Going Cup Crazy!

PVM’S VILLAGE VICTORY CUP 2024 RETURNS!

On June 21st, at the Suburban Showcase in Novi, PVM’s Village Victory Cup came back to life after a one-year hiatus. Your donation was pure athletic MAGIC as 100% of this event (equipment, transportation, uniforms, venue, food…) was funded by donations

300+ older adults from 16 PVM Villages competed HARD in multiple events to bring the coveted Village Victory Cup and many gold medals back to their Village. Think of it as a supercharged field day for older adults!

First time is a charm! The Village of Woodbridge Manor celebrates winning their first CUP!!! Party Time!!!
All 16 Villages filled the venue with so, so much spirit. But only one could win the Spirit Award. Congrats to The Village of St. Martha’s!

The PVM Village Victory Cup was more than physical athletic events. Teams were timed on who could put a puzzle together the fastest as a mental athletic event.

PVM residents got game! From underhand, to overhand shots, whatever worked to get the ball in the basketball hoop.

Where did the bean bags go? They were all in the hole. PVM residents ruled this event.

Staying physically active is a continual challenge for all of us, but especially for older adults. The PVM Village Victory Cup is a fun and uplifting way to keep the mind, body, and spirit engaged. Residents train for this event throughout the year!

Kudos to the Village of Woodbridge Manor for winning their first Village Victory Cup and to the Village of St. Martha’s for earning the Spirit Award! A City of Detroit sweep!! Also an extra special tip of the PVM cap to all the participants and our amazing volunteers for a wonderful day!

The PVM Village Victory Cup 2024 was quite an event! Your donation made it happen.

THANK YOU!

YOUR DONATION IN ACTION SUMMER FUN AT THE VILLAGE OF ROSEBUSH MANOR

Summers in Michigan are so wonderful. After many months inside, summer hits, and it’s time to enjoy the outdoors. The Village of Rosebush Manor (just north of Mt. Pleasant) is in the final construction stages of having a handicap-accessible outdoor pavilion.

The wonderful new 3 season pavilion became a reality through your donation to the PVM Foundation. Rosebush residents and their family/ friends will now have a place to gather and enjoy the outdoors- thanks donors! This space will serve as a hub for residents to gather, enjoy fresh air, and it’s just steps away from their homes at the Village, which will help reduce isolation.

The pavilion is creating quite a buzz around the campus! The first event held in the pavilion will be the 20th Anniversary party for the Village of Rosebush Manor. There will be food, drinks, and a live band, along with lots of fun and fellowship.

If you’re around Rosebush later this summer, drop by, and I bet you’ll see something happening at their new pavilion!

COMING SOON SEPTEMBER 2024!

Jessica Gross, Village of Rosebush Manor Administrator, and all the residents are so ready for their new pavilion!

CHAMPIONING SENIOR LIVING: MICHELLE WILLIAMS’ LEGACY AT PVM

Meet Michelle Williams, a dedicated advocate for older adults, an esteemed member of the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) community for over 17 years, and our newest Legacy Society member!

Michelle’s journey with PVM began during her tenure as a marketer for home health care agencies, where frequent visits to various villages ignited her passion for PVM’s mission and its profound impact on seniors’ lives. Inspired by these experiences, Michelle joined the Board of the Village of Our Saviour’s Manor shortly after its inception. Recognizing Michelle’s profound dedication to older adults, the village administrator eagerly welcomed her as a valuable addition to the team.

Beyond her role in the Village, Michelle serves as a pivotal member of the PVM Foundation Board. Her commitment is rooted in the belief that every individual, regardless of their financial means, deserves a safe, clean, and dignified place to call home. “PVM’s unwavering focus on enhancing the quality of life for older adults and its equitable treatment of all aligns closely with my personal values and mission,” Michelle emphasizes.

Reflecting on her decision to include PVM in her Will and to join the PVM Legacy Society in June 2024, Michelle explains, “It’s about ensuring that the work I care about continues beyond my lifetime.” Her dedication ensures the future sustainability of PVM, emphasizing what matters most to her: leaving a lasting impact on the community and imparting her values to her family.

Michelle Williams joined the PVM Legacy Society in June 2024 by adding PVM to her Will.

In Michelle’s own words, “I am wholeheartedly supportive of PVM!”

We invite you to join Michelle in creating your own legacy gift for the next generation of older adults. Remember, anyone can make a lasting impact. PVM warmly welcomes and appreciates legacy gifts of all sizes.

A New Way to Age CELEBRATING THE SUCCESS OF YOUR GENEROSITY

Learn more about the wonderful things your donations are doing! Scan the QR code or visit pvmf.org.

When I started 18 years ago, the PVM Foundation was in the early stages of a fundraising effort called “A New Way to Age.” This campaign was a push to raise funds through donations to reframe how we age.

I was so inspired by the mantra “A New Way to Age,” that I have a framed picture in my office to remind me daily that our vision is to inspire and create new possibilities for older adults. However, “A New Way to Age” is only an inspirational catch phrase without you, the donor.

Because of your thoughtful donation to the PVM Foundation, an older adult is better off today and well into the future. Your donation to PVM’s Campaign for the Ages has raised $13.5M since late 2020. Here are just a few select areas where your donation went in 2023/2024.

ظ PVM’s Resident Emergency Help Fund helped 90+ older adults with low and fixed incomes weather medical emergencies and financial hardship.

ظ A brand new state of the art wellness center was built at the Village of East Harbor in Chesterfield designed solely for the specific needs of older adults.

ظ A beautiful new dining and gathering lounge was constructed at the Village of Westland.

ظ Your donation constructed private telehealth care suites at 13 Villages, so residents don’t have to travel to the doctor’s office.

ظ These funds continue to help bring affordable healthcare and housing options to 1,200 older adults in Flint, Westland, Port Huron, and Pontiac.

It’s been so inspiring to see all of the ways your donation has made a difference in the lives of so many older adults for the past 18 years. Cheers to you our donors and to A NEW WAY TO AGE!

Enjoy your summer and thank you so much,
