rankworx is one of our favourite events. While its core is the multitude of races is offers for both racers and spectators, there is also a social side to the event. It’s a chance to meet up with other friends in the bike industry as we all descend on Whistler Village. Normally we roll into Whistler on the Wednesday in the middle of the event, when the vendor booths and demo trucks are in full swing in anticipation of the big event—The Redbull Joyride. This year, Crankworx was held a week later than normal; we wanted to include a special feature on the women so we delayed the publish date of this issue to make that happen. We also enlisted the help of Cecile Gambin to help capture the week in photos. She was there from the beginning and managed to catch the events we had missed in previous years. Cecile also managed to catch up with Leigh Donovan, who she had met back in her racing years on the downhill circuit. While Leigh no longer actively races, she’s still very much involved in the bike industry. You can find out more in her interview on page 34. We also welcome the addition of a new column by Dr Robyn Prescott, ND. She focuses on restoring and maintaining range of motion in her practice as a Naturopathic Physician in North Vancouver, BC. Her first article is on how to prevent bladder infections while in the saddle. It can be found on page 16.
