A Great Awokening
• Tide of culture war turning against “wokeness” By John Friend

everal developing news stories are offering most rational Americans a healthy dose of much-needed hope and optimism. The intolerant reign of “wokeness,” the popular notion that everything about America from its very founding is evil and all issues must be viewed through the lens of race and “systemic oppression,” is facing major pushback. First, Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s “woke” Democratic mayor and the Windy City’s first gay black woman to hold that office, was soundly defeated in the recent mayoral primary. Lightfoot’s first and only term as mayor was marred by outrageous levels of crime and violence, a stifling and tyrannical response to the Covid19 pandemic, civil unrest, and constant conflict with the public transit agency, various members of the City Council and other elected officials. Lightfoot, a darling of the far-left radicals hellbent on destroying America in the name of fighting “white supremacy” and “injustice,” barely received 17% of the total vote count, as the top two Democratic challengers— who will compete in an April 4 runoff—received nearly 34% and 20% respectively. ceived the most votes of any candidate, focused his popular campaign on law and order—a stark contrast to the increasingly disconnected and delusional “woke” messaging of fellow Democrats like Lightfoot. Demonstrating a sharp break from Lightfoot and Kim Foxx, her scandalplagued, Soros-backed district attorney, Valles vowed that his administration would “have zero tolerance when it comes to violating the law or violating the Constitution.”
Meanwhile, the Kansas Senate passed a bill that defines a “woman” as a biological female for legal purposes within the state, a commonsense measure designed to combat the gender insanity consuming America’s public schools and universities, including their bathrooms, locker rooms, and athletic fields. In addition, Tennessee has passed a bill to criminalize “anyone who hosts or performs in a drag show in the presence of children,” a move to halt the sexualization of children that has become common in leftist circles. On the social and environmental justice front, activists with the National Justice Party have held two successful demonstrations, one in front of the governor’s mansion in Ohio, demanding the resignation of GOP Gov. Mike DeWine for his bungling of the train derailment in East Palestine in early February. A second demonstration took place simultaneously at the Atlanta headquarters of railway company Norfolk Southern, which has done little to help the local residents following the derailment and subsequent environmental catastrophe. The rallies drew much-needed national media coverage and attention to the plight of working-class Americans across the nation. As the Biden administration pledges even more money to Ukraine, Americans are souring on that front, too. Last December, polls indicated a majority of Americans supported funding the war, but a recent survey from PBS showed that, today, only 37% back handing billions to Ukraine to continue the needless bloodshed. The American public is “awokening” to the neo-Bolshevik “woke” agenda at home and the endless warmongering and foreign interference abroad, and that is great news. ★

