Dear Reader

Very often, a new year brings a new beginning or changes of some kind. That’s also the way it is here at the magazine and this year, we’ll be seeing more changes than usual. Amongst other things, we’re going to offer you several new article series, including a tasty menu article in each edition that’ll be based on the selection of seasonal ingredients here in Denmark. We’ll lay a nice table and give you some tips about suitable drinks, too. Now and again, we’ll take you along on an exciting trip to destinations in Denmark and other places throughout Europe, and we’ll tell you all about how we planned the tour and give you ideas for wonderful accommodation, great eateries and stores, local attractions and flea markets. Soon, our articles on the aesthetic kitchen garden will take off and you’ll be able to watch it develop from the very beginning: how we’ve planned it, how it develops throughout the year. And of course, the kitchen garden will be kept in the usual, cozy Jeanne d´Arc Living style. In addition, we’ll be taking some fantastic photos to inspire you on how to combine our collection of clothes. In 2018, we’ll also inspire you to add a bit more of a twist to the style and we’ll be going “back to basics” with the wonderful, authentic, rawer and simple French-Nordic country style that we started out with – but now with a hint of romance. This style speaks to a broad audience and fits nicely to the current trends. Here, we’d like to show you how to combine the items that you love in new ways – perhaps by adding a few new things. Most of us don’t really want to exchange our entire wardrobe just because the fashion changes. The article series ”Basic Colours” will show you the way. Happy new year and enjoy reading!

ROUGH STYLE IN AN OLD HOUSE

SANDRA AND HARALD WENT TO AN OPEN INSPEC TION EVENT AT THIS FARM WHEN IT WAS UP FOR SALE BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO FIND OUT IF THEY LIKED IT. MORE THAN 30 PEOPLE HAD TURNED UP AND EVERYBODY WAS BUSY KNOCKING ON WALLS, CHECKING WINDOWS AND LOOKING FOR POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. AND IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL, SANDRA JUST SAT THERE WITH A STRONG FEELING THAT THIS WAS WHERE THEY WERE GOING TO LIVE THIS WAS WHERE SHE WANTED TO SPEND HER LIFE. MANY PEOPLE WERE INTERESTED IN BUYING THE FARM SO THE COUPLE HAD TO PRESENT AN OFFER STRAIGHT AWAY. IT TOOK TWO LONG WEEKS UNTIL THEY RECEIVED AN ANSWER: THEY WERE THE NEW OWNERS OF THE FARM THEIR DREAM HOME. THE COUPLE HAS ALWAYS ENJOYED VISITING MARKETS BUT EVER SINCE THEY BOUGHT THE 7

FARM, THEY GO EVEN MORE OFTEN. THEY’VE BEEN TRUE TO THE HOUSE AND FURNISHED IT IN A ROUGH AND RUSTIC STYLE THAT CREATES A BEAUTIFUL COHERENCE IN THIS HOME.

IDEAS: THE WALLS HAVE BEEN PLASTERED TO CREATE A ”RAW” LOOK AND ESTABLISH A BEAUTIFUL BACKDROP

FURNITURE. WARM WOOD AND RAW CONCRETE IS A MARVELOUS MATCH. THE CEILINGS WITH THE RAW WOOD AND THE EXPOSED BEAMS MAKE YOU THINK OF AN OLD, FRENCH FARM HOUSE ALTHOUGH WE’RE AC TUALLY IN THE NETHERLANDS. IF YOU LIVE IN AN OLD HOUSE AND HAVE SIMILAR CEILINGS, CONSIDER IT CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU COVER THEM UP WITH PLASTER OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. 8
