Dear Reader

This year, April is devoted to Easter and in this edition, we’re offering you lots of news ideas for exciting Easter decoration items that you can make yourself. We’ve included something for everyone and it’s all something you can make no matter how extensive your creative talents are. If you’re not used to making your own Easter decoration items, we definitely recommend that you try it out. Being creative is very cozy and relaxing, and anybody can join in. You can even ask family and friends to join you at the table and make a cozy Easter get-together out of it, decorating and dyeing your Easter eggs. Perhaps you’d like to go for a walk in the forest first to collect some natural materials that can turn into some nice, decorative things. Prepare some nice food and consider reintroducing one of the old Easter games to set up a cozy tradition. Everybody will love it and look forward to the Easter get-together next year. No doubt about it. If you’re not really into Easter, you’ll still find lots of inspiration in this edition for home interior design and other creative DIY items. Amongst other things, Rikke and Rikke have been painting stencils onto fabric, and they’ve created some really nice things. And Lonnie has found some wonderful motifs in true brocante style with lots of beautiful spring colors.

We wish you Happy Easter, and enjoy reading!

We’re visiting Michèle and Imanuel in Switzerland. Their home is furnished with robust things and most of them have their original patina. Still, there’s also enough space for several nice arrangements with lots of marvelous French treasures.

Idea:

If you make arrangements with lots of items – just like this couple has done it – it ’s important that the items either have a shared expression or that there’s a red thread in the color combination. If not, you’re running the risk of your beauties just looking a mess. In the picture above, the shelf is home to many different things – no collections of any one item, just different things – so Michèle has chosen to use one specific color to create coherence. The beautiful, blue-gray color of the shelf is the starting point and this color is also found in the dried hydrangea, in the framed butterflies, on the molding, on the box and on the siphon bottle. The arrangement looks beautiful and calm. The couple loves old things – preferably with a twist. The old bird has been given pride of place and is nicely decorated with collar and crown. 7

Ideas:

Don’t get rid of your hydrangea heads once they’ve withered in autumn because they look fantastic round your home. Hang them to dry or tie a few wreaths with them, just like Michèle has done. Most of them will lose their color over time but that doesn’t matter because they’ll end up with the most amazing shades of light-brown, beige and cream. Fading beauty at its best. If you’ve got a big display cabinet like this one or a different cupboard with glass doors, you already know that it looks best if everything inside the cupboard is nice and tidy. You can also place some fabric or paper on the glass doors. This looks nice and whereas you can still see that the cupboard is full of treasures, you don’t have to keep everything in meticulous order in the cupboard. The pattern on these doors is original but you can also buy fabric and foils that ’ll add a similar effect.
