Salina Presbyterian Manor announces Art is Ageless® winners
Salina Presbyterian Manor is excited to announce the winners of its recent Art is Ageless® juried competition and exhibit.
“We’re honored that local seniors allowed us to exhibit and judge their wonderful works,” said Amanda Randolph, senior living sales director. “Art is Ageless is unique because it only features the works of artists who are 65 and over. Our artists prove it’s never too late to create art, in any form.
Local competition winners will join winners from 14 other PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®) senior living communities to be judged at the masterpiece level.
Tips for staying safe during summer heat
Summer is here and so is the heat. Not only do rising temperatures make life uncomfortable, they can also be life threatening.
To help keep you and your loved ones safe this season, the Center for Disease Control reminds you to stay cool, stay hydrated and stay informed.
Stay cool
• Wear loose-fitting lightweight clothing
• Stay within an air-conditioned environment as much as possible
• Limit outdoor activities to when it is the coolest
• Cut down on strenuous outdoor exercise
• Wear sunscreen—sunburns affect your body’s ability to cool down and can make you dehydrated
• Avoid hot and heavy meals
Stay hydrated
• Drink plenty of fluids—don’t wait until you’re thirsty (if your doctor limits how much you drink, be sure to check first)
• Stay away from sugary or alcoholic beverages
• Replace salt and lost minerals with sport drinks (if you are a low-salt diet, check with your doctor before taking any supplements)
• Provide plenty of water for your pets
Stay informed
• Check your local news or weather app for extreme heat alerts
• Learn the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness
• Keep an eye on those at risk— infants, those dealing with a chronic illness and overweight individuals u

Memory Care at Salina Presbyterian Manor
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month, and here at Salina Presbyterian Manor, we know how a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease or any other form of dementia can changes lives. from the patient whose brain is changing to their family members even friends, everyone has to adjust to a new reality.
That’s why we offer a dedicated memory care neighborhood with services and programs designed for those living with dementia.
The Morrison Center on our campus is a warm and inclusive environment. Our specially trained team members provide 24hour supervision and personalized care tailored to each resident's individual needs. Our memory care community also provides programs and activities that allow for meaningful interactions and promote social wellness for those living with cognitive decline.
Salina Presbyterian Manor has been serving Saline County since 1980. It's the only continuing care retirement community in Salina meaning, we're the only community where residents can have peace of mind that our memory care neighborhood will be available to them if and when they need the extra assistance.
Our Memory Care team members are trained in finding activities that benefit the residents, like this cupcake decorating activity.
While baking our residents were able to reflect on memories from the past, whether they baked often themselves or remember moments baking with a loved one on special occasions. The decorating is also therapeutic as it exercises the short-term memory as residents remember the steps to complete the activity.
Our parent company, PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of MidAmerica®) is a leader in memory care within the senior living industry and works to stay ahead of new treatments and technologies. PMMA is a not-forprofit organization celebrating 75 years of serving seniors across Kansas and Missouri. Our mission is to provide quality senior services guided by Christian values.

See what home can be!
The Villas feature two-bedroom, twobathroom homes featuring nine-foot ceilings, natural lighting, covered patios and more. Plus, all the amenities, activities, and a world of options are included. The Villas are easily walkable, and near the Ralph Reitz Memorial Park. There’s even a brand new Pickleball court...coming soon!
You are invited to visit the newest part of our community - the Villas.
Martha and Dennis Oaks shared their experiences at the Villa. The couple has lived in their new home for several months and have found it to be a perfect fit.
“Martha used to tell me that my sole job was to make her happy,” Dennis said. “Every now and then I ask her how I’m doing.”
He pointed to three primary reasons they chose The Villas.
“One was to take care of her so when I pass on, she’s taken care of,” Dennis said. “The other reason was the access to medical care. And thirdly was the maintenancefree living.”
“I like that everything is on one floor,” Martha said. “I can scream at him from any room in the house.”
Martha also said the community quickly felt like home.
Salina Presbyterian Manor is a unique community to live in,” she said. “They help promote you in meeting people, and there are activities to participate in. The people who live here, it’s camaraderie.”
Dennis said the move has brought them a lot of peace of mind.
“People always say if something happens to me. Well, my experience in life hasn’t been if something happens, it’s when,” he said. “Already being here is peace of mind.”