Could a Functionally Illiterate Pooch Get Better Results?
A
bout 10 years ago, I adopted an Australian cattle dog. Rosie was slated for a trip to the gas chamber because nobody wanted her; too much work. Cattle dogs, as some of you know, can be quite a handful. But I saw some potential there, and she took a shine to me, so I took a chance on her. Like most cattle dogs, she is stubborn, so I took her to a local pet store for training. She passed with flying colors. She could sit, lie down, stay and speak (in dog language). She got her doggie diploma with a big gold seal. But one thing she never could learn to do was speak in English or perform basic mathematical functions, though she does know the difference between one squirrel and two. In short, she knows about as much math and English as some kids attending public school in the U.S. (See pages 12-13.) Sadly, in some school districts in America, exactly 0% of students are proficient in English and mathematics, just like Rosie. And, even with her limited English and math skills, if Rosie replaced the teachers in those schools, she, too, could expect to see 0% of her students graduating with a proficiency in English and math. In short, my dog could do as good a job as some inner city schools are doing teaching students, and Rosie doesn’t require a minimum wage. Some school districts could save a lot of money having dogs teach English and math and end up with the same results. It’s sad, but true. So what is going on here? How come so many kids in America are failing so badly? Honestly, it can’t all be the
fault of the teachers. The vast majority are hardworking, caring and nurturing people who went into the profession of teaching because they love it, and they love kids, too. In the suburbs, things are a little better, but the statistics say that, even in a better environment, way too many American kids are doing miserably. According to the website “Public School Review,” the U.S. national proficiency average for math is 38%. The state or territory of the United States with the highest math proficiency rate is actually the U.S. Virgin Islands, with a score of 85%. In the 50 states, Maine and Iowa have the highest math proficiency with 81% and 64%. respectively. The lowest math proficiency ranking is, surprisingly, the state of Maryland, with an overall rate of 19%. That percentage is brought down dramatically by the abysmal scores in Baltimore City, with some school districts boasting a 0% math proficiency. As far as reading and English go, it’s a little better. Again, according to “Public School Review,” the national average for reading/language arts proficiency in the United States is 46%. Maine again gets a good score, as it did in mathematics, with a proficiency ranking of 85%, while Oklahoma is down at the bottom with a reading proficiency of just 25%. In other words, about half of high school graduates would find it hard to read this column. In Virginia, 71% of kids demonstrate a proficiency in reading/English, Iowa comes in at 68%, and New York at 63%. The rest of the states lag far behind— except the U.S. Virgin Islands at 64%.
As most of the students in the U.S. Virgin Islands are black (76%), one has to wonder why their mainland counterparts are doing so poorly. Obviously there is a difference in something— culture, environment, diet, school administration—something. Most likely it’s that “woke” liberals haven’t gotten their hands on Virgin Islands schools yet. Ever since liberals gained control of public schools in America, test scores for blacks have continually dropped—lower than at any point since the Jim Crow era when they actually received a decent education in allblack schools and black families boasted a lower divorce rate than whites. As for their “brown” counterparts, students whose families came from India are thriving, as are Asian children. This pretty much makes the point that the problem may not be within the schools themselves. Many Hispanic kids in America are not doing so well, either. But a large percentage of them have an excuse: They didn’t speak English when they got here and many may have attended inferior (or no) schools, depending on which part of Latin America they hail from. The problem with that excuse is that many Asian students arrive with no more knowledge of English than do Hispanics, yet they seem to thrive. So there is much more going on here to explain the failure of U.S. school kids than simply country of origin, school district, race, environment, the skills of teachers, banishing God from schools, IQ, etc, etc. I mean, you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to graduate from the U.S. public school system with a basic
proficiency in math and English these days. The resources available to all students are significant enough for us to believe that U.S. school kids should be proficient in math and English at a 60% rate at least—an average “D” grade. And money isn’t the answer, either, as those Baltimore City schools I mentioned doing so poorly spend more per student than almost any other school system in America. I don’t have the answer. All I know is that the U.S. public school system has been failing for a variety of reasons that seem to have coalesced in a perfect storm of utter failure. And blaming all this on the Covid lockdowns isn’t fair. The test scores of U.S. school children have been dropping for decades. The lockdowns only made things worse. So what is the answer? Charter schools? Homeschooling? Church schools? More familial participation? Higher expectations? Better teachers? Concentration on the old basic skills and less on gender identification? Social media and cell phone restriction? Whatever it is, we better get the problem fixed, or America will continue to devolve into a nation of semi-illiterates who can’t perform basic mathematical functions. And that bodes very poorly for the future of this nation, which is going to be relying on these young people to solve the problems our politicians are unable or unwilling to tackle. Sorry, but Rosie can’t teach math and solve all those problems, too. ★

News You May Have Missed The U.S. Department of Energy has concluded that the most likely origin of Covid-19 is a lab leak. The federal agency announced that officials had reviewed “new intelligence,” which prompted the reversal in their initial position that it’s unclear how the virus emerged. The White House and certain members of Congress also reviewed the intelligence, The Wall Street Journal reports. The FBI previously concluded with “moderate confidence” that intelligence pointed to a lab leak origin. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently told Congress that he, too, believes the virus leaked from a research lab in Wuhan in northern China.
On Feb. 20, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) made good on his threat that he would release all the video footage of the Jan. 6 riot to the media, turning over 40,000 hours to Fox New commentator Tucker Carlson and his crew. Carlson said he is already reviewing the video and will report on it soon in detail. Multiple media outlets reported that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) threw a tantrum shortly after the announcement.

Only 10% of adults surveyed said that minors should be able to access these interventions without parental consent. Another 25% said that parental consent should be required, while 60% said minors should never be subject to hormonal or surgical interventions in this context. Liberal states across the U.S. have been trying to enact laws that allow confused and troubled kids to get dangerous drugs and surgeries even if their parents oppose it. So far, only California has passed these types of laws.

