teampunk is a subculture? We have all heard this before. By it’s nature and definition subculture denotes a small group or individuals that identify themselves outside of the norm. I am proud to be outside of the norm. If it wasn’t for originality of Steampunk, I would have probably been stuck in Ren Faires forever. Thankfully that period of my life is over. However, we need to make our voices heard and heard loudly. If it our subculture is to survive and thrive, Steampunk needs to be an honest alternative to Ren Faires, Pirate parties, SCA, and other like groups. Fortunately, for us the genre is growing. With cons, parties, balls, and more happening everywhere the once little subculture is standing on its own. Photographers, artists, makers, and even television producers have taken notice. There is so much out there to enjoy that it is amazing. And I feel we are only getting started. With that being said, we have an amazing issue for you this month. Some beautiful steampunk images, a holiday shopping guide, and everything you have come to expect from Ladies of Steampunk. Sit back and enjoy… Oh, and take two and call me in the morning. hope you have a hearty appetite, dear readers, because this issue is indeed a feast for the senses. Sadly, our regular contributors, Muffy Morrigan and Captain Isabella, are both on a brief hiatus, so their stories shall not be featured. Rest assured, they will return, and I have it on good authority that Ms. Morrigan has something new (and naughty) in the works for December’s BRONZE AGE. Gracing our cover once again is the vivacious Vivid Vivka. Photographer Steven Prue has truly captured some amazing images here. Sorry, but you’ll need to grab a copy of February’s issue for the more revealing set. Returning to our pages as well is the charming Masha Masquerade, whom you’ve met just a few months ago. These ladies certainly left an impression, and it’s a true pleasure to have them back. The afore mentioned absence of our authors left some space open to present an array of beauties from across the globe, making their very first appearance in our publication. With luck, we’ll be seeing more of them in the future. With the holidays approaching soon, now is the time to beat the ensuing mayhem with Madame Von Frisque’s shopping guide, part of this month’s Gentleman’s Corner. There, you’ll find an array of items “for the gent and villain alike”, from games to fancy attire and other accoutrements. And with that, I leave you to your devices... Regards, Dr. Carswell
