HANNAH What is your name and where are you based? I'm Hannah Marie, and I'm based In Somerset. How did you get into modelling and how long have you been doing it? I got into modelling because of my mum, she took photos of me at a very young age and I've loved it ever since! I started working with other photographers when I was 14 though and have been working hard ever since. What types of modelling do you do? I like to do a bit of everything from fashion up to erotica and artistic nude. Have you modelled for any well known brands or names? I'm sponsored by Retro Classic Clothing and also will be working with brands such as Roll The Credits Clothing, Star Boy Apparel and Fight Clothing UK, with much more in the pipe line. Do you prefer working on location or in a studio? Location! I love doing different stuff, I would rather have loads of different backgrounds to work with rather than just studio ones, although saying that I do enjoy working in studios. What do your friends and family think of you being a model? All my friends and family are amazing, they all back me 100 percent in what I do. It's great to have such supportive people around me. What is the furthest place you have travelled for a shoot? I would have to say Cornwall for a shoot with Dale Pointon Photography, but so worth it, the images are awesome! What preparations do you do before a shoot? I like to be organised, I get my nails done so they look great. I also make a list to make sure I have everything in place. What do you think makes a good model? I think personally a model that has ideas makes a good model. I find that input from other models is so much better especially when a model and photographer come up with awesome ideas as a team. What's your favourite shoot you have ever done? I would have to say to date would have to be with Scott Morgan, I have admired his work for so long and always wanted to work with him. When I did, I have to say I was so stoked with all the images; he's a great photographer to work with and really taught me a lot on our shoot.

After working with James for quite some time, showcasing his work on these pages in several issues, we were finally able to grab time in his extremely busy schedule to interview him. We wanted to delve into his hopes and dreams, and most importantly about his photography and what he seens in his future. We know for sure it's going to be a successful one. Born in the Philippines with a twin brother, John, to Irish father, Thomas, and Philipinian mother, Anatolia, James moved to Italy aged only six. There he grew up until aged 16 he set off for England, London bound. Initially it was the dream to become a professional poker player, a passion he persued for four years. A career in photography had never been a consideration until the purchase of his first ever DSLR as a birthday treat to himself ignited the new found interest.

"I never thought I would end up as a photographer, I didn t grew up with a camera in my hands. I just remember my dad owning an Olympus that had different lenses and equipment." I started taking pictures with what was available for me at the time: streets, architecture, landscapes and just random people. I felt this urge to understand the process behind a picture: the technical and mental aproach, and I wqnted to learn all I could to achieve and perfect the visualization in my head."

James Oliver Connolly - Fashion Photographer- London

"I progessed into portrait photography when I had a chance meeting with Zack Arias - one of the leading portait photographers in the world, I Had this great opportunity to chat with Zack and his wife Meghan, who are both incredible artists. Zack's very classic approach inspired me to move in to portraits. I can't honestly say which direction within fashion I may go, as it is still very fresh for me, but I'm constantly researching new styles."

" am inspired by the graphic look of Dave Hill, and a young photographer with a great style: El Rey Volution. He and Petr Pilsky are the reason I started photoshop editing. They have that edge and style that can only be achieved with a good knowledge of editing. Yulbriner Montanaro and Bella Ortiz are my main mentors at the moment, just great people who are very open. Neil Jayaratne from London is another I respect. I learn so much from these people We've all kind of become friends through photography. I know these are not the classical names that people are used to hear, but they will be and are right now for me."

"I love working in the studio and on location but if there is a chance in going to location it is better. Sometimes shooting in studio is necessary, especially for beauty shoots, but also handy when the weather is bad, or if a location is suddenly unavailable. My biggest support comes from my fiancee, Julia. Friends are supportive too but sometimes, because they don't see behind the image, they don't understand the process, the preparation, networking, and then all the editing in the many hours you're away from the camera. To be a good photographer, in my opinion, means having that 'eye'; being able to look for something different in what is ordinary. Attaining a style that expresses your views and ideas and making them become an image, and knowing when boundaries are crossed. An artistic nude can easily become vulger if not well executed. To be a good, progressing photographer you need to be humble, accept and understand critique. So many admirable, great photographers all have their feet on the ground. But possibly the most important aspect is to have a great team, something I am slowly building on. The make up artist and hair stylist, Julia Bartnicka and photography assistant Luca Minasola, who are essential to me. What's been my favourite shoot of all time? That would have to be the snowboard shoot I did this past winter in Poland. That was very weird - and cold!"