A Feb. 13 Rasmussen survey asked over 1,000 people whether they agree with the statement, “It’s okay to be white.” Most respondents said, “Yes,” but 26% of black respondents don’t believe it’s okay—a shocking statistic that the mainstream media refuses to acknowledge.
In that same poll, Rasmussen asked if people agreed or disagreed with the statement, “Black people can be racist, too.” According to the polling firm, 79% agreed, including 66% of blacks.
On Feb. 18, the UK publisher of famed author Roald Dahl’s 16 books announced that his books had been turned over to “sensitivity readers” so they could rewrite them to remove language that they deem to be offensive. On the chopping block was Dahl’s famous book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. One of the main characters, Augustus Gloop, would now be “enormous” instead of “fat.” Mrs. Twit would no longer be described as “ugly,” and the Oompa Loompas would be “gender neutral.” Following a backlash, Penguin, which owns the rights to Dahl’s books in the U.S., would continue to publish his work with no changes.

On Feb. 15, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced a bill that would extend the statute of limitations for lawsuits against individuals and entities responsible for child sex changes that harm the mental or physical health of patients. The legislation would hold medical professionals and clinics liable for damages until 30 years after a patient turns 18. Robert Weisenburger is an attorney at LiMandri and Jonna LLP. He is currently representing an 18-year-old woman, who underwent multiple sex-change surgeries at 13 and 15. Weisenburger told news and commentary website “The Daily Caller” that he has been approached by at least a dozen young men and women, who would like to sue their doctors for medical malpractice but cannot because time has run out for them.
For over a year now, New York magazine has been cataloging all the lies told by Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.). So far, they total about 20—and that’s just the big, obvious ones. Santos’s lies include: his mother was not a Holocaust survivor; she did not die on 9/11; he is not Jewish; there never was an assassination attempt on him; he never worked on Wall Street; he did scam a veteran over the man’s dog; he was a drag queen in Brazil; he never graduated college; and he didn’t play volleyball on a university scholarship. Despite all his lies, Santos is still a Republican legislator in Congress. Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio) was expelled from the House for having a party where staffers painted his houseboat.

On the Verge of Collapse South Africa is on the verge of collapse amid rolling blackouts and warnings that a total power grid failure could lead to mass rioting on the scale of a “civil war,” report multiple news agencies. Western embassies, including the United States and Australia, have advised their citizens in the country to stock up on several days of food and water and be on high alert during extended blackouts sweeping the country. On Feb. 9, South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a
“state of disaster” in response to the electricity shortages, which have caused state-owned power company Eskom to institute rolling blackouts lasting up to 12 hours in some cases.

U.S. Life Expectancy Today, Americans have significantly worse health outcomes and life expectancies than residents of Western Europe or rich Asian countries. Life expectancy in the U.S. is so bad today that the appropriate comparison class is a set of much poorer countries like Chile and Poland, countries that are richer than the world average but aren’t even close to the top tier. While citizens of Japan, Italy, France, Canada, Germany, and the UK all have a life expectancy of greater than 81 years old, U.S. citizens’ life expectancy is only 78 years—and is trending down.

Normalizing Pedophilia According to a new report from media outlet “Scottish Daily Express,” academics in the UK are “reforming” language around pedophilia. These activists say they prefer the terms “hebephile” for someone who is interested in 11-to-14-year-olds and “ephebophile” for post-pubescent young people aged 15 to 19. A pedophile is only someone with a sexual interest in pre-pubescent children. The new push is part of an effort to normalize pedophiles as “minor-attracted persons.” Why?
Racial Slurs About Whites Okay It’s been weeks since a student at Auburn University leaked a document made by members of the Auburn University Black Student Union that compiled a list of over 250 racial slurs for white people. Titled “Creaker Names,” the document contained page after page of racial slurs. “It goes without saying that if the roles were reversed, and this was a group of white students jokingly sharing racial slurs about black students, this would be a national news story,” wrote Anthony Watson for watchdog group Turning Points USA. So far, not one person has been disciplined for the list.

Biden Green Lights Israel to Attack Iran
• U.S. envoy says Israel “can do whatever they need” when it comes to Iran By Richard Walker

enjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s hawkish prime minister who leads the most far-right government in his nation’s history, appears to have been given the green light by the Biden administration to attack Iran when he sees fit. This is what Netanyahu has demanded of Washington for years and now that he has entered his sixth term as the chief Israeli leader, he may well act on what could be a defining moment in the history in the Middle East—and the world. But, if Netanyahu and his far-right cabinet believe that this is the same Iran of some years ago and it will be a pushover, they are in for a shock. There are now other players in the mix, and they include Russia and China, which have become Iran’s closest allies. Russia, in particular, has a larger military imprint in the region than ever before and Iran’s support for Russia’s war in Ukraine has drawn the two countries closer together. Another factor that may give Israel pause for thought is the fact that a war with Iran might not be well received in Congress or by the American people, especially at a time when there is growing conflict in Europe, and the real possibility of the U.S. being drawn into a confrontation with China in the Pacific. Nonetheless, the Biden adminis-
tration appears to have fallen into the trap that all previous U.S. presidencies have of allowing Zionist elements in Congress and its own advisors to bend to pressure from Tel Aviv. U.S. envoys to Israel are as a rule committed Zionists, so it is predictable that they will respond favorably to anything Israeli leaders like Netanyahu request. President Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner bowed to every demand from Netanyahu and still offered him more. Now, at a time when events are on a knife’s edge in Europe and Asia, Netanyahu has been told that he can do as he sees fit and America will have his back. This reckless decision to support an Israeli leader whose reputation is that of a warmonger is made even more outrageous by the fact that this assurance has been stated without clarification. Tom Nides, the U.S. envoy to Israel, made this clear at an event in Jerusalem on Feb. 19. He said that Joe Biden will not let Iran have a nuclear weapon and that “all options are on the table.” It was what Nides said next that was especially shocking. “Israel can and should do whatever it needs to deal with [Iran] and we’ve got their back,” Nides declared. “The cooperation between the U.S. and Israel vis-à-vis Iran is in lockstep.” And to demonstrate how little Washington cared about the Palestinians, Nides, a professed Zionist, in
a podcast with David Axelrod, a former Obama adviser, said that Palestinians “don’t need rights. They just need money.” He was not talking about massive sums of money like the $3.3 billion in American taxpayer dollars the Israeli military gets annually from Washington. He also complained that Israel was losing support on campuses across America. The online Jewish publication “Mondoweiss” was appalled by Nides and Axelrod. This was the reaction by its chief writer, Philip Weiss: “I don’t think you can get a better demonstration of the narcissistic role of the Israel lobby than the Axelrod-Nides exchange. He really is just a pro-Israel hack, but so is Axelrod.” The greenlight from Nides and Biden comes at a time when many Palestinians are being killed by the Israeli military, yet Netanyahu’s focus remains fixed on Iran. He has continued, much to Russia’s anger, to bomb targets in Syria and in Iran. The Iranians responded recently by using drones to attack an oil tanker owned by one of Israel’s richest men. It is also clear that Iran is no longer fixated on pleasing Washington and its allies in respect to the frozen nuclear deal. The Iranians believe that now Netanyahu is back in power the nuclear deal is dead. An Eastern European diplomat familiar with Russian policy makers agreed to provide this writer with this off-the record analysis of the Kremlin’s

thinking: “Relations with Israel are at their worst for some time. It has been made clear to Tel Aviv that it would be inadvisable to go to war with Iran. The Kremlin leadership believes that Biden is pretending to give Netanyahu what he wants in the hope he might get on board the NATO train to Kiev but it is a dangerous gamble. Netanyahu is unpredictable.” Israel is, however, secretly concerned that, since the UN arms embargo on Iran expired in 2020, Iran has been upgrading its arsenal by buying modern weapons from Russia, China, and other nations. Now there is every possibility that Iran will purchase more advanced fighter jets and advanced air defense systems. In fact, there is nothing to stand in the way of countries selling to Iran. And, with the nuclear pact in deep freeze, the likelihood is that Tehran will proceed with its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile development programs. Iran has become so bullish that its leaders have already declared that they do not need anyone’s permission to further their ties with Russia. There is now a defense partnership developing between Tehran, Moscow, and Beijing that has also drawn concern from the CIA. It proves that the Iran Netanyahu dealt with when he was previously in office is now a better armed opponent with more powerful allies. ★

