Dear Reader
Where we are, it’s still winter: February is the last winter month and usually also the coldest month with lots of snow and frost. The number of hours in the dark still outweighs the number of daylight hours. Still, many of us are starting to feel the tingling sensation of spring being just around the corner and we’ve got plenty of time to start planning this year ’s outdoor projects. To us, planning our projects makes us just as happy as actually doing them: looking through books, magazines and the Internet for inspiration; making drawings and lists of things to do and find. If you’re planning a cozy corner in the garden, you can easily start searching for materials and furniture now. Perhaps some of it needs painting or restoration, and these are cozy tasks that you can do indoors. If you don’t have any such extensive plans, it might be a good time to spring clean your home and move a few things around. Sorting through your things and placing a few items in storage for a while has a great effect. You can also paint a wall or move a sofa. In this edition of the magazine, join us in finding out how a living room can change completely although it’s still the same room. And...if you’re simply longing for spring, go searching for nice spring plants in the stores or perhaps find some branches in the garden. We’re showing you lots of wonderful spring pictures that’ll hopefully inspire you to get out your spring mood and the joy of anticipation. Enjoy reading!

Special collections
To Kenneth, who lives in this marvelous house together with her husband Henk and their two children, special collections have turned into a big passion. She loves to furnish the family home and not least visit brocante fairs and flea markets, hoping to find the perfect item to supplement her beautiful collections. She’s very patient and is happy to wait for the right item. Kenneth has a particularly soft spot for antique dolls without heads and they ’re exhibited in groups in several places round the house. Many of Kenneth’s 7
beautiful treasures have been quite expensive but because she’s so patient and only buys items that are absolutely perfect for her, she doesn’t shop that often. Instead, she saves money every month so that she’s got the money to spare whenever she finds something suitable. She doesn’t only shop for her collections: if she finds a special item or piece of furniture, she also spends money on that. Once, it was this absolutely fantastic girandole that ’s standing on a small stool in the living room. Another time, she bought the two 8
