Editorial As most of you already know, a devastating fire destroyed the Sydney office of The Australian Ceramics Association on 31 May 2015. Your messages of support and your generous donations are much appreciated by TACA committee and staff, and have provided much personal comfort to me. We have been busy with insurance assessments, the removal of salvageable equipment, paperwork and archive material, organising phone diversions, computer and eftpos machine replacements, and loads more. The search for alternative office space has been on hold due to the immediate need to publish this issue of The Journal of Australian Ceramics for the Australian Ceramics Triennale: Stepping Up. The challenges provided by the fire (setting up in a temporary space with a new computer along with severe time constraints) along with a brand spanking new website with teething problems has meant this issue is even more special for me. We were halfway through layout when the fire occurred, so I want to thank everyone who has assisted me to make this happen, with special mention to Astrid Wehling, Suzanne Dean and Rachael Rigg. It will take us sometime to get back to full strength so please be patient as we restore our services to full capacity! I hope to find it an exciting time as we establish a new office and settle in to once again connect, promote and engage with the Australian studio ceramics community. ... and don’t forget to check out our beautiful new website, www.australianceramics.com. I hope to meet you in Canberra during the Triennale. Please pop in to the Trade area and say Hi! Regards,
TACA was adequately covered by contents insurance, which will be a great help as we refit our new office (wherever that may be) with computers, desks, office equipment, stationary and all the bits and pieces that go towards re-establishing our membership services and Journal publication. However, not covered is the cost of the interruption to our small business: the office moving and re-establishment costs and the recreation of our archive. Many have asked how they can help, so here’s one option … make a donation to The Australian Ceramics Association Emergency Fund.
