Hi…! Dr. Tom, here…You got a minute…? Hmmm… “Sweet Summer Sweat…” What’s the next line…? “Some dance to remember, some dance to forget…” Well, here we are… Five months into the New Year… Time for a bit of self-reflection and review. Just a few words about future offerings in Muscle Media Magazine. My e-mail box has been full of requests asking about some of the recent articles, workouts, training schedules, supplements, and stories of personal success. (YES, please, keep them coming!) After reading through some of them, we have decided to add some special sections to the magazine (as well as to the Muscle Media Website). Professionally I have always believed in the saying “Form Follows Function”. We are not only committed to listening to our readers, but we want to actively respond to your requests. We will be including segments known as “Supplement Snap-Shots” in every issue. These will be short and to-the-point articles about substances to help you reach your training goals. The “Snap-Shots” will identify the substance, tell you what it does (and what it doesn’t do…), and some of the latest research. We will also try to identify the place each substance occupies in the “metabolic stream”, telling you why it is important. (I spend a great deal of time laboring through Research Journals at the University, and it is not easy reading. While certainly informative, you need to “speak the language”.) Rather than getting bogged down in neurology, physiology or biochemistry lessons, these articles will be written to be understood and used… We will be including articles about nutrition and recipes that will match the season (and appeal to your taste buds!) Also, personal success stories will be featured celebrating those who dared and won. Some of the most interesting & intriguing Letters-To-The-Editor will be answered. I will also keep you updated on my efforts to work through a rotator cuff tear (acupuncture & Tui Na Massage now, but arthroscopic surgery is imminent…) Keep reading each & every issue to stay in touch with the expanding scope of Muscle Media Magazine.