Antiwar Movement is Roaring Back to Life By Dr. Ron Paul

n Feb. 19, the National Mall in Washington, D.C. saw its largest antiwar rally in 20 years. The speakers list included four former U.S. presidential candidates and a broad and diverse collection of antiwar activists from beyond the left and right. The aptly-named “Rage Against the War Machine” rally drew thousands of attendees, however many pro-war advocates eagerly pointed out that it did not match in size some of the larger rallies against the Iraq war several decades ago. To that I say, “who cares”? The U.S. mainstream media engages in war propaganda non-stop, with the only exception being Tucker Carlson of Fox News. So, I think it’s a miracle anyone had the courage to travel to the heart of the war machine in Washington, D.C. to make their voices heard! We don’t need a majority to fight back—an educated and dedicated minority will do quite nicely. And we certainly had that at the rally. As I sat in the green room waiting
to speak, I had the opportunity to visit with former Democrat presidential candidates Tulsi Gabbard and Dennis Kucinich and former Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Political commentators Jimmy Dore and Chris Hedges were there, along with many leading and well-spoken libertarians.
Everyone backstage carried the same message: We must put aside our differences to build a new, broad coalition against this war! I believe the antiwar movement is starting to catch fire both at home and overseas. The D.C. rally was followed by much larger antiwar rallies in Paris, Berlin, London, and elsewhere. Several recent polls, including by Pew and AP, show that American support for Ukraine is evaporating. Even in the European Union, new polls show a public turning sharply against their governments’ support for the war. According to a recent Ipsos poll, less than half of Germans support continuing to send weapons to Ukraine. Change is in the air. The D.C. rally took place in the backdrop of Seymour Hersh’s explosive investigative report demonstrating how the U.S. government blew up the Nord Stream pipelines and the mainstream media’s desperate attempt to cover it up. The truth is coming out, and it’s even uglier than we imagined. The U.S. mainstream media is clearly getting nervous that its control over the narrative is also evaporating. How do we know they’re nervous?
They have turned up their lies and slanders of antiwar rallies and voices. Rachel Maddow, who fed America a steady stream of “Russiagate” lies for the past six or so years, let loose with a slanderous blue streak about the Rage Against the War Machine rally. Literally everything Maddow said in her post-rally rant was objectively false and her mischaracterization of rally participants as “weird” was devious. She falsely claimed that the rally was full of “white supremacists,” “Proud Boys,” and “anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists.” No one who was at the rally would have had any idea what she was talking about. But her job was not to describe the rally, it was to defame it. What does Maddow’s hysterics about the rally show? They are nervous. It shows that the mainstream media, despite having near-total power, is afraid. They are afraid they are losing the narrative. Good. It’s about time. Let’s hope that more Americans begin to rage! What do Americans get from their government? • Income tax which is confiscation of labor—essentially slavery or parttime slavery. A slave is a person who doesn’t own his own labor. Most American taxpayers pay higher taxes than medieval serfs. • Endless wars in which Americans die for secret agendas of a few and the profits of the armament companies. Most gullible are “patriots” who wrap themselves in the flag and rush off to
die for they know not what. • Lies about white people who are demonized by the “woke” Biden regime, public schools, universities, and the presstitutes of the Ministry of Propaganda, the mass media complex mind controlling the public. • Disrespect of the U.S. Constitution. According to “woke” Biden Democrats and Democrat judges, the U.S. Constitution is a document of white supremacy and oppression of minorities. What do Americans get from their corporations? • Offshored production for U.S. markets that destroys American jobs, middle class living standards, state and local government tax bases, and eventually the U.S. dollar. • Polluted land, air, rivers, lakes, oceans, and even small creeks. What do Americans get from their health care system? • The destruction by Big Pharma lobbying and campaign contributions of private practice and the formation
of corporate medicine. • Big Pharma treatment protocols that destroy the independence of doctors in corporate medicine and fires them if they follow the Hippocratic Oath. • Money-making ventures such as the “Covid pandemic” that resulted in deaths due to withheld treatment with Ivermectin and HCQ, and massive deaths and injuries by the “emergency use authorization” of an untested mRNA “vaccine.” • U.S. medical care is the highest cost and least effective medical system on Earth. What do Americans get from their “justice system”? • Rigged trials focused only on convicting the defendant, not on finding the truth. • Violation of the requirement of a trial by peers. White Americans are arrested, indicted, prosecuted and tried with the participation of blacks who have been taught by the public school systems, universities, and “woke”
media to hate white people as “racist oppressors.” In other words, instead of trial by peers, white people face trial by enemies. As there is scant prospect of justice in American court rooms, 97% of defendants, whether innocent or guilty, accept a plea deal in place of their right to a trial. What do Americans get from their media outlets? • Nothing but lies and official narratives that support, and protect from truth, the agendas of the ruling elites. Why do people join the U.S. military to protect such evil? Are they completely mindless? Go ahead, amuse yourselves. Ask the same questions about any and all U.S. institutions. Try to find one that serves the people.
