A-Z Creativity has come about after 20+ years of learning to be creative. In high school, Keriann was always a good student who was very adept at doing what she was told. She could write the essay as it needed to be written for good marks and follow the steps of the lab. She could not, however, develop an original idea in art class: her ability to deviate from what was in front of her and be creative was lacking. This led Keriann to continue to challenge herself to be creative by choosing to take art classes and study to be an art educator.
Since then, Keriann has spent her adult life seeking out creativity in both formal and informal spaces. Formally, she has studied art education and creativity, majoring in Art Education in undergrad and going on to receive an MA in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a MS in Creativity & Change Leadership from Buffalo State College. Informally, she has pushed herself as an artist, taking workshops in experimental media and solving visual and technical problems in ceramics, digital media, and printmaking.
When it comes to teaching, Keriann has over a decade of experience working with individuals and groups globally to open their creativity, specializing in working with children. Keriann’s experience has qualified her to deliver intentional programming in demystifying and fostering the development of creative habits and life skills through arts programming. Keriann is passionate about creativity and looks forward to working with you to help bring creativity and creative practice into your life.

Painting is such a wonderful art form to be able to express our emotions. In this class we will begin with the basics of color theory and then focus on how to use acrylic and watercolor paint. I will have themes and guidelines for each class for the paintings, but will also allow them a lot of freedom with what they are painting. Painting is a true love of mine, and I hope to help your kids fall in love with painting too
Teacher Information
Karina grew up being the kid who was always drawing on the sides of her notes in school, and found a way to bring it with her into adulthood. Art and kids have always been her two favorite things. She has been a nanny for ten years, and always loves to make art with the kids she cares for. In 2018 she graduated from Academy of Art University where her focus was painting and illustration. Painting has always been her favorite way to create art. Finding a way to create a story or share an emotion through painting feels like a magic power! Her personal art is very figurative and color focused, and looks forward to teaching the beginning techniques that will help your child paint the stories they dream about.
Our 3rd-8th grade level class will be a bit more advanced and directed than painting for TK-2. I will teach them a bit deeper about color theory and start on the basics of rendering. We will have more specific guidelines for the projects, but there will still be freedom of expression. We will mostly be working in acrylic, and near the last few weeks of class also start working on canvas instead of paper. pn

Teaching Style: Liz has been teaching violin from beginner to advanced students for over 20 years. She has taken students from starting violin at age 5 to the top high school youth orchestras. Liz’s goal in teaching is to make music fun and inspiring. She is patient and gears her teaching to the student's learning style. Her mission is to provide a positive experience while instilling the fundamentals of music and technique of the instrument. She enjoys watching each student grow and develop at their own pace. Her favorite moment is when the “light bulb” goes off when the student discovers what they have been working towards. It could be in playing a song or realizing a positional technique. It's a unique shared feeling of accomplishment for both in the lesson.
Liz started playing violin at 9 years old and has never looked back. Liz is classically trained as a violinist. She played extensively in Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. One of her biggest and most exciting experiences as a musician was playing in the World’s Music Festival in Vienna, Austria with the Marin Youth Orchestra under the direction of Hugo Rinaldi. The orchhestra placed third in the world. Since then Liz has studied and performed in numerous genres including Celtic, Jazz, Rock, and American Fiddle. She has also added singing and acting to her resume of study and performance.
