The c orn is cut, the grain is stored and in the sleeping Ear th are whispers of the c oming Spr ing, and glor ious rebir th. The c orn is cut, the grain is stored against the Autumn rain but with the seasons' quickening, they shall be born again. The Reaper 's scy the c an cut them down but on the Har vest 's breath, the joy ful susurration sighs that life is born of death... So seeds of life are bor n today as c or n is gathered in, for ever y seed of golden grain will grow another Spring. Death in life and life in death, the joy ful news proclaim: that from the scy the that ushers death, Life will c ome again. The c orn is cut, the grain is stored and in the sleeping Ear th are whispers of the c oming Spr ing, and glor ious rebir th.

Dear Reader

We’re not sure whether it’s something genetic or perhaps just typical female but why do many of us just love stocking up on food? It’s just so cozy...getting the ingredients together, preparing and using them. Cooking, pickling, baking and making juice. Pouring it all into nice bottles and cute pickle jars. Adding adorable, small labels and keeping our treasures for cold winter days. Oh, how we just love it! My favorite Sunday pastime is when my daughter and I spend the entire day in the kitchen preparing food, chatting away and enjoying each other ’s company. It’s a true pleasure to gather the rest of the family around the table and serve our goodies, or bring a few jars to work or to our old parents’ place. It’s just indescribable. Unfortunately, these days we don’t have the time to be self-sufficient with most things like when the children were young and I was a housewife. Still, it’s better than nothing. In this edition of the magazine, we’re offering you lots of recipes and ideas for stocking up in time for winter. If you’re not into such everyday activities, you’ll be happy to find lots of articles on creative DYI projects, and we’ve included something for everyone. Our wonderful boxes are easy to make and we’ve also included a fantastic article on how to go crazy with shades of blue paint to create a fabulous result. As always, we’re visiting some wonderful, romantic homes and lovely gardens. Autumn and winter are just around the corner here in Denmark so we’ve got to enjoy the very last days of summer. We are, however, also looking forward to retiring to our caves and doing other things indoors. That’s the best thing about the seasons: here at the editorial office, the expectations of the upcoming months are always high because lots of new challenges are waiting for us.

Lonnie & Vivian

We wish you lots of fun with the first autumn edition this year!

This house was constructed in 1959 and has been inhabited by several generations since then. Stephanie and her family took over part of the house 12 years ago.

Stephanie loves all her brocanteries and has a particularly soft spot for ballet dresses. In fact, she’s got an entire clothes rack full of beautiful dresses that she displays as a decorative item. Her dresses would make any girl go weak in the knees.

Idea s

This large shelf is home to lots of books and magazines that have been sorted according to color to create a calm impression. This is a nice way of organizing your books because otherwise such a shelf might look way too dominant in the living room.

The small stool by the armchair looks so nice with its tiny, turned legs. You can add new life to your old, upholstered furniture by stripping it. Check for nice fabrics underneath the top layer in a corner of the furniture. Furniture with old linen or burlap underneath the top layer – like on this little stool – looks particularly nice.

Idea s

The house has a nice stone wall which the family has chosen to preserve to add a rustic element to all the feminine items in the living room. If you’ve got a rustic wall, such as a wall made of old bricks or rustic boards, consider keeping it.

An old suitcase can add a dash of color to your interior design just like this one below the window. Although it ’s much darker than the other things next to it, it fits the interior nicely and provides a rustic contrast. Another good thing about all types of suitcases is that they are great for storage. In this living room, they are used for DVDs, games and other things that don’t look so nice in such a beautiful living room.

You should always be on the lookout for shelves with compartments because they are marvelous for storing and displaying nice bits and pieces. Many of these shelves were used for storing tools or similar items in workshops and similar establishments.
