NOVEMBER When the light disappears and darkness closes in When the tiger is c old and always hungr y When winter c omes and hope is gone Good things will happen to keep us all warm Good things are good when they don’t need at tention But the beggar knows where warmth c omes from And people need a hero to c elebrate But the soldier is humble and hides himself He tries to hide behind bor rowed plumes And people without wings don’t see him at all But the geese c aw about the angel lying in wait They ’ll never forget Saint Mar tin of Tours

Dear Reader
Finally November! Time to really get going on the Christmas preparations and start decorating the house. At our place, the whole month of November is reserved for cozy Christmas preparation activities: we bring out our boxes of Christmas decoration items, we produce new ones, we make plans and organize shopping trips to bring home the first Christmas presents. We also go for walks in the forest to find greenery for our decorations such as moss and we’ve included a whole article on moss in this edition of the magazine. We use moss both indoors and outdoors. Take the entire family along to the forest and enjoy a nice winter picnic at the same time, and if you’re lucky enough to have snow, you can go sledding too – what a marvelous day! In the homes that we visit this time, you’ll find plenty of inspiration on discreet and simple Christmas decoration items for November. We like things to be simple in November but the closer we get to Christmas, the more we go all-in with our decorating ideas. We’re particularly keen on the first couple of articles where homes have been decorated with homemade stars and mistletoe. We hope that you feel the same and wish you lots of fun preparing for Christmas this year. Remember to enjoy it all! And don’t forget: we’ll be publishing a beautiful Christmas edition of the magazine on December 1st.

Here at Mea’s and Thomas’ place in Hamburg, Germany, you’ll find a very special fairy tale feel round Christmas. Join us in their home and get inspired to create your very own fairy tale this year. Actually, it doesn’t take much to create this unique atmosphere but it does require a special talent to make all the individual items create a synergy that makes you believe that you’re in the middle of a fairy tale. Prism chandeliers and light colors create a feeling of airiness, and if you add lots of candles, some rustic branches and lots of stars with glitter, you’ve got the perfect recipe for the special Christmas feel in this home. Obviously, you need the right setting for such an atmosphere. Mea, Thomas and their two children live in the Eppendorf district. This area used to be a 7
hippie neighborhood but as people become more and more keen on originality and authenticity, the area is becoming more and more popular. The family has owned the apartment for 15 years. When they bought it, it had been renovated in a very modern style but over the years, the couple has returned it to its former glory to make it fit the family style.
Idea: The entire apartment is held in shades of white and delicate gray. The stucco and other elements such as the French fireplace and the wings above it have been patinated in darker shades of gray that contribute to creating the perfect fairy tale feel. In a corner of the bedroom, Mea has set up a small creative oasis. This room is calm and offers lots of space for thoughts, ideas and creativity. 8
