at this time. Superman is buried in front of the boar barn and will soon have a plaque on display in his honor. There are very few pigs that can change your life - Superman changed ours!!! We apologize we do not have room to list all the Superman winners but many of his winners @ Majors are shown or listed below.

Timing is everything and Dark Knight ranted out right around Belton when people saw him on the trailer and when he 1st got back to Indiana but Chris Jones will tell you Dark Knight was the best as a baby and time will tell which son brings the most to the table.

Heat Stroke was a February boar we did not do justice to in the hustle to get the stud started. We did him a disservice by not showing him at the open house but those that saw him later loved him and used him on some really good females. The mother of Superfly was a littermate we sold to Adam Beck and produced their record $7800 weanling gilt , $5100 gilt & $21K litter and that gilt & litter would be full-sibs to Superfly as they were sired by Superman as well. Negative AC/DC x Kindergarden Cop Bred by Schmailing Bros Berkshires Purchased from Harlan Reid Stress Negative EN 7-9 Reg# 115392009

We were searching for the Berkshire boar to get the front ends up and add extension to go back on the powerful Berkshire females that have been rolling out the last few years. The 1st class of gilts @ WPX was won by Boland’s gilt we thought was way good in those areas. She went on to win 4th Overall Berkshire @ WPX Then we saw her littermate barrow that ended up being 3rd Overall @ WPX and we got real interested in their sire TNT. The gilt then came back a few weeks later to win Champion Berkshire & 3rd Overall @ Team Purebred and sold privately for $8500. So we approached Mr. Harlan Reid at Springfield about the possibility of working something out on TNT and were able to come to an agreement to bring him to Premium Blend. TNT continued his great summer with Sheets’ Reserve Barrow @ InSF 4-H. We think TNT on the power gilts that have been laid in the Berkshire breed the last couple of years could be an explosive combination. Between TNT & Shotgun Wedding we feel very comfortable that we have some excellent options for our customers.

We had heard reports and saw videos of lots of really good red ones heading to WPX and the show did not disappoint in our opinion and wise guy was one of the key reasons we thought the show was stout. It took $30,000 to get it done but we were thrilled to be able to load WISE GUY onto the trailer and bring him home. We think he has all the tools to have a major impact in the Duroc breed. Then he turns to come at you and he absolutely blows you away with an incredible chest floor that runs perfectly true all the way to the ground with toes dead square at every corner. When we saw the video of Bone on Facebook we felt we had to try to own him as we thought he could help lots of crossbred females make better showpigs by getting their feet and legs back where they needed to be and to jack their front ends up at the point that their shoulder is the highest point on their skeleton. He hit beyond what we could have hoped for this winter throughout the south and southwest and reports continue to be tremendous this Spring from coast-to-coast. BONE THUG is Bone Collector x Warfare with his grandma being the tremendous Larry Moore Square-Deal pure Yorkshire who is an impressive beast and has been a tremendous generator for the Goss's. As a show gilt she was Supreme Purebred Oklahoma State Fair, Champion York Tulsa, & Class-winner NJSA Southwestern BONE THUG has his daddy's look but is in a more moderate package (note - many comment that Bone Collector himself is more moderate than he appears in pictures and videos). and is built like a cross between a pit-bull and a rhino. THUG looks like he was constructed with a square and a level - and that level runs up-hill from his tail to the tip of his nose just like his dad. We think he will be a BARROW-MAKING MACHINE. With the addition of BONE CHILL and BONE THUG we think we have assembled a line-up of Hillbilly Bone descendants that can fit your females any way you want to take them. Thrilled to get this son in stud and rolling. Bone Chill's mother raised the Solomon gilt that was Reserve Cross and 3rd Overall @ the 2011 InSF and is consistently one of the top producers for the Lawyer's. Bone Collector is on an awesome run with barrows & gilts in Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, & Oklahoma and we are confident Bone Chill will help build on that success. Visitors have frequently commented that the picture of Chill does not do him justice and that he ranks in the very top group of boars they have seen this fall. Off-spring will be sound as a cat. Color will follow the dam. Pure Yorks tend to be very largely snow white, belts go belted, sows that have red will get calico or red-belts. Babies are immature and very loose in their design. Babies will tend be not shredded early but when you want it you can get it - FAST. He will put as monster a channel down a top as any. Many compared GunSlinger himself and his babies to the legendary Supermonster as far as design and maturity pattern and we obviously take that as a huge complement. Gunslinger babies will likely be ones that buyers who trust their breeders will benefit from getting their advice on how they will feed out and how to feed them. Most common trend on where he works - Take him to as much bone and width as you can. He lets great sows do their stuff. We think he is a “breeders” boar. Well we found the most monster boned and footed one we have ever seen. We have never seen front toes this wide and square on a Poland and not on very many of any breed. Then we see the set to his front and rear pasterns and they are PERFECT. Then we see he is Stress Negative. Then we see him roll down the aisle in an incredibly athletic package. You will rarely see a Poland that reaches and grabs the ground with his rear pasterns like Perfect Storm. Then we see his rib, body & mass. Then we see his awesome top and rump shape. Then we see he is 3/4 outcross to PSSS Nom Nom Nom and an outcross to the Pretty Good Hog / Dang Good Hog / Done Deal lines and it hit us all as the PERFECT STORM. What we didn't know from the video was that he would be bringing the massive top and rib that he has. This guy can absolutely float all day and has an up-headed look-at-me presence. Our #1 priority heading into the summer was adding a great Yorkshire boar. We weren’t sure where he would pop up but we knew it would very likely take a big number to get him as the demand for Yorkshire semen is pretty stout. The number ended up being $60,000 and we think it will be money very well spent. Garrett ended up being prime on watching the Yorkshire show for us @ WPX and there was NO doubt what boar he thought we needed. There were several really good Yorkshire options at the show and a couple that we sure would take in a heart-beat as well but when we looked thru them after the show, we all agreed that the Ricker boar was one of the more unique Yorkshires we had seen in quite some time. Very intriguing in his combination of a powerful yet extended head and neck. Massive in his top and chest and all wrapped up in a very correct structure with a hip design that is nearly perfect in our judgment. If you’re tired of Yorkshires that have a speed-bump-like ham-loin junction we aren’t sure we have seen many that we think can fix that faster than C9. We certainly have great respect and admiration for the Yorkshire breed but it is not one that we breed on a daily basis so we asked several Yorkshire breeders what they would be looking for in a Yorkshire boar to breed to their sows. The response was pretty consistent– get their pasterns up off the ground, moderate them so they don’t have to be 350 lbs to finish out, and get rid of their “jump” muscle. WELL - HERE YOU GO. The traits that we think make him so unique for the Yorkshire breed are his expressive muscle shape, and that he has this shape without being too rigid or jumpy in his ham/loin junction. This guy also has an incredible appetite and has gotten better and better since we got him home! A very unique Yorkshire boar that we think can do many things to improve the next generation!
